    Most gyms don't look like this because the owners want to save as much money as they can so they can make the biggest profit. Keenan needs money and a job, we all do so he needs to profit. BUT, he's sacrificing some of his money to make his customers as happy as possible and because he loves jiu jitsu. He's doing it because he loves BJJ and is willing to sacrifice some money so people have the best experience. This is the man you want to learn from.

      @@nainoa2323 I doubt it. He's willing to put in the time and effort. I never been to an academy that had 2 trainers per class, it means less money in their pockets, they love BJJ so much they want everyone to be satisfied at Keenans place. He's willing to add classes at will and doesn't mind spending all day there, try finding another BJJ academy like that. I've seen BJJ academies that have 1 class of BJJ 4x a week. Most people open an academy to make money, he's doing it because he loves BJJ. He said he saved up all his money to do this. He must have made a fortunate from BJJ! He can make a living from seminars and his online website alone and he can make a lot through them. He has youtube. He has a podcast. He has sponsors. So anything he makes from his academy is a bonus for him.
      These trainers are making a ton. Do you have any idea how much Keenan can make off private lessons alone? My former instructor was not an elite level grappler and wouldn't qualify for ADCC; he's charging 100 dollars an hour..........People are actually paying this. Imagine what 1 of the most popular grapplers can make. Another guy near me made it to ADCC but lost, at the trials, he's charging 150-200.
      He's not going to go bankrupt.

If I ever move out to California from Florida, I will DEFINITELY train at this gym. Beautiful, and functional training sessions. So many thoughts put into everything, it's amazing! I'd love to have a children's playground at my Gym too, in a couple years 😃 only thing I not understand, you need a kitchenette for the staph. Is that because there are no showers?🙂 Guess that is the difference between an American and an European gym? People here complain if there are only 2 showers 😅

      Not only that He believes that no people all over the world are training jiujitsu and start to differenciate each other again we should go back to naming the whole thing jiujitsu and then more specifically the word before is just the country your style is from. So its not about what he has done but rather the whole American community what has been a Lot.

    • @bane3991
      @bane3991 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I would put my money on it it's because he's letting people know it's more Americanized with an American culture that doesn't follow ridiculous traditions; this can make a place feel like a cult. If you ever hear someone say jiu jitsu is a cult, there's a lot of truth to it, but luckily places are opening up now moving away from the cult idea. Places that are more Americanized are much better environments. Calling your teacher "sensei" or "master" is just none sense. Bowing before you step on the mats is even bigger non sense. Some academies will say you can't train anywhere else, most academies will say you need permission from your instructor to even visit another place. You see insane traditions in the schools that are run by a Brazilian.
      Some of these Brazilians don't realize that we pay to be there, we don't have to be there. They'll treat it more as if you're a recruit trying to become a police officer. There's a very large incentive to go through the non sense the trainers at police academies put you through, the yelling and other bogus BS. But the drop out rate for BJJ is extremely high and you're only making it higher when you treat people like trash because you think it betters them but all it does is disrespect/annoy them.
      I've never experienced the hardcore traditions, I experienced very light traditions at my first school such as asking permission to train elsewhere, nothing bad. I knew early on I can't take traditions so I went to an Americanized school. But I have heard horror stories from people who have trained at places with traditions that I train with now or I did train with.
