Apart from phos, rutile also got quite a big change within her mentally, from losing paparashcha. It pains me to see her becoming like that, but I was also kind of happy for her being like that, she's pretty close to the embodiment of humanity herself too
Rutile has big abusive vibes imo. [Spoiler ahead] Even after Pad returned to Earth and literally gave Rutile a “key" to her resurrection, Rutile didn't awaken Padparadscha, instead just she was just dragging dormant Pad around. And before Foss left the Earth, Rutile said that she wanted Pad to be awaken by her hands. For me it seems she cares more about her control over Pad than her well-being.

And the scene with baby phos- my heart! This is genuinely so cool
I really REALLY need to get off this thing out of my chest; the fact that the anime just serves as a prologue to the series makes me so mad. Not that I hate it or something, but because in the anime just when the first season ends all the interesting stuff was about to happen. Now, in this video you can see ALL THE SHIT that's happening in the manga right now and the way It's represented is so fucking accurated and attractive. This vid shows by short time how many potential the second season could have and the amount of fans it could get both in the West and the East. Tbh If it gets animated I see a bright future for the anime. TL;DR Houseki no Kuni is underrated and It deserves even more fans, but the only way to do that is to keep animating the following seasons and I'm so impatient help 😭😭
I think they _are_ trying to make a second season, but the thing is they're going with Beastars Season 2 right now, plus the HnK anime takes longer to render than Beastars. While we no longer have any hope left for the current situation in the manga, I think there is hope for a HnK season two, especially since it was received so well.

okay, but can we talk about how sad and depressing the segment from 2:30 to 3:03 is? It's so sad when you take the lyrics "I can't become a princess," "I can't return to those times," and "I can't win against this pain" into context of what exactly Phos has been through. It's them lamenting that no matter how hard they try, things can't ever go back to the way they were, and they can't go back to being the cute, naive Phos that we saw at the beginning. It's also sad because they've gone through so much mental torment, losing Antarcticite, being called useless, losing several body parts and memories, having their face smashed in, etc. These lyrics made me a bit emotional, because we see the suffering of Phos, how it destroys their mental state, and how they've changed, both physically and mentally.
