My cigarette lighter in the car gets hot but not hot enough to light a cigarette it just burns it. Could this be because it is slightly dirty? How do I fix this? The outlet works and heats up the lighter but does not make it red hot

The socket is actually different for a lighter vs. a 12v outlet.
Accessories work in a lighter socket.
A lighter won't work in an accessory socket.
