The consoles where the light is not moving around on the startup menu (like 1:03), the first thing that comes to mind for me is they have a dead CMOS battery on the motherboard
Did you make sure to test CD-based games (blue discs/ps1 games) on all these too? The cd laser is separate from the dvd one so one can work without the other
No I don’t really, I have another channel for gaming and going to only post videos like this one here. The gaming channel is: @eeisen I’m just a bit of a nerd and watch a lot of videos and read on the internet. Sometimes even learn by doing, I’ve been into stuff like this for a long time :)
you do have problem with the consoles you say worked and the menu orbs are not moving on them often meaning the clock battery is dead in the console, without it the console lose time and some settings. and for a complete test you could also try PS1 games and check memory card slots and usb ports for proper function. the console with the stuck laser could be as simple as a defect position sensor, there should be either a microswitch or optical sensor that gives a signal when the laser is at the end of travel and without this signal the console don´t know where the laser is positioned. The pink laser could eventually be fixed, I have seen many lasers come to life if you clean the mirror under the laser lens, it is a kind of 45 degree thingy that the laser shines through from beneath the laser assembly that also gets dusty, in case the laser is weak you also have a small pot on the ribbon cable close to the lens that you can adjust to increase power to the laser that also can make it work, I am rather sure you could get the last console working if you figure out the positioning issue and clean or adjust the laser properly
Good video! I have PS2 Slim Silver edition too. The eye was working normally before the modchip was removed. After removing the modchip, it stopped working. The eye moves forward but the motor for the cd does not turn. I checked the flex cables and everything looks normal. Do you have any suggestions for me?
If that's the case, your laser could not read the disc correctly so it doesn't spin, you could readjust the power to the laser and see what happens, but i could be wrong though 😅

Ive seen other people replace that, i didnt have any new ones but i will defently order some for future projects 😁
Thank you for the comment 🙏🏼
That pink PS2 slim is something to die for!
For real, it’s my fav in the collection so far! Now I need the controllers 😂
I had to downvote this only because of the way you handle the game discs, it triggers me so much even though the video wasn't even bad at all.

I didnt, i will keep that in mind until next time, thx for the tip 😄
You have any social media or anything? I’d like to learn how you developed these skills to repair consoles.
