The man responsible for making me a Chargers fan. So really he's responsible for a lot of pain in my life 😭
😂😂😂
It was crazy to see Brees on the bench in this clip!
😂😂😂
LT will be on his way towards becoming one of the great running backs in NFL history
I will always love back when football was played in dual use stadiums and you had a baseball diamond on the football field 😅
That’s what LaDainian Tomlinson Day is all about, as it is still remembered as a glorious NFL moment from September 9th, 2001!
Facts, 🐐 RB OF ALL TIME
LT was everything that was great about the 2000s Zach.
We don't mention 2 days later
@@JGMGamer07 Yep, the day that became so serious that tons of dark memes spawned and have spread over the last 2 and a half decades or so unfortunately.
@@LiamDeegelol thats such a weird way to describe 9/11 😂
LT is the headliner, but Junior Seau was making all kinds of plays
2001
Kenny Albert on the call. When this game ends, he sends the audience to STL-PHI being called by Pat Summeral & John Madden. Rams came back from down 2TDs to win 20-17 in OT. The two teams would play in the NFC Championship
2024
Kenny Albert is still with Fox. He’s one of the few remaining that was with Fox on Day 1 of their NFL coverage in 1994. He is the lead NHL broadcaster for TNT & just wrapped up calling TOR’s Game 6 win over BOS. May 2 is significant because on that day in 1967 the Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup. It is their most recent title
I'm a montreal canadiens fan I love when Kenny calls games he is better than the montreal announcers!
Love Kenny Albert. True professional. Underrated in my opinion. Kinda like Ian Eagle. Just consistently been solid for years.
@@TheBlackMambaa248 Ian Eagle, like the Alberts (Marv & Kenny) just joined the father-son announcing duo with his son getting broadcast assignments
Ya time flies
Jeff George vs. Doug Flutie.
What a match-up.
Matchup between one of the most gifted players ever with a tendency to run himself out of town vs. one of the most successful CFL and College Football players ever who only really was given a chance in the NFL at the age of 36. Quite a storyline to behold.
Flutie got the job done in buffalo
Funny stat: In 2000 when Flutie played, the Bills were 4-1, but when Johnson played they were 4-7. And Flutie's last ever game for Buffalo was a perfect passer game, so it really shows how good he could do and still not get what he deserved.
If only Ralph Wilson just listened to logic and not the check he payed to Johnson to be a backup...
If you watched the game they both played terrible and LT the same
RIP Junior Seau
I wish I still had it…but I had a powder blue Chargers hat that was supposed to have been signed by him. I was at a Yellow Ribbon event in San Diego; I went with a few of my guys to Seau’s, a restaurant/bar and grill. He was supposed to have been upstairs watching a boxing match that was on. The waitress came back down with the hat signed. I say “supposed” because I didnt see him sign it…but they had no reason to lie.
LT always been a dawg at the Rb position was born to tote that rock
So many carrys lmao Jeff George with Washington
My glorious LT damn I love my chargers
He’s the GOAT of all Chargers in my opinion
@@LiamDeege facts
@LiamDeege
Definitely your opinion.
The greatest Charger is Dan Fouts or Kellen Winslow.
@@EnterpriseNCC-1701 And your opinion I can respect as well, but personally I can’t take anyone over LaDainian Tomlinson
@@EnterpriseNCC-1701All 3 were Chargers greats! Fouts was my favorite Quarterback when I was kid, and Winslow was the best TE. LT was the greatest Chargers RB and they’ve had some great ones. Chuck Muncie, Paul Lowe and Keith Lincoln. They’ve had phenomenal receivers from their 1963 AFL Championship team and then in the 70’s and 80’s. I also liked the receivers during the Schottenheimer, Norv Turner years. So many great players in there history between offense and defense it’s hard to pick just one. It’s easier to go by positions.
I really miss the San Diego Chargers so much, they have a great Memories. I've wished they gonna bring the San Diego Chargers back.
Fr, now its LA, like we have no fans fr. Our home games are actually away games 😢. Like why Spanos
@@kevinuchiha6830 Well, I've heard they had a New Stadium in San Diego.
The Chargers leaving San Diego was a big mistake.
@@LiamDeege I know, but they should Return in San Diego.
That would be crazy if they did, chances of that are almost none at this point considering they play at one of the best stadiums in the league now
it’s crazy this was a few days before 9/11
Two
2 days. This was played on Sunday September 9.
I was thinking the same thing
Everything was was crazy be4 9/11 looking back …a lot of amazing thing happened that got lost becuz of 9/11
6:24 RIP Junior Seau
San Diego Charger football was so electric even just watching from home! It just had a different vibe and feel to it. Waking up on a sunday morning just hyped to see the game. Since they left it just isnt the same, cant even watch a full game anymore. I miss the old days... Go Padres !
Here is what I took away from that season it was schottenheimers first and only season what was funny about it to me was he started out 0-5 then ended the season 8-3. If memory serves there was another fellow who started out the same way I believe his name was Gibbs something like that but schottenheimer was not given the opportunity he was fired to make room for that jackass Steve Spurrier one of the many many mistakes I feel made by their former owner
“The culture…”
Redskins could’ve had a secondary of Champ Bailey, Ryan Clark & Sean Taylor.
Redskins legend Jeff George making a rare appearance
If memory serves me correctly, he was cut the next day
The following week ...after gb loss
He was never a legend. Legendary talent but not the right mindset and Work ethic and leadership skills to put it all together.
@@careful7951 George was a legend
Potential but a team cancer
That’s why he is remembered
More context, the Charger fans were so thrilled cause they SUFFERED through a 1-15 2000 season
Not just any 1-15 season, but one where they won the TANK BOWL!
Free of the Ryan Leaf Error. Raiders fans felt similar in 2010.
LT had an impressive debut and an incredible career
Flutie blocking Bruce Smith is absolutely wild.
5:49 for a minute I thought that was Sean Taylor. RIP to the 🐐
I thought it was Deion Sanders
He was on the [NAME REDACTED]s in 2000 but sat out the season in 2001. He was moved to the retired list in 2002.
He came back to play two seasons with the Ravens in 2004 & 2005 wearing #37
@@mjwatts1983 yup
My favorite player ever & the best RB ever in my opinion cause he was the most complete back ever, could run, could score better than anyone, could catch passes, & block & throw passes. He's also my honorary goat to Tom Brady being the goat so shout out Brady as well as LT
Walter Payton is the most complete but I'm not mad at your choice
@@elbowgang9715 except he didn’t score nearly as much as LT & he fumbled like crazy & wasn’t as good of a pass catcher as LT
At least they don't mute when the announcers say REDSKINS!
Ok calm down
Yeah thank goodness
They’ll always be the Foreskins to me.
@@jaytaylor629Who complained? YOU complained. The name was used for over 75 years - where were the complaints then? How come no one is complaining about The Chiefs name and logo? The only reason they made them change it was because they were importing all of these Mexicans to the rest of the US and they did not want to offend them, even though it has nothing to do with them. They don't like football anyway.
@@jaytaylor629 You leftists are as sensitive as a gspot
One of the all time greats. Played with heart and passion. Has a deep respect for the game and the players who came before him as players coming up should respect him.
Remarkable that a team that started 0-5 and got outscored 144-32 managed to go 8-8. It was one of Marty Schottenheimer’s great coaching jobs…and of course, that moron Dan Snyder fired him. Only for Marty…to end up in San Diego. Irony.
The legends in this game made me smile ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️💪🙏🙏🙏❤️
2 days later.....
Just think our lives would change for the first time just days later
If you’re referring to 9/11, that was 2 days later
@@Eli-ss9gj yes and then the NFL just like all sports cancele the next week
Classic a real throwback!
Ironically this was a preview of those good Chargers teams that were to come. Also ironic this game featured marty shottenheimer on the opposing sideline w/Washington.
[NAME REDACTED] 2001 season
Off-season: Hire Marty Schottenheimer. Throw money at everything that moves, a staple of the Dan Snyder error
Draft
1st Round Pick: Rod Gardner
Notable picks: Fred Smoot (Rd 2), Sage Rosenfels (Rd 4)
Deion Sanders doesn’t want to play anymore. He is officially on the retired list in late 2002
Start 0-5 including losing a MNF Tank Bowl at DAL. File under “Greatest Game”
Jeff George cut because - what a shocker - he is a team cancer
Win next 5 to get back in contention
Lose 3/4
Win final 2, finish 8-8
Dan Snyder: I’m not a fan of Marty Ball. (heads down to Florida with a dump truck of money & parks it in front of Steve Spurrier’s house)
Because hiring college coaches leads to success in the NFL
Don’t feel too bad for Marty. The following season he is on the sidelines for the Chargers
Hopefully this is what our games will look like this year
1991 NFC championship game Lions vs Washington.
Just say Redskins. That's who they were.
So much of this era of football I miss. Chargers in San Diego. Dirt baseball infields. Redskins.
One of the GOATS of all running backs, sucks he couldn’t win a championship because of how cursed the Chargers are.
4:57 HOLY SH**! What a play!!!
2001. Kenny Albert is still calling NFL games
Nobody in Washington wanted Jeff George except the owner.
48 hours after this...a tragic event that would change everything
4:08 first NFL TD!
And then two days later...
Two days before our world changed forever
Crazy to not see Drew Brees under center
Ah Jeff Goerge...the first of many Dan Snyder's gaffs at quarterback.
Ya they were the 2011 eagles that off-season like a dream team of old dudes lol
Pro teams need to go back to that I Formation run the football with a Fullback leading the way. Also, a lot of snaps under center. A big contrast to today's game.
And finally, great seeing Tomlinson play again. Good times.
Potential future Throwback game ideas:
1994 Dolphins/Vikings Week 3 (Moon vs Marino)
Jets/Patriots 2010 AFC Divisional Playoffs
Colts/Steelers 1995 AFC Championship Game
I would want to see the Jets Pats 2010 playoffs because I hate New England so much lol
Please, if possible put these games in 60fps. I like to try and watch them like I was watching live at the time.
A lot of throw back players in this game.
Weird seeing Brees backing up Flutie.
Junior Seau was one baddddd dude. This game was every coaches nightmare with all those TO’s on both sides. It was obvious Tomlinson was gonna be a good one since he was a Horn Frog.
So many carrys lt had that rookie year from TCU
Your TH-cam Channel Is Awesome NFL Throwback
How was that a late hit by 37, when the player is still on the field of play, 3rd Quarter, 5:30 on the clock?
I took my pops out for that game. Sadly they left and me and dad don’t have that same father/son tradition like we used to.
Surprised the name Redskins was left in lol
So Marty Schottenheimer was the coach of the redskins
Norv turn was his OC?
Wow i never new that
Jimmy Raye was the OC
Funny seeing Flutty starting over Brees😂😂😂😂
Wow. Just 48 hours later, it would be Ludacris' birthday.
Please nfl films and this channel please make an entire highlight vid for JR SEAU there's not enough of footage on a regular TH-cam search R.I.P. Buddy
Tim Dwight Iowa Hawkeye legend!!
God there was nothing like the Q miss that place
Tim Dwight was my dude
I was at this game ; Flutie magic baby!
Back in the prime of my youth lol
Its crazy how far the NFL has come.
That’s why he’s the goat the goattttttt⚡️⚡️⚡️
GOAT!
Where is the HD?
My Favorite Video 📸 NFL Throwback
These guys were playing on arcade mode on madden
This was interesting.................
LT is Lawrence Taylor
Bolt up best half back ever
RIP Joe Bugal
*Bugel
@@trevorhembrough1290lmao Bugel. You corrected him and still got it wrong.
There is only one "LT". And he played for the NY Giants.
Two QB’s that would not start today.😂😂😂
Two days before 9/11.
Week 1 football is always so sloppy is hilarious
Junior was a monster, this game got a lot of turnovers
Only true football fans here.
For real Marty era in DC
Why were there so many fumbles? Lol
How was that a late hit? No wonder I like hockey more!
Redskins had one of the worst offenses I've ever seen the first half of that year. Just horrifically bad.
They were on pace for 102 points in a 16 game season through five games.
Oh you used the redskins name again I’m COMPLETELY offended now 🤣
Dude I miss the Washington redskins 😣
1946 was a year after WWII ended
Jeff George was no legend, but this was the worst he had ever played.
It’s complete BS that the Chargers couldn’t stay in SD.
Also not really that good of a game by Tomlinson. Not a very good job posting this by the NFL
37 hours before 9/11
What an atrocious football game lol
🐷🔴⚪🏉⚪🔵⚡
That’s supposed to be an NFL team? The Redskins are so bad all the time even to this day. What an awful franchise
Lol bruh this game was so low grade football bruh the amount of errors by both teams was crazy lol
I think the highlight is floutie blocking Bruce smith?? Is that right? 😂
🐷🔴⚪🏉⚪🔵⚡
DarrellGreen, Seau, Arrington out there wow
