  • Sitka Spruce and Rosewood back and sides; what I would consider the most 'familiar' sound combination of tonewoods.
Gorgeous inlay work on the headstock, fretboard, and bridge!
The last in my demos of Larrivee OM-03 models. Videos of the Mahogany an Bhilwara builds are on my channel page!
Some of these riffs are taken/adapted from Keith Urban, Chet Atkins, and Mysterious Barricades by Couperin.

Built to the exact standards you would find on our much higher series, the 03 is built in America using all solid wood and features our handfit dovetail neck joint for superior fit and sustain. This series truly stands out as an industry leader for price and quality.

What's your fave of the Larrivee tonewoods you've tried?

When people in the shop have me point them towards best bang for you buck and versatility, I gravitate towards the OM-03 Mahogany. My personal favorite though is a Spruce/Rosewood combo. Just sounds 'familiar' to me, or more like home. How about you?

@@tedspacagna I have yet to try a rosewood Larrivee but I'd like to. Walnut has deep bass but not enough sparkly treble, koa not sure about, bhilwara sounds interesting... But mahogany sounds like home to me. I have an old OM-02 which is Sapele, which I prefer to mahogany. Slightly less mid hump and extended bass and treble over mahogany but Larrivee don't use that wood anymore. Thanks again, great videos!

      I haven’t played a walnut guitar yet!
Agree on Koa. The Bhilwara to me sounds like a combo of rosewood/mahogany. Looks great, tone doesn’t quite suit my playing.
      Thank you!!!

@@tedspacagna Hi Ted, I wonder if you have tried both the satin and gloss version of these guitars and which you prefer?

@@tommysixstring5094 I’ve played an L09 and an OM60 with a gloss finish. I’d say I preferred the OM60 above all, but that guitar is far from a direct comparison to an 03, price and specs wise.
