    Managing your tires for the entire race is really important to becoming a champion. Many drivers struggle in this area. If you manage your tires correctly, you can take advantage of those drivers who didn't in the last couple of laps.

    Don't forget some of us serious karters do endurance racing. 6 hours for us is a short race, my general stints (3 drivers per kart) is 58 minutes, and I normally do 3 stints in a race. We use normal sprint karts that race in the KA100 class, but were covering about 500+ laps. Got to keep those tyres happy for the entire race.

    To high a CG will kill tires fast, karts all over the track shimming the front tires from the centre of corner to exit
    These Euro kart guys love the high CG, I only seen few fast Euro karts and the seats are mounted just like the American karts that where fast, seat bottom mounted so that it will scrub the first couple laps on track, I never burned threw a seat but a few did that did it wrong lol
    Seat was kicked up where your legs exit and the top of the seat laid back as far as allowed which was
    14 in. this was done to lower the CG as far as possible within the rules.
    You go check out 1978 World Champion Lake Speed kart from the late 70’s Lake Speed is smaller man so he didn’t need to lower his seat as extreme but the top of his helmet was 1 foot or more lower than most of the drivers.
    Lake Speed is still racing Vintage dual engine sprint karts and winning that make 100hp at 300 pounds
    the man is in his mid 70’s

    So where I live the temperature in the summer gets to 110+ degrees and the ground temp can easily get to 130/140 degrees, would I still not have to manage tire temps in those conditions?

    • @NorbergNation
      @NorbergNation  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is always a bit that you have to do to try and manage but generally find the limit and don't go over.

    How can i find the right pressure for front tires? For example, 0.9 on hot for rears, doesn't means front tires must have the same optimal pressure ?

    • @malcolmpohle3618
      @malcolmpohle3618 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A little higher

    • @NorbergNation
      @NorbergNation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im not sure what is optimal because it is different for each track but generally you want the front and rears to come in around the same temperature.

      @@NorbergNation Thank you for replay! Yes, and that's the problem. How can i feel that my front tires is in optimal pressure. Find optimal rear pressure is not too hard, but front, it can be differ in pressure for sure, because front tires is narrower and smaller. We can setup chassis on wrong front pressure, not optimal, because of that we can fail in chassis setup. This is a real question. How to understand front tire pressure :D

    How many sets are you allowed in the US X30? Rotax competition in Europe is basically 1 set for the weekend.
    Also, for new comers I find it hard to have good info on the right tire pressures, is it based on PSI, heat, obviously will depend on the brand and hardness, but so there is so little info.
    Any websites with setup sheets to fill in or suggested setups for a specific brand? I found only Tonykart Aus to be doing some. Might help novice to get up to speed faster and is a very common service to sell / subscribe in Simracing, so maybe a new for racers to share info and get $ in return.

      Mojo D5, hot 0.8 bar. for beginners just always 0.8 after you stopped your session and I believe atleast for the vega green its 0,78-0,82 bar. but just ask the dealer, the official importer of your tyre, he for sure will give you the right pressure info and for playing with the pressure with Slick tyres you need to be on a very high level already (to little of a difference if your now 0.8 or 0.78 or 0.76 bar).
      and for rain its usually, the more water, the more pressure, with slicks or wet tyres

      US X30 it depends on the series, sometimes it is one set for the races and qualifying, and sometimes it is one set for each day of races of their qualifying.

    • @NorbergNation
      @NorbergNation  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In the US we are allotted 2 sets of tires a weekend. As far as the rest goes, there are many different variables that affect how you do tire pressure. Generally the harder the sidewall of the tire, the less pressure you run in the tire.
