Watching Mr. R flow like water with sheik on smashville is so mesmerizing. Izaw is like my favorite smash content creator ever. Makes the most informative guides out there. It looks like the next art-of vid is going to be on M2, my main lol I can’t wait!
@Zantation 1v1r if you can't even say two words without looking like an idiot by using an incorrect word, then you probably shouldn't partake in debates.
I have long since stopped playing Smash 4 (mainly because friends stopped, I still adore the game) .. but my God, I love these videos. There's something warm and comforting about them, like a home-cooked meal. Thanks for all the work that you and your helpers do.
I love how you represent characters from a range of tiers and cover their weaknesses and strengths! You help the meta grow by being unbiased torwards which characters to learn, and that's awesome! keep it up boiiii
The meta would’ve been so much more interesting if Shiek was at the top (still arguably is, but I mean considerably above the rest). Instead we got e-z bake combos and camping (bayonetta), my sword is so big it must be compensating for something (cloud), and banana in shield to be safe from the onset of depression (diddy). The unholy trinity.
I...I...wow...this speaks to me! This is exactly what I think, I feel Cloud is the worst offender just cause I like Sword characters...but good gosh. I ALWAYS felt Sheik was the most fun character to watch, she's fast, has a lot of options and is hard to play optimally...everything about her is not only fun to watch but it meshes with what Smash 4 was originally about, the one thing it had over Melee being good animations and option coverage in certain areas being bigger and more in favor to the way shiek plays. TL;DR Nerfing her was a mistake...but Cloud (not so much) and Bayo existing is an even bigger mistake. Why put so much effort to learn Sheik when you can stall using an even more broken recovery and get easy wins via Bayo's Down B?! :/
At 26:37 Holy god, is that like Mr.'s Morning exercises??!??! I never realized how much control a pro Sheik actually has over their character. Wow... That was the most fluid Sheik movement I've ever seen!
Last time I called it a masterpiece, but you're always able to reach even higher grounds. Your perfect editing reminds me of expensive car advertisements on the big screen with carefully chosen themes, music and feel, you nailed it, again. Thank you!
10/10 video as usual, Izaw. Always look forward to these, they are always worth the wait. Super great editing, very concise and well-done script, useful and informative visuals... the works.
Ftilt is a 50/50, dtilt can be a true confirm (though you need to space for the tipper), uthrow is a 50/50 against several meta-relevant characters, offstage needles-bfish, soft nair-bfish, dthrow/fthow on a platform below 90% is guaranteed to uair, crossup bair-fsmash if they don't know the MU, fair strings against heavies lead to bfish 50/50s offstage at certain percents, utilt at ledge - needles - fair - bfish at mid percents, any Smashville tilt extensions at lower percents, edgeguards in ~20% of MUs, dragdown uair - smash attack at very high %, usually as a ledge option. That's all I know. Additions are very welcome. Yes, I know you were joking. But we Sheik mains don't joke about killing. We cry about it.
Fair downb doesn't combo before 80%. Shortly after, DI away saves them. If you predict a chance to get ftilted you can DI away, and ftilt doesn't 50/50 vs DI away. The hit-them-till-they-die route is the safest path; the rest are mostly gimmicky. In most match-ups they shouldn't even be able to kill you if you play well.
Fair downb can confirm as low as 50% in some situations against lighter characters; which is why Sheik's utilt setup at ~50% at the ledge against lightweights is a kill confirm. DI away will not save you from ftilt 50/50 at most percents; though it can with specific characters at the upper bound. "The hit-them-till-they-die route is the safest path" No shit. Compared to, what, not hitting them and not killing them?
1. Another great video with in-depth explanations and great editing. The only thing it's missing would be what stages are best/worst for her. Regardless, hats off to you good sir. 2. #VoiDCombos 3. I was a fan of Mr.R before, but holy crap give this man the respect 26:35
I've wanted to learn to play Sheik for quite awhile now. Firstly, because she covers for a lot of Lucario's bad matchups (Lucario being my main). And secondly, because I think she's really cool and looks like a lot of fun. And more specifically, because she's so opposite to Lucario. But it's that complete opposition to Lucario that has made it really difficult for me to learn her. But with this guide, I hope to finally pick her up as my #1 secondary to cover for Lucario's bad matchups. Thanks, Izaw! (:
Such an awsome tutorial and i love how to the side you explained how to safely DI I honestly love that and would recommend you doing it more in later "Art of's" Also I'd love an Art of Lucas or updated Cloud art lol idk but i love your work keep it up and i would love if you had training sessions on 3ds because well i don't have Wiiu XD but anyway Keep up the great work!
Izaw you should analyze games and upload them. You seem very analytical, similar to Dabuz. Analyzing pro matches would give us great insight as of what we need to do. Just a suggestion.
I remember the old Melee days where I fought many people who'd exclusively use Sheik. One player actually killed my Samus (still heavy then) with her dash attack at a super high percentage. In spite of her top tier status, I see more fellow Samus users then her in For Fun team matches.
Hey Izaw! Just wanted to say that I love your content! I am always looking forward to watching your videos, and your guides are of the highest quality and they cover a lot of information that no one else is showing! Thank you for all of the great videos so far, keep up the great work!
Ive mained sheik pretty much since the beginning of the game love this character her speed and combos just really fit my playstyle but anyways this was a great video man good work
Wow... so many people give you money to make tutorials for their character and it's in the right hands these guides are so well-made it's incredible good work!
Red Blaze X I have one for you 1. Press start 2. Select quit to enter character select screen 3. Pick any other character on the roster to save your self from suffering.
Since Art of Duck Hunt actually has quite a bit of money going for it, I thought I might share some info here that’s kind of a secret (don’t expect anyone who doesn’t seriously main the character to know this trick shh). If you mess around with b-air, n-air, or dash attack, you’ll notice that most attacks with the duck have a sweetspot right on the beak. The sweetspot isn’t what is interesting in this situation- it’s that the sourspots on those 3 attacks have very weird launch angles (most noticeable on dash attack). Won’t expand on this because it’s a secret, but try hitting the Can with the sourspots on those attacks Shh
Sheik is actually the only bottom tier in lag; as Jigglypuff gets somewhat better and Ganon improves considerably. The precision required to play Sheik demands that she react extremely quickly and avoid trades; something that is simply impossible on FG, regardless of how much better than your opponent you may be. Believe me - as a Sheik main, I've lost with her to players on FG that my Puff would go on to 2-stock several times in a row. She's really that bad in lag.
I don't play Sheik at all, but I'm glad you made this guide regardless. It now gave me a bit more knowledge as to what I should look out for when I fight a Sheik. Thanks Izaw!
Yes. If you space yourself far away enough that the quickest version wouldn't reach, you can always react. The fastest version can't be reacted to which is why people still airdodge preemptively. Some people simply fall into it because they think you can react to any bouncing fish.
The crouchsliding only to the left is inaccurate, it can be done in both directions, but its more precise when you release the stick when doing it to the left. Diddy Kong is able to do it much easier, as he can do it out of monkey flip and gains a much larger momentum shift
Your vids are so awesome! I think you should redo older Arts of (for example Falco) because of the outdated version of smash! I would be so happy to see actual things about him and others! Keep it up man!:D
In order to be skilled with Sheik, you have to literally think like a ninja. Be quick, swift, safe, and ready to strike hard as soon as there's an opening.
Out of all characters that I have issues dealing with is, mostly, Sheik, but thanks to this guide, at least I can have some advantage to avoid whatever attacks she'll throw at me, and the kind of moves my own mains should counterattack.
Jewlz Cartagena Well, I have a huge list on who I main, but the ones I used the very most is mostly Fox, Toon Link, and Roy. Marth, Cloud, Ryu, Greninja, and Mario are secondaries to me, and I can handle playing about half of the roster. The hardest characters to beat, for me, are Zero Suit Samus, Bayonetta, and Sheik. Mostly because of what I tried to counterattack with, these characters do combo strings, my way of saying "true combos," and died easily. Online, either I'm fighting a human with mistakes, or robots that know when my next attack will be before I even commence the attack.
For everyone out there that has played sheik and discovered other techniques for Sheik, the grounded wavebounce is the same as a c-bounce. (Wasn't covered in the video, but just saying.)

Watching Mr. R flow like water with sheik on smashville is so mesmerizing. Izaw is like my favorite smash content creator ever. Makes the most informative guides out there. It looks like the next art-of vid is going to be on M2, my main lol I can’t wait!

James Surovik Mewtwo has the most donations on his patreon page. It’s in his description box.
All that movement and sheik still can't win a tournament lmao sheik sucks
Zantation 1v1r real good way to deconstruct an argument.
@Zantation 1v1r if you can't even say two words without looking like an idiot by using an incorrect word, then you probably shouldn't partake in debates.
Amazing editing + great explained, very useful for Shiek players and those who don´t play her
BaSr Upon first inspection I thought this said very useful for sheik player who don’t don’t play her
Cool! Art of that one character that always dies in that intro!
I have long since stopped playing Smash 4 (mainly because friends stopped, I still adore the game) .. but my God, I love these videos. There's something warm and comforting about them, like a home-cooked meal. Thanks for all the work that you and your helpers do.

Diddy has to many options to be good, its just that he has a harder time to exploit those advantages compared to the other two
Bayo is actually really complicated to play well/consistently, that's why Salem is the only Bayo that does CONSISTANTLY well.
Yeah, I really agree. Sheik is the only really good character who takes any skill to learn... Bayo, Cloud and Daddy barely have a skill floor at all
"Bayo has no skill floor" are you for real lol
Beautifully made. Amazing music too. Keep it up IzAw
At 26:37 Holy god, is that like Mr.'s Morning exercises??!??!
I never realized how much control a pro Sheik actually has over their character. Wow... That was the most fluid Sheik movement I've ever seen!
This is so high quality! The only thing better than the amazing visual effects and pacing is the information about how Sheik plays.
Art of losing to rage
Art of raging about rage

Thank you!

AD_Townsend Art of Mr. R
VoiD is clearly better than Mr.R don't hate me but that's just my opinion
AD_Townsend I know.
AD_Townsend yeah but mr.r is more consistent across the board, but i love void more too
Mr. R usually kills opponents a lot later, like at over 200%, but he usually gets killed less...
Great! I was waiting for this. Also amazing video and in-depth explanation.
Welp!! That concludes all the Legend of Zelda characters. And literally saved the BEST for last. 😅
Sheik is amazing. Thanks for making another Art video! The character who has appeared in more Smash titles than Zelda titles xD
10/10 video as usual, Izaw. Always look forward to these, they are always worth the wait. Super great editing, very concise and well-done script, useful and informative visuals... the works.

great video, great look and tone, i remember you said in a BotW video that you work on art of shiek, i can see your dedication here
Izaw makes the greatest smash content. Hands down, no competition.
This video series is very well done and I enjoy watching every video! Keep up the great content!
Your editing is what really pushes these videos to that 10/10 watchability man
7:21 The running f-tilt cancel in the combo. Nice.
I like how your videos give excellent insight into the characters so you don't only teach how to play but also how to play against
Pretty amazing how much you can learn from a character. Great video!
26:36 ok mr R calm down
It was really impressive and mesmerizing. Sheik was flowing like a fish, but in the air. :O

Won’t expand on this because it’s a secret, but try hitting the Can with the sourspots on those attacks

Thanks i was waiting for this video for so long
So Bouncing fish works like Corrin’s instapin
Is it bad I didn’t know that
I think its almost as bad that I didn't know Corrins instapin works like Shieks down b...
If you're talking about how you can choose the moment to attack after starting the move then yeah, I guess they are similar
Yes. If you space yourself far away enough that the quickest version wouldn't reach, you can always react. The fastest version can't be reacted to which is why people still airdodge preemptively. Some people simply fall into it because they think you can react to any bouncing fish.
