I asked a question below I hope you can share your expertise on. Thanks for the knowledge i hope you get the credit for the battery tender i just bought
No go for me. Boosted the dead battery i.e. started the car, let it run for 60s, turned it off, left the good battery connected via jumpers for 5 min, disconnected, drove the car with the "dead" battery for 15 min, then re-connected the tender and it still shows "Full Charge". Does this mean my tender is shot?
Holy crap! It worked! Hooked my Subaru battery to my deep cycle batt, with jumper cables and then started car. Turn car off and let sit for 5 mins… then reconnected battery charger… it recognized it and started charging! Thx!🙏
Great video, sir. I left my motorcycle key turned and I came home to find it dead. The battery charger I purchased didn't have any effect until I found your advise and gave it a good surface charge to begin truly charging the battery. Again, good shout. You are doing God's work.
Bro thanks for the video. I have a 69 C10 that hasn’t been cranked in at least 4 years!!!! The battery was dead…RIP 💀 my battery charger would not recognize the battery. I used my wife’s Honda to charge the battery for 10 minutes. After ten minutes the battery charger started working. I saved myself $250 bucks for 10 minutes of my time! That’s $1500 an hour. I found a new side hustle… 💰💰💰💰😁 Seriously thank you so much!
Thank you so much! My truck battery is dead so I bought a cheap trickle charger and it first didn't show anything other than power. Then later showed error. With your help and my backup jumper, I charger the battery enough to get the trickle charger to recognize the battery and start charging! Thanks! 👍
Thank you! You just saved me buying a new battery. Never used a smart charger before and thought this battery was dead as a doornail. Did this and boom, charged back up no problem!
I purchased a new truck battery less than 3 months ago and found out something was draining the battery. This saved me from buying a new battery. Thanks!
I left my RV deep cycle battery in the RV for 3 months in the winter - the Maxx charger would not work! I tried your trick...hooked it up to the Chevy PU for 10 min. I then hooked up the battery to the Maxx charger...AND IT TOTALLY WORKED! Thanks for your help! A.J.
Worked like a charm on my boat battery which I ran down to near nothing and just kept getting a bad battery light on my charger. Battery was only 4 months old so I was almost sure it wasn't the battery...so came to you tube looking for the answer and you gave it to me! LIKE for sure! Thanks!!
Thank you for the info! This was exactly our problem and once we got that quick/surface charge on the tractor battery, the charger worked!! Thanks again!!😅
Holt crap! It worked! Hooked my Subaru battery to my deep cycle batt, with jumper cables and then started car. Turn car off and let sit for 5 mins… then reconnected battery charger… it recognized it and started charging! Thx!🙏
Hello from the Fiji Islands. Wow, that was such an easy fix. Hubby couldn't believe it. He was just about to smash the charger against the wall as it was only reading a 6V battery instead of the 12V. We have a Powertech Plus MB-3611. The spare 12V battery is one we use for our gold high banker. Def worth a connection with you and a like👍🌞🌺🌊
Thank you Bud, this worked perfectly, only thing I did differently was i have an old mechanic style charger that is stuck on 12v jump so i hooked it to the battery for 3 min and monitored the voltage with a multimeter, the jump setting put battery from 0.03v to 11.87v so I disconnected and hooked to the battery tender plus, it is charging now, big help watching your video
TY VERY MUCH. YOU SAVED ME FROM BELIEVING I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. I JUMP STARTED THE CAR, LET IT RUN FEW MINUTES, REVVED ENGINE A FEW SECONDS. TURNED OFF CAR. PUT MY BATTERY CHARGER ON AND IT WORKED
my charger has a disulfate function that can take over a day when the disulfate function completes the battery will then go into a ready state with a full charge. It is a Black & Decker smart charger MODEL: BC25EB It has Alternator test function and a 75 amp boost had it for many years. It was worth every penny of investment. During the winter months it is used as a battery tender. LOVE IT!! So far my battery is at 5 years old still going strong. I did notice you have several video's covering battery tenders which is really awesome. Here lately have have been thinking about solar tenders for my work van. This will keep the battery optimized all year long. The issue with me is that I use Converters to charge tools in my van while the van is not running that alone can reek havoc on a battery. I was told to run dual batteries but I am not sure. That would be a good video for you installing dual batteries in commercial vehicles. Just a thought.
Two helpful pieces of info I can add to this. you can also put a base level of charge back into a completely dead battery by disconnecting your battery cables ... hooking up your booster for say 20 secs at a time. I needed to do this 3 times to get a base level of charge in the battery so the "smart" charger would recognize that the battery was not completely dead and then it started the charging process. Second tip: If you are in a hurry to go .... just disconnect your battery cables from the battery and hook your booster pack up to the cables ..... the car will start. Then with the car started carefully replace the cables. If you run the car long enough you will get a charge back into this dead battery.
If I do the second method of disconnecting the terminals and jumping it from just the cables then reconnect battery once car is running, would I connect the positive terminal first then negative, or negative first then positive?
Great Video. I tried hooking the charger to battery, then hooked a standard 9v battery with wires between the clips, then plugged charger into the wall. The charger recognized and started charging, so I unhooked the 9v and it continued to charge no problem.
i Googled "E-1" error code and this video came up. Can confirm "over discharge" was the cause. Since the charger is only looking at the voltage and doesn't do a current pull any 12V DC source will work to "trick" the charger. I used my buddies charger and slid the clamps from his charger to mine while connected to the battery. You could probably stack x4 watch batteries if you wanted to MacGyver this.
Thanks for the video. A low enough or dead battery acts like a resistor. When jumping vehicle with another vehicle let the connection run for 5 minutes on 2k rpm.
That was some great information. Didn’t know why batteries that were dead for a long time the reason they won’t work. Hope mine can be resurrected, but now I know why it can’t if it doesn’t.
Can’t believe I didn’t know this. I had a problem with my smart trickle charger and it didn’t recognize my motorcycle battery. I tried an old analog charger and the amp needle would jump to Max then immediately fall back to zero then repeat. I took my power pack out gave it a charge, took a few tries ( including alarm system going off 🙄 which is why the battery was dead too 😉 )but got the analog 12v charger going for an hour or so then plugged in the trickle charger and seems to be charging now. Thanks!
Men you are the men I mean holy cow I watched other videos no help but this actually worked so impressed by it I went into this doubtful as hell but now men thank you
It seems like mine is being recognized at only 8 volts but the light turns green like its charged but there is no way it charged because it was only on for 2 hours. Any fix for this? its agm so i can't swap the fluid
My son's bmw has a AGM battery that I'm having the same issue with. My question is.. Can I use any good car battery (different CCA, brand, run hours, etc.) to do this, or do I have to use the exact same or type of battery to get the dead one to be able to charge?
An alternative to the car battery is an old-fashioned car battery charger without the sophisticated electronics in the modern chargers. I have one since decades and it helped in that situation since it charges regardless of the voltage of the empty battery.
Another way to do this, and if you don't have a good battery, but you do have a smart charger with Jumpstart ability, but it will not charger the dead battery, hit Jumpstart feature, let it count down, try this as many times as it takes, unless the battery is stone cold dead, it should bring it back enough to allow the smart charger function to begin to charge your battery.
I did this with my car with a battery that was sitting for a year and it worked. I didn't use another car though. I have a jumpstart portable battery bank and I plugged onto my car battery and jump started my dead battery (multimeter was reading like .042v). I let it run for like a minute while pressing the gas in neutral. Checked my multimeter and it read 13v and and I turned off my car and unplugged my battery and plugged in the charger and it started working. Fingers crossed it can bring my battery back from death. I guess we'll see in 24 hours. You're a life saver. Thanks for the tip.
Hi I’m Paul I’ve got an assist battery bike the battery is dead trying to get charger but it’s been on the bike for about three year with out getting charged or used will it charge up
Appreciate the insight. QUESTION: According to your video on "Difference Between Float and Trickle Charger"; under the conditions that the Schumaker Model you described, will the "bad" battery, that has been sitting too long that you referred to here,,,,, be restored back to working condition if the Schumaker brand is used with the de-sulfate option because the crystals are now broken up.... hence allowing the automatic charger method you used here to work once again? Pardon my ignorance on the matter the most I know is what i just learned from you. cheers
Sorry for the late reply. It totally depends on how long the lead sulfate has been on the plates, how thick it is, and a myriad of other factors. I think the desulfation/equalization modes are better for routine maintenance after a couple of deep-cycles (to knock off the newly formed lead sulfate as the battery's state of charge dropped) instead of trying to resurrect a battery that is already out of commission.
hmm. i did mine with a trickle charger and it charged up to 12.6 however when i put it back into my vector 800 jump starter it still has a low battery light.
When using jumper cables... IF you clamp the positive leads first instead of the negative leads to a car battery, when you go to clamp the negatives they will spark. Clamp the negatives first. Remove the negatives last.
you could start at minute 2 and cut the video length in half - more viewers would watch from beginning to end and your Search Engine Optimization would rise exponentially
Thanks for the video. Was able to get my battery from 4v to 11v by using your method (but charger still reads same FULL on 4v and 11v). With meter you can watch volts drop down again. i have charger in repair mode now.
Just realized I recorded this with a close-up lens, hence the blurriness. 😭 Sorry for that.

Ohhh you solved my problem in no time. Many thanks
Took my battery to Autozone and they couldnt charge it. I did what you said and now its charging! I hope for the best. thanks.
Thanks very much. It worked for my golf cart!
Thanks man, this is awesome, and just saved my boat battery
Worked perfectly. Thank you!
Saved me a lot of hassle, thanks man.
Thank you for this! Worked like a charm. You'd think Battery Tender would mention this in their manual.
You'd think they would make a battery charger that would actually charge a dead battery which is the very reason we bought a battery charger right

Thanks man, my smart charger wouldn't recognize my battery. Gave it a little charge from a booster for a few seconds and it fixed the issue.
I can’t thank the two of you enough, the video and your comment together saved my car battery that I almost gave up on!
@@Ampelm4n Hell yeah, happy to hear that.

I believe your video just saved my life
It works! Thank you so much! I trick my trickle charger!
Jetski battery was at 5 volts charger wouldn’t charge. Tried this hack and good to go… thank you so much. These new smart chargers aren’t so smart…
Awesome! Glad to have helped!
Great Video.
I tried hooking the charger to battery, then hooked a standard 9v battery with wires between the clips, then plugged charger into the wall. The charger recognized and started charging, so I unhooked the 9v and it continued to charge no problem.
Worked great. Clear explanation. Thanks 👍

Car battery that is ;)
Awesome!
Very informative! Ty!

Thanks! Worked like a charm.
Thanks so much! My battery died because of cold weather so I had to bring it inside, then charge it with the car so the charger would work.
You are a live saver my friend.
Should i start the vehicle first and connect the cables or connect the cable first before starting the vehicle sir?
I was having same problem no connection then i connected Jumpstarter for 10 sec and it recognized it and started charging thanks for help!!
thank you!
It worked in my motorcycle battery
Thank you
Awesome! Glad you are back up and running! 🍻
this worked great. thank you. saved me $50 for a new battery
Awesome! Happy to have helped!
Thanks a million for sharing your genius , you have saved two battery's from the dump.

What about lithium battery’s? How bad are they of left uncharged for say a couple months.

This worked. Thank you!

Yes agreed ..old school does not protect from charging into an assumed dead short eg dead battery.
@@davidbarlow269my one has at least a fuse like in cars to protect against exceeding current.

Im curious to know, if the battery can be desulfated. My battery shows over 12 volts and at 28 percent health according to my battery tester.
