    Roger Ebert had an article about why Arnold Schwarzenegger was so successful in Hollywood, and one of the reasons he mentioned was that he alternates genres to keep from being stale - "He makes an action movie with comic scenes, and then a comedy with action scenes. "Twins" and then "Total Recall" and then "Kindergarten Cop" and then "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." Ebert also credited Arnold with "not taking roles he can't play, knowing what's right and wrong for him", his sense of humor, and that he comes across as being kind of a humble guy in terms of his own physique where he knows he's in great shape but brag about it or preen. He's also good at letting his co-stars or antagonists have the spotlight.
    Obviously Arnold is a popular figure to kind of goof on because of his accent and one-liner quips, and nobody is going to claim he's an actor on the caliber of a Leonardo DeCaprio or Robert De Niro, for example, but he definitely shouldn't be underrated. He didn't become such a huge success by accident.

    Hello Achara & Michael!😊 Our two stars had a HUGE paycheck for this film! The budget was only $18 million as Arnold and Devito did not take a salary. Instead they collectively took 40% of the box office returns and video rentals. Just the box office 40% comes to over $80 million, and that doesn't include video rentals!💵💵💵💵🤯

    • @DanielGonzalez-vo5ni
      @DanielGonzalez-vo5ni 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Think that's why Hollywood doesn't typically do deals like that anymore from what I heard Arnold told Danny and the director to both take the same deal and to this day its his biggest payout from a film he's done

    • @KS-xk2so
      @KS-xk2so 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DanielGonzalez-vo5ni yep. They didn't believe Arnie could do comedy, so they refused to give them a legit budget. To get it made, Arnie took 20%, Danny took 20% and I believe the director got 10% as well, of the films overall box office gross. The movie was a monster smash hit, and yet, the studio barely made a dime. It was the last time they EVER gave out points like that on a film's box office sales. Nowadays the huge monster movie stars might be able to command some points, but its usually under 5%, and its on net profit, not box office gross. They learned their lesson fast lol

    Fun story about this movie: This movie was released while my parents were dating & they saw it together. Well, some time later they were at a party playing pictionary (the game where you have 60 seconds to draw a picture & guess what it is) & my mom was given the word "twins." So, she drew the image of Arnold & Danny posing like in the movie poster & no one (not even my dad) guessed that was what the image was supposed to be. It's a story that almost 40 years later still gets told at parties, family gatherings, & anytime we see a movie with Arnold or Danny in it.

    a person’s accent is greatly influenced in childhood. Children develop their verbal idiosyncrasies from their peers rather than their parents because they really do spend more time with friends and classmates than their parents. in this case “Julius” was raised and taught by (i believe )this Dr. Werner who has a very distinctive and similar accent .

    You should see his most dramatic role, when Arnold took on the film "Maggie". It's arguable and a lot of people will say that he should have been nominated for an Oscar for that one! Co-starring Abigail Breslin, it's pretty much just the two of them for the entire film there's only a couple other actors who jump in and out but it's just the two of them holding your attention .

    If you really want to see Arnold's range, I recommend "Maggie". It's a zombie movie but it's drama where Arnold plays the father of a girl who over the course of the movie turns into a zombie. The movie itself is fairly basic but Arnold delivers a surprisingly decent dramatic performance.

    Arnold (and others) put up their own money to get this made as no studios thought he could do comedy. Ended up working out for him as he (and the others) still own the rights to it so he is still making money on it today. I believe he said it’s made him the most money of any other movie he did.

    44:17 For $5,000,000 he could just kill Vincent right there. Remember Beetroot was only the Courier taking a share of the profits. The $5,000,000 was intended for the two engineers Beetroot killed.

    Regarding Arnie's comedic chops: The last two Terminator movies are pretty disappointing, in my opinion. (Genysis and Dark Fate.) But the one consistent element that works great in both those movies is Arnie. I have no idea how he pulls it off, but every single line he delivers is comedic gold, even while the rest of the plot is a mess. I think he's gotten even more charismatic as he's gotten older.

    21:00 "They told her you died at birth." Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......... LOL - I lost it right there. Hi. Larious you guys.
    But - You can make it from LA to Texas in a day?? El Paso, maybe, but Houston is another 1,000 miles past there. (Texas: the land of the four-figure mile posts.) If you're going to drive 24 hours at 65 mph, average (that means no stops for gas or food), then okay sure. But I mean, you're going to lose about 3 hours in Phoenix alone.

    the first comedy Arnie did was Cactus Jack, where he played a charachter called Handsome Stranger, and based on the cartoon of the same name. (also like the roadrunner cartoon if you don't know cactus jack!)
    that'll be a good film to check out sometime if you like a good laugh!

    In the early 90's I tried to find a parking spot for a conference in Philly. Everything was $6 something for 1/2 hour. Cheapest I could find was the hospital parking garage for $3 for a half hour. It was ridiculously expensive. There was a cap (I think 4 hours) but you're broke by then.

    26:06 I can make it to Iowa in a day. 52:38 yeah he was wanting to do comedy movie for so long and Twins gave him that chance. He’s been wanting to do a sequel called Triplets but he decided to run for governor of California and that threw a wrench in the works. An interesting fact about the movie there was a report that two real-life twins were reunited with their father after seeing him in the scene set in downtown Santa Fe. The film had a $15 million budget and grossed worldwide $216 million. Grossed about half that in the US and Canada alone. Opening weekend wasn’t good though. It only brought in $11 million.

    There was supposed to be a sequel called Triplets with Eddie Murphy as the third. I can't remember why it fell through after they all agreed to doing it though. I sure wish it would have happened though. It would have been hilarious! They should do a remake of this with Kevin Hart and the Rock. 😂
    And Michael was mad annoying during this reaction. I normally like his reactions but there were a ton of comments they take you out of the fantasyn of the movie.

    Love Arnie in this movie. It was genius for Ivan Reitman to foght for and cast him.
    I think this is Schwarzenegger's best role.
