Dear Adrian and Carole, I visited this museum when I was a teenager. I loved Jane Austen’s books and found her inspiring. She died when she was only 41! Amazing how much she accomplished in her short life. This was an amazing tour and has brought back so many memories. I think I’m due for another visit. Those shutters are common here in Pennsylvania in some of the early 1800’s houses. When I built an addition on my old stone house, I made sure those shutters were created on the new windows. Lizzie was wonderful. Thank you for the wonderful tour. xx
What a treat to be given a tour of Jane Austen's house. Reminds me a bit of my tour of Emily Dickinson's house in Amherst, Massachusettes. Emily never married either, but her house seems palatial in comparison. My mother came from a family of eight in a house similar in size to Jane's. It is incredible that Jane got the scope and contradictions of all of English society from such seemingly humble surroundings. But I suppose her family would be considered middle-class then.
Thank you so much for the tour of Jane Austin's home. She is one of my favorite authors. I'm a bit jealous of all the history that surrounds you in all of Europe. Thanks again for the treat ❤
Fantastic, Thank you Adrian, Carole & Lizzie! I used to read Jane's books to the kids often, as my daughter got older she read them to me, great missed times....
Thank you Carole and Adrian for taking us on the house tour of Jane Austin it was very nice and interesting Happy Holidays to you all see you soon take care 💕🌼🤗
Wow, I loved this so much! Thank you for sharing with us. I distinctly remember reading Pride and Prejudice in high school and have loved Jane’s books ever since.
I loved Jane Austen house. I visited in 2017 and was thrilled to be in the house she lived in and see the table she wrote on. I am a big Jane Austen fan and have all her books and visited all the houses that the films were filmed at. We were privileged to meet a relative of Jane Austen through her brother at her house. We can only imagine how many more amazing novels she would of continued to write if she lived longer.❤🇦🇺

Yes the house had so much history and more to follow 😊
Thank you for bringing us along with you both on this incredible tour! It was really interesting exploring Jane Austen's home and getting all this insight into her life. I especially liked that quilt! A beautiful home in what seemed like a lovely neighborhood too. Lizzie the tour guide was wonderful and so knowledgeable. Happy holidays Adrian, Carole, and Beth!
I love Jane Austen and the books written by her. Thank you so much for the tour of her home. As I am disabled and cannot travel it was wonderful to see. Thank you once again and may I wish you and your family plus YTers a Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year
Oh my I just loved this video. I’m from Florida and I visited here in 2015 with my daughter that just graduated high school at that time. We really enjoyed this so very much and I will never forget our trip to England. I want to go back.
Beautiful home . Bring up 8 children in that home , wow it would of been a bit cramped. Lovely area . The wallpaper was remarkable. Being able to copy the original was outstanding. A lot of research went into this home . I wish we could of seen more. Nice day out.
Hi Carole & Adrian, this was such a nice video. Love Jane Austin...& of course Mr. Darcy! So very true, we never explore where we live. Such a pretty area as well. Great to see you both, hope you are well. 🎄Thank you so much, take care. Lots of love Kathy x ❤
I was just there in October. I am a huge Austen fan. That little road with the inn across the street was actually the main road to London at the time so incredibly busy, horses being changed at the inn, constant traffic. It is a short walk down to where her brother lived on the big estate he inherited from a cousin. Jane, her sister Cassandra and her mother were lent this house by her brother after their father died and they were nearly destitute. They all spent a lot of time at her brother's, having dinner, enjoying the big gardens, the library. The staff of both this house, like Lizzie that you met, and at the Chawton estate were incredibly kind and informative, showing you around and answering questions. Loved it.
What a very pleasant surprise, visiting Jane Austen’s home!!!! Thank You for bringing us along … I was 15 when I first read one of Her novel (that was a while ago) that brought back in time, in Jane Austen’s time. Since then, I have read many of Her novels, seen many series, films based on Her novels many times…Seeing where She lived, the wallpapers that where part of Her sight, where She wrote Her wonderful stories is a privilege that You have permitted me to see. Thanks again Carole and Adrian (you as well Beth) and blessings 😊
Wanted to let you all know how much o enjoy watching your channel. Ive watched since you all drove around the curve in the road leading to your chateau the first time! I cant catch but one word in 10 that Ash says when he is talking since he gets so excited! Bit his meaning comes across loud and clear!
Thank you Adrien and Carol for this little treasure visit to Jane Austin house. I loved her novels as a teen and loved the movies as a young Mother. I have a husband that would watch with me. So cool. ♥️🇨🇦
Hi Carole and Adrian, I too love Jane Austin, it's nice to take a trip back intime. I am definitely going to check out their website. I would love to see the progress that they make and look at their fund raising. This was such a treat, thanks for taking us along. Hi Beth. Love from N.Y.
Carol, I just returned from visiting London with my family. We were walking near St James Palace when my adult daughter goes “I just saw Mr Darcy! “ Matthew Macfadyen was walking by. I only saw him from behind but it certainly looked like him. Thank you for the tour, I enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for this tour Carole, Adrian, and Lizzie. When I’m particularly unwell I listen to audiobooks by Jane Austen. I wouldn’t be surprised if I could retell pride and prejudice word for word. I also have an interest in historical dress and historical sewing. I haven’t been feeling great the past few days and have(I’m sure you noticed) been catching up on all of your videos I’ve missed recently. It was so fun to have all of my interests crash together in this one video! I was right there with you admiring the block painted wall paper and with Adrian opening and closing the shutters. Thank you so much again. As always, it’s only ever been Mr Darcy. 😉
Oh, this is on my ultimate bucket list. My favorite book is Persuasion, but I am a fan of Mr. Darcy too. Wonderful, fantastic video of showing this beautiful building, history, and art!
Lovely home. Thanks for the details on the quilt. Riley Blake fabric company produced a line of fabrics that inspired by/ reproductions of the fabrics on this quilt. And they reproduced the quilt design as a pattern. I don't know if it is still available. But I do have a kit of my own and will get to making it soon.
What a treat! Thank you for sharing with us! I would never have seen otherwise. I find her life and work very interesting, a fascination with her as well as Beatrix Potter. Hopefully it'll be sooner than later for more restoration to be done. Beautiful rooms and home
I really enjoyed this. I have visited many years ago but it’s inspired me to go again. Carole always looks nice but looked especially good in this - you’ll have to up your game Adrian …
The JA house is a perfect example of a modest middle class house of the 18th century. So light and tasteful. BTW, our family had an 1820s stone house in Pennsylvania -- it was very similar, right down to the interior shutters.
May your home be filled with joy, your heart with love, and your life with laughter this Christmas. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Barbara i Piotr🌲❤️
My favorite Mr. Darcy ! How amazing you guys you've outdone yourselves today WOW What a treat THANK YOU ILL WATCH THIS SEVERAL TIMES LOLOLOL My goodness how fantastic this is
I always presumed the Europeans had the interior window shutters inside their houses to block the sun. I'm old enough to remember my grandmother closing draped curtains to block the sun here in the US. The sun really faded fabrics. Is my presumption correct?

A lot of chateaux have them on the outside with curtains inside. It’s surprising how much heat the shutters hold in and out
Thank you for the video. Visiting England April/May using Southampton as our base. Will definitely try and visit Shoreham and Jane Austen's house. Definitely a fan of hers.
