Just to lecture them lol I remember a member talking about it (while explaining a prank they did on him some members acting as if they were fighting on his birthday and lectured them thinking he didn't raise them like that and when they revealed it was a prank he cried falling on his knees😭)

In the first clip the members address Hongjoong in casual way which is a big no no in korean culture when addressing someone older than you. (Age matters a lot in korea.)

The funniest thing about this entire video is that you would think that wooyoung is the most problematic child for hongjoong or maybe san, mingi, yunho, jongho because all of them are seen instigating him. Yeosang doesn't appear once in this video but when Hongjoong was asked to rank the member in order of who he finds the most difficult to parent, he ranked Yeosang no. 1. The reason for this that he can scold and get mad at other members when they mess around but he can never get mad at Yeosang. Yeosang is just too precious and innocent for anyone to scold him. Whenever Yeosang messes something up, hongjoong is either endeared by how cute he is or tries to help Yeosang. Yeosang is like the fake maknae of the group and all the members adore him. So Yeosang not being in this video at all but still being the most difficult to parent kid for hongjoong is the most ironic shit ever.

@@hunterashley-musicreact if you are interested, there is a small compilation titled "Yeosang being the hardest for Hongjoong to parent" You can react to it in the future. Yeosang is always not paying attention or teasing hongjoong but not once will you see hongjoong mad at him. He is either endeared or gives up. It's so funny how differently he yreats his children because for wooyoung he would straight up make stern eyes and call him out or scold him but for Yeosang.

hongjoong is a great leader and the most gentle some maybe think he is so strict but sometimes they really need that and he knows when he needs to be strict and when he needs to be soft also he is one of the most caring and generous member

Hongjoong's "come to my room" threats are funnier when you realize he was roommates with seonghwa at the time. I like to imagine they have one of those white boards on the their door like dorm RAs to let you know who's in the room so the members can decide if they need comforting (hwa) or advice (joong)

It has such a different vibe than what people typically know Ateez for but I think no one does even these fun and softer genres better than them!)

That was his hair yes and no the object of the game was just to freeze and one member at a time was allowed to move. They seemed to take it upon themselves to undress him and lift him. Cos why not I guess lol. And yes its very clear Hongjoong loves the others a lot by how he quietly looks after them or how he looks at them. He is still disciplining them but hes just as chaotic sometimes

At the very beginning the ears were moving because the members were speaking to him casually, which you're not supposed to do with someone older than you. There are different levels of speech in Korean that show different levels of respect. They were speaking to him how an old person would speak to a child. Lol

You can look at it this way, seonghwa and hongjoong are the oldest, jongho’s the baby, and everyone else is equally in the middle
In korea age determines hierarchy, but only if you’re born in different year
for example: seonghwa and hongjoong are 7 months apart meanwhile hongjoong and yunho are only 4 months BUT because the first two are both born in 1998 and yunho’s 1999, hongjoong and seonghwa are “same age” and hongjoong’s yunho’s hyung
It gets more difficult if you take into account early birthday, but lets not get into that
What’s more interesting, is that you can be ‘friends’ (친구 (chingu)) only with people born in the same year as you, it’s not that they’re not close and don’t consider each other friends in our understanding of the word, but because of the age hierarchy, only people close to you who are the same age are friends
thats why idols (example is matz) often say that “they are each others only friends”
It’s also why idols often gravitate/are closest to others from the same year as them, because then they don’t have that power dynamic/don’t have to use respective language etc

when I was JUST getting to know them I was actually concerned that he has such a short fuse and would snap at them a little. All the leaders I knew before that (Namjoon, Chan, Soobin etc) were sweet and endlessly patient. But as I got to know them over time I realized just how caring and loving Hongjoong actually is. He is SO emotionally intelligent and I don't know if it came to him easy or he trained himself to be that for their sake. He is a really great leader in his own way.
Also if you watch Kingdom Chan and Hongjoong have a small "blind date" segment were they are discussing their problem children and how to manage them it's very funny! xD
i need to see that blind date asap 🏃♀️

Ok unpopular opinion but i think i would skip the very old videos like this (for now) , mainly bc u are just starting to know them and i feel like a lot of the time u get stuck with the first impression (naturally) but ateez has changed sooo much over the years (prob bc they got more comfortable too) and alsoo a few things u might find there are old jokes or traits that just have become annoying and just not true but people bring back bc of these compilations. Ofc that's just my opinion and at the end looking back it's always fun but i would leave that for later !
