Yeah, when a HG fails like that, those combustion gases are like a cutting torch. If not found and diagnosed early, this is what you get. Six-Star all the way! I use 'em in all my builds, I think they are the best you can get. The only caveat is that the surface prep they recommend should be followed to the letter. 50 RA or finer on the heads and block deck. I always lap mine to about 35 RA or finer, never had a set fail yet. Just follow procedure all down the line with torquing instructions.
I’ve heard of them before, most of my setups are stock ish power, and I just use oem. I really want to do a nice 450-500whp setup, but with the new house, and finishing the barn, from an empty pole barn to a shop, I really should have money going elsewhere!
@@_robertburger If your on a budget, ( and who isn't these days! ), you can create your own lapping table. Here's how. If you are fortunate ( although debatable ), to live near a city, there is usually a mason/stone supply house that will have polished granite stone cladding used for commercial buildings. They will more than likely have a sheet with a corner broken off that you can get for a reasonable price. This stuff is dead flat! A piece of granite counter-top may work as well. You can cut it down to whatever size that meets your needs with a diamond blade with a trickle of water flow to keep the blade cool. Get some "3M #77" adhesive spray and after a though cleaning of the granite, spray a light coat onto it and lay down some "wet/dry" abrasive paper edge to edge and roll it down with a hard rubber Formica roller to make sure its down flat with no bumps or bubbles. Wet it down with water and gently lay the head on your new lapping table and with a circular motion and even pressure keep working it until you get the desired finish your after. Works for me. Just takes time and effort to save some money.
Please, please, please - protect your kitty-cat. Animals find the scent and taste of glycol antifreeze irresistible. It tastes sweet to them and they will drink it, resulting in kidney failure. Of all the fluids found in a garage, this is the most dangerous to them. Please clean-up any spills right when they happen with this stuff. We LOVE our shop "mousers" and want them to live a long happy life! After all if he or she is a good mouser, it's kind of like an employee that works for just room and board.
They can be, key word can be, fine up to 450-500 who mark, with the right head gasket and studs. Which this did not have the correct studs. The turbo motors are semi closed deck, they have some supporting unlike the non turbo motors, which are open deck
Where are you located if those wheels are still up for grabs I would be interested I have a set of stock wheels that I could give back as well to keep it moving
that's some crazy detonation, sheesh.
looking forward a new update

I watched him that day, and he didn’t go back over to it and drink any. But usually non sits out that they could access
Thanks!
It makes sense from a financial point of view and I would do the same if I could
Open deck EJ garbo

Man, the color on that sti is nice too.
It’s a wrap, pretty cool though!

I’m near Grand Rapids michigan
Hey not bad I’m only the state under ya
Shittt I'm in Wisconsin!!!
Literally right across the lake from you 5 hours. nice to know that for the future!
Get a toyota or honda
I’ve got a Toyota, love it!
Failed tune
I think it was mainly the headstud choice. ARP2000’s can’t handle the boost
What makes you say tune?
Detonation is what caused that, Excessive lean condition from lack of fuel, With all the mods that were done
just drop in an IAG longblock and call it a day
The cheapest IAG long lock is over 10k delivered. That wouldn’t make sense financially as I don’t have a personal use/plan to keep the car as of now.
