Actually she calmed me down. Because I also feel dumb in school, and It is good to hear it from someone, who is way more succesful.
She dropped out of school at 14 and had sex with a producer to get roles. Hardly successful.
@@vrinda5303 damn dont tell people lie when u didnt know the truth lol
Same
Me too Especially Math I'm so clueless Lol but it's nice to hear stuff like that from successful people
@@rmeizennochoa8024 im really bad at math my grade in math is a C+ because 7th grade math is hard
I love J Law. She's relatable and honest. This entire interview is very inspiring. She knew what she wanted to do and went after it.
I wasn't good at math either. But hey, look where you are today! :-)
you would too, if you had her looks/charm...
odvedokikrema, yeah that helps, but she is a good actress, at least, i think so. So she is talented :-)
there are many talented actresses out there, but without the looks, this level of success is impossible...
Looks can only get you so far...
there's always plastic surgery.
School is not for artistic minds. If you're lucky you'll come out of it unscathed, or even better you are capable of being both artistic and an intellectual. I was super artistic as a child. I would draw on EVERYTHING. Books, hw planners, tests, anything. Instead of being encouraged I was shamed all my school years for loving to draw. I was made to feel stupid for having zero interest in academics and pouring over my sketch books all the time. Its one thing if other kids bully you but its another if the adults who are supposed to build you up are the ones tearing at you. It got to a point where I have anxiety and get really depressed when I try to make/draw anything. The system did a really good job crushing my soul and creativity. Its been 10 years and I'm slowly picking up the drawing pencil again. One doodle at a time, working my way back to painting and sculpting.
Good for Jennifer Lawrence for getting out before it destroyed her.
That's the goal they want you to be a robot and get into the 9-5 lifestyle! conform conform conform. I truly hope you are doing what you want now and happy doing it! Have a phenomenal day
Um, no. I'm a visual artist and a musician, and I also have a Master's in computer engineering. People make excuses.
It isn't necessary to be good in school, but, um, let's not make generalities.
I have a friend who literally think she's stupid and worthless at math even to this day just because she grew up getting insulted and sometimes physically assaulted by her father just because she got low on a math test. Her dad is no longer living with them but still the trauma and the stigma around math lingers.
I'm the same way I have been hiatus of drawing for 6 years :'((( but I'm taking graphic design in college on August so I'm excited to pick up pencil again and let my imagination runs wild. I also really bad at math
I'm doing my last year in high school, but i also go to a music academy after school. I play guitare and the piano. I must say that the I used to have a lot of time to play, so I played well. nowadays i have no time to play because school is taking all my time & I still have to study 6 years. School really does destroy creativity, I've always wondered how well I would play If I just dropped out 😔
Math gives me a headache.
Klaudia Arriera lol same. I have tutoring in math and I still suck at it.
EXACTLY
Math is headache
@@oatmealwithberries3257 not for smart person
@@imme246 Same lol
I think anyone would relate to something she says here. I certainly did although i finished school. Good for her finding what she was meant for.
I thought the title read "I really struggled with METH"
...
Tee Eff same 😂
😂oh my god
OMG THIS 😆🙌
Same
lmao
I really resonate with her, I feel like just because society has chosen a specific way to teach and this line determines academic ability, doesn’t mean it’s a good system for every person. We all learn differently we all think differently and some people are a genius in math & some a genius at making people feel emotion. We need a different measuring stick I think and also to stop saying bc someone has high grades this is smart as if someone who hasn’t finished school is not smart. I think that’s dumb lol. 😜
Sure, not knowing how to calculate tips though, that requires particularly short measuring stick.
Maya's Channel that so true thank you for saying that I thought I was the only one to think that way
I don't think she said that mathematics was not important (as a universal species, we would not be able to function without it). I think she was just acknowledging that while maths is important, it is still only one part of a wide spectrum of skills and abilities that an individual may have and thus it should be used as an instrument measure each person's ability to contribute to society. That Albert Einstein quote comes to mind, 'Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid'.
school system was created to produce functional adults, so you can take one person educated in place A, put them in place B, and get consistent result. Certain people will do well in this system. But our brain aren't wired consistently so some children will have to suffer through this. With computer and AI on the horizon, we will have to change how we view intelligence and educate better.
saimon174666 you’re dumb for thinking that math is only about calculating tips
Nothing but relatable. I’m in college and i plan on finishing but math is a whole other language. I took algebra 3 times in high school, it was so bad i was a junior in an algebra class with freshman. And in my first 2 years of college i had to retake this specific math class 3 times before i passed. I always felt out of place too like i was so stupid and the only one that doesn’t get it. I’m glad Jen can help people with a very common insecurity. You’re not dumb Jennifer! Xoxo 💋
Kitty Kat20 Don’t feel bad. I was in pre-algebra my senior year with all of the freshmen. I didn’t tell anyone I was a senior until it was graduation time.
Omg really so I’m not alone that’s the only reason I don’t want to go back to school is because of math. I have some of my basic done in community college..
Same thing for me.
I hate math so much. It's just the worst.... I've always liked Science, History and art, but math....NO THANKS!
YEP. Same!
So you like science, but not math? You can not learn science without math in college.
Math is the language of science. How on earth can you like science if you dislike math??
I actually adore maths
Sienna Owens who wants to break it to Sienna?
I relate to this on a personal level😭😭😭 so glad that someone as successful as her felt the same way about feeling “stupid” in school as I do!
Only subjects I was good at was English and History but that's about it so I can relate
Mega MovieZ same and i was good at science too btw but that it lol
@@ashleyshim2078 Were you able to physics?
personally I suck at it and maths lol
@@47dark Same
The only thing im good at in school is english and mandarin🗿
as someone with a learning disability i'm wondering if maybe Jennifer has a learning disability too since she struggled so much in school but hearing someone like her saying this makes me feel a lot better because when i was a kid i thought i was stupid too and bullies use to make fun of me for having a learning disability and it also made me keep to myself
she is definitely neurodiverse.
I had learning disability 1-12 grade and was put in the learning disability class. MATH WAS THE WORSE for me. Numbers are not my friend
I always felt like she has ADHD which explains her personality at times but maybe she's dyslexic as well.
This goes to show that our traditional way of determining intelligence is flawed. She clearly has high intelligence - she is not only witty and fast on her feet, the way she spontaneously reasons about deep meaningful subjects in interviews at occasions (when interviewers dig a little deeper than the usual fun) is inspiring.
I'm at uni, I still struggle while everyone just freaking gets it😪
That's why I use photomath
bankaispirits math papa is good too
Yes
bankaispirits lmao
Lol very expensive you have to pay for it.
all my life i've been so stupid in math im in grade 11 and i still dont know the entire multiplication table or even do basic fractions and etc the only reason i got this far because im always finding a way to cheat somehow im so worried about college because i dont know if im able to continue this strategy
Update?
How r u now
This is literally how I feel in math class. I don‘t understand anything tbh, it takes me so long
I don't feel alone now!
now you can throw pitagoras from your bed
Maxine XX
This is without a single of a doubt the most relatable video on youtube!
I definitely have to put way more work into math than the average person, which sucks and makes me feel stupid at times. But unlike the average person, I can sit down to a guitar or piano and music flows out of me without ever having had one lesson. Math is much more vital to our every day human work and operations. My flavor of intelligence may not contribute to my future or survival, but it’s something little that I can be proud of...
I COULD NOT RELATE MORE THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL
I’m struggling with algebra so much and I’m only in 8th grade. My dream is to be an actress and what adds on to my struggle is that I under that I won’t need this kind of math in my later life practically at all. My mom is an ultrasound technician and I asked her when she ever used the math she was taught in school and she said never did she use the algebra she was taught. It calms me to know that successful people also struggled with this subject, since she is a great role model of who I want to be in the future.
I relate with her about math so much, I'm going through that rn
She’s so relatable. Is good to see a very famous person acting like this: just Normal.
So relatable. This is how I’m feeling in maths class.
So brave of her sharing such a vulnerable side to her!
I had a really hard time in school too. Specifically when I was in elementary. Secondary school gave me such anxiety and pain. Yet I excelled in college and love it. Huh. #BA #MBA
That's amazing girl!
not everyone is meant to be academically smart...if they were we wouldn't have our greatest actors, movie directors, singers, etc.
So you assume that actors aren't successful in academics and their acting career?.
I always struggle with math. I’m learning now through TH-cam videos to pass nursing school. 😔
Does health sciences major have math?
Rooting for you!! ❤️
Why some ppl get mad when other ppl say they’re not good at math
Outsider Because it's math! It's not like chemistry or informatics, where you study lots of weird stuff. It's just some formulas that you have to remember. If you have any logic at all, you don't struggle with it.
Because those who are not good in math tend to have plenty of credit card debt!
You see maths is pure logic
Where if u study it u become smart and if u r smart u fukin love it
@@xyzw10 "If you have any logic at all, you don't struggle with it." That might be the dumbest thing I've ever read.
The interviewier was extremely gentle man. 😊
People understand *dyslexia,* but we're punished for bad math skills :-/
It's called *dyscalculia.* Get with it, teachers!
Yes true
Poor math always getting a bad wrap. I think a lot has to do with both the teacher and the way it's being taught but also confidence within yourself. I struggled with math in school but just had to do it at uni 10years later and it was a totally different much more positive experience.
She's so relatable. Every interviewer just warms up to her everytime
Im also striggling with math.
Math is the worst :)
Yeah if your not smart enough
@@blossom5831 That’s not true. I personally love math, but that’s not because I’m “smart enough.” It’s because I appreciate the often unseen beauty in mathematics (one of my favorite examples is the Gaussian Integral; although it’s a single variable problem, it requires multi variable calculus to solve, and the result is incredible, so anyone interested should definitely check it out). Intelligence isn’t restricted to one’s mathematical and scientific abilities. Intelligence can also be about how well you understand other people, or how strategically and effectively you can act in a difficult situation. Many people are smart for different reasons, so if someone doesn’t like math, that doesn’t mean that they lack intelligence; it simply means that their intelligence may have to do with something other than math. Perhaps they’re really emotionally intelligent. For the record, I do wish that math wasn’t as hated as it is, and I honestly think that the common negative opinion towards math is largely due to it being a misunderstood subject.
I feel like everyone has at least one subject they struggle with and I definitely relate with the topic of science, math I’ve always found ok but lately I’m turning into someone who despises math because I’m getting worse as it gets harder
I adore her. I couldn't care less if she doesn't have a GED. Lots of losers have college degrees and they aren't making $20 million per film
A lot of people are college educated and are dumb as rocks and not even remotely successful in life, and then there are folks who barely finished high school and are running million dollar businesses. School does not determine success in life.
I’ve always struggled with math as well. It can make you feel really stupid. It’s an awful feeling.
This is why I Love Jlaw, she is so open and human
I don't know why some people criticize her with this at least she is honest! I struggled too and I'm here to admit it not everyone is good at EVERYTHING!
I was good up to parts of Algebra and then I didn't have a clue as to what was going on. And then the teachers ended up yelling at me when I didn't get it fast enough for them.
I HATE math. It destroyed my whole life and still destroys it.
SAME
But imagine if we were leaving before calculators. Could be worse lol.
omg right :D
lol
Math is difficult I struggled with it! Your not alone but you have a great job that you love! So in the end everything is ok!
This is how i felt at school all the time foreal i thought i was the only one
Same same i really really really really struggled with math but i still managed to study medicine :)
A great advert for the utter pointlessness of school in general
I don't believe you have to be good in academics in order to succeed in life. If you find something your passionate about that's going to give you the same result or even better.
I feel the same way when it comes to math. People use to think that I was a math and science nerd. No I love acting, writing, art, music etc.
Yeah math is not my strong suit either
Me too. Failed miserably on ACT! 😂
I'm Her .. she's mee lolol I love her XD
I’m encouraged! Ms. Lawrence. Thank you!
#NotMathGeek
love how relatable she is
Wow, if that ain't me. I relate so much JLaw
I can't even put to words how relatable this is.
Girl, math was my worst subject too!
I was bad at math too. I didn't get an A in math until 11th grade.
I understand her...math is hard for me too...I wish I could just take music :)
I really love you Jennifer lawrence. I feel like I can truly relate to you on so many levels. I’d love to meet you someday! I support everything you do ❤️❤️ you’re awesome!
Its not your fault hun.. our education system sucks in America. Heck I suck at Math but I was pretty darn good at Algebra. My cousins in India are better at Math than me and learn a higher level of math at a younger age. If I were in India I'd be better at Math.
I hated math
She said in the lie detector test she doesn’t leave big tips and here she mentions leaving a 98% tip lol... to be fair very easy to contradict ones self when you’re doing so much promo, I like her she’s very genuine just should be careful not to get too political it can come across as a preacher some times
I am a big fan of math, but I’m an even bigger fan of Jennifer Lawrence!!!
I can feel her 😭😭
I’m not good at math and I thought i am dumb but hey, look where u are today!!!!!!! Ur awesome Jen and i love ur humor and you are always so calm but u make things so funny 😂
i thought the title said “i really struggled with meth”
She's the most relatable celeb hands down
lol she is not alone!
the title is the most relatable thing ever
I am watching this while I am in math class
Aww the interviewer was so sweet
I love her so much. 💕
You’re not alone Jen.
The only thing I know about math is that it’s related to science.
This may sound stupid but I always look for videos of people who relate to me being the odd one put in school intelligent wise I was never smart in school no mater how hard I tried I was never natural smart all I ever look for is people who relate to me so I don’t feel so alone
She just described me perfectly.
Same. Feel so good to know I'm not alone ugh. She needs the tip calculator app. There's even an option where you can split the cheque.
I can relate to her so much 👌
She is best actress ever❤
Me too girl. And now here I am on TH-cam. No regrets. They need our kind too.
I use a tip calculator app which is super helpful! And whenever someone mentions numbers I just panic. If I could just relax in those moments and actually think I might be ok...but no.
I struggle with math too it’s okay
homeboys gonna like.. get it
this is so authentic
Let’s go Jen I struggled in math and I felt the same way thx man
Maths was just just a nightmare
that's why i LOVE her! :)
No one is dumb math is just bulls..t .
i am possibly the worst at math. i cant count multiplication 6 to 9 without a calculator. im that bad.
Bestie We are in the same boat , still can’t ether
I feel her like seriously who doesn't feel like that in math even though i finished high school say 6 7 months ago now i well forever remember that pain i wanna be an actor and honestly if some gave me that question i low key might tear up 🤣😵
Why do I relate to this? Yeah I suck at math. Omggg the thing with the tip. I just love her :))))
I relate to this so much
I suck at Math
why ?)
Thought the title said "meth".
Relatable so relatable
New role model check
Same im latterly so dumb I struggle so HARD WITH MATH 😭😐😐
In math i'm really bad. And i feel the same thing she said in class like "i'm stupid? I'm the only one who doesn't understand ?'' But i accept that. And i work in the other class
I feel her pain, was terrible at French and Chemistry.
"i felt stupid, i felt dumb"
*wins hunger games*
