I feel like 7-10 years ago the racism in Canada was not nearly as overt as it is now. Racist people feel emboldened to be open about their racism now, especially towards Indian people, like Josh said. People seem so much more bothered by the influx of Indian immigrants compared to any other group of immigrants in the past…Canada is made up of immigrants so what is the issue? It’s disappointing as a Canadian.
I fully agree! I feel like since the pandemic, for whatever reason, people have become more comfortable with being racist and in general a lot more cruel to minorities, especially immigrants (and the Indigenous too). The thing is, everyone is so pleasant! I don’t know if it’s because I’ve grown up in an immigrant-populated area, majority being from India, but I have no issues regarding them! They’re all very welcoming people, and super respectful of myself and others, so I don’t understand why people have such negative stereotypes about them. Just because my cultural background differs from theirs doesn’t make them any less human.
Racists are feeling another lurch in their personal power slipping (everyone is feeling a loss of power what with money and lack of actual rep in politics) and when that happens the bigots get the most antsy and start acting out. Minorities are prospering more (even modestly) than not-at-all while they, bigots, are suffering and sliding more into economic and social uncertainty. In short, they believe that IF minorities are to prosper, white people need to prosper first and foremost. “Serve me first or serve me only”.
For the second story, I'm so glad you guys noticed the grooming part. It's so easy to fall into the "all men are bad" pit that pretends as if men can't be victims too. He likely didn't tell her because of the grooming part and that's probably part of why he panicked. I hope OP sees that someday too and perhaps finds it in her heart to be civil with her ex so she can be a part of her brother's life again (and also to counter any lies the mom might tell the kid)
I’ve listened to that story on a few channels and I don’t think anyone else pointed it out. She’s known him since he was a kid and magically it only started after he was a full adult? Not likely. It’s so gross.
Ok im stumped, I heard the channel say it, now both of you as well. Did I completely mishear the story? I thought it read that OP was 24 and her fiancé was 25. The kid is ~3, so he was conceived around 4 years ago. The mom was 43. So it sounds like the mom did it with him when she was 43 and the guy was 21. So I fail to see this suggestion that the lady was a groomer and that the guy was tricked. Granted, the mom is a monster, she has no respect for her own daughter, and probably has a bit of a fetish for younger men, as some women (and men) tend to during their mid life crisis, as a way of making themself feel less bad about starting to get old. Unless I am misremembering the ages, then I fail to see her as a predator or him as the victim of grooming. 21 made him a man in all respects, not just legally but also intellectually. A 21 year old, even if not fully matured, still can tell right from wrong, and should be held responsible for their choices. If he had been with the fiancé since age 17, then that means they were together possibly 4 years before the instance of cheating, and then apparently led her on an additional 4 years. A truly messed up story, but Idk if i understand it as a grooming situation. 🤔
@@modera.torrent_ grooming doesn't stop or disappear just because a person turns 21. From what I remember of the story, they knew each other before they started dating (I think it was 16?) and he knew OP's mother since then as well. They started dating when they were 18(?) and it happened when he was 21/22, that makes at least 3 years in which OP's mom had the ability to manipulate him. Grooming is usually very subtle, you don't notice it and suddenly you're in too deep and don't know how messed up the situation is until someone points it out. This is also why often victims of grooming don't see themselves as victims, "it would never happen to me," "I said yes," etc
First story - the only acceptable reason I can think of for the friend’s reaction would be trauma from abuse or seeing someone abused. Maybe that’s why she’s got an exaggerated reaction?? If not, she’s just unhinged. Lol
Agree. I came to say this. Maybe that incident triggered something and she is trying to help her friend bc she herself did not see the signs in time. Any other explanation would be weird. Like lady leave us alone! 😂
What mother sleeps with their daughter’s boyfriend and he is the same age of her daughter. There is always another boyfriend but you only ever have one mom. I could never imagine betraying my daughter like this makes me so sad. I hope she has a good support system round her.
It's 2024 the only 1-10 hotness scale I care about is at my local Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants because anything over 6 makes my insides feel like they are melting😂
I see racism towards Indian people all the time at work. I work in retail and every time my boss sees an Indian family walking up she says something like “aww shit, here come these people again. They are gonna mess up my store.”
@@eva1585 there’s an awful stereotype that they will come in, leave everything on the floor and then just walk out. Or they buy a bunch of things just to return them in a few days.

Has best friend been in an abusive relationship? Because that's the behaviour and fears of an abused person. Also while I understand where OP in story 2 is coming from but I think it's unfair to treat her half brother the way she is.
I had almost an exact story as the first story happen a few years ago with my husband. He was playing in a "cup in hand" kickball game which is basically where everyone plays while drinking. As he was heading for 3rd base a man probably 20 years older than him shoved him down and he was running. I got the whole thing on video. It was wild. The guy didn't think he did anything wrong.
I can’t believe Sean didn’t knew well who Messi is 😭😭 and Josh, I’m from Venezuela and you Canadians kill our dream to be in semifinals in CA. But it was a good game and exciting until the end 😊❤️
Just in case no one said it, Sean was awesome that episode! Great takes! Also omg new minion movie the ogtha OP cannot watch it in theaters! It’s a kids movie and how he felt wouldn’t be acceptable!!!!
My guy, hotness is qualitative. Numbers…are quantitative. Trying to apply statistical analysis to the vague notion of hotness is thinking-you-can-turn-lead-into-gold levels of silly. Just had to get that off my chest.

To be fair even my first gen Canadian friends who's parents are from India hate the recent Indian immigrants too 😂

I have something to confess: when I first started listening to the podcast I thought Josh’s name was “Joshuel”
that’s so real me too
😂😂
We miss you Sean, hopefully everything turns out OK and you come back next week! Also sending good vibes to everyone else in the Hurrican/cyclone area

Great episode as usual 😊
I was left itching bc I wanted a petty revenge sooo badly on the last story. I mean, they deserve some kind of consequence for their audacity.

I'm adhd too and I have no idea wtf that poster was even saying with all those numbers. I got so bored and annoyed with that reading 😆

I'm not a huge fan of prime rib either. I'm like Josh and make whatever steak is on sale. I usually do a 6oz fillet wrapped in bacon.
