IN THE BEGINNING, THERE WAS THE VOICE. The natural uninhibited need to use this instrument to express the inner feelings of her soul is what got this soulful artist started. Born in one of the then music capitals of the world, Detroit ,Michigan , otherwise known as “Motown”, Song was influenced by music all through her life. At the young age 19 Song moved to Austin ,Texas to attend Huston-Tillotson University. It was there on 6th street in Austin that Song experienced live music, singer/songwriters and performers. It was there that inspiration grew. She began to write and sing in secret. Fast forward nearly 8 years later, she wrote the lyrics to the 13 songs that would become the first cd entitled “In The Firplace” released in 1999. Her sultry, in-your-face vocal stylings is reminiscent of a young Dionne Warwick or Phyliss Hyman. Her energy and performance on stage is infectious.
