国道1号線に接した崖地の下から突如として現れる柿田川湧水群
1日110万トンの日本一の湧水量を誇る日本一短い一級河川は
都市部のど真ん中に忽然と現れ、わずか1.2㎞で狩野川に合流していきます。
Kakita River`s natural spring can be spotted from the cliffside adjacent to National Highway 1.
In just one day, Japan`s shortest river proudly produces 1.1 million tons of pristine spring water. Kakita River flows 1.2 km through metropolitan eastern Shizuoka, before merging with the Kano River.
富士山に降った雨や雪が地下に流れ込んで地下水となり、三島溶岩流の間を約28年の月日をかけてゆっくりと流れ、柿田川公園付近で湧き出しています。
柿田川はこの湧水を水源とし、四万十川、長良川とともに日本三大清流といわれています。

地下で自然浄化された水は透明度が極めて高い清水で、年間を通じて15度前後の一定した水温であるため、他の川と比べて夏は冷たく、冬は暖かく感じられるという特徴を持っています。
It`s pristinely clear spring waters are naturally purified underground. Interestingly, it maintains a constant temperature of 15 degrees (celsius) year-round, making it feel cool in the summer, and relatively warm in the winter.
晩秋に狩野川のアユが産卵のために大量に柿田川に入ってくるのも、きれいであたたかい柿田川の水が狩野川に流れ込んでいるためだといわれています。
Kakita River`s clear and temperate waters provides an oasis, where in late fall, sweetfish migrate from the Kano River to spawn.
豊富な湧水は清水町のみならず、静岡県東部地域（沼津市、三島市、熱海市、函南町）35万人の飲料水として供給されています。
