- Located on 20th and Ludlow - Octopus Food Truck is the unofficial name of a food truck in Philadelphia where "you get what you get."
There are no signs, no prices, and no menu. You hand the cook $10, and he gives you a box of food.
With a business model like such, the food must be good....right?
Facts:
1. Octopus falafel is the social name of the vendor.
2. He's there from 12pm to 2pm (or until he runs out.
3. He does cook his own menu
4. He is dedicated to his food and would like to not be disturbed while preparing for his customer.
5. He changes his decor according to the seasons or to his liking.
6. He is on Yelp.
7. He's been in center city for 20+ years
8. He buys the most expensive and finest seasonal ingredients available.
9. He focus on healthy ingredients.
10. If you are there for the first time and have questions, just ask the people in line.
11. Bring your appetite because the servings are huge.
Appreciate the intel ! I think the most surprising part is he has been there for 20 years !
Where is he located
@@haileyfileds4394 he is around 20th and Ludlow
@@haileyfileds4394 He is located at 20th & Ludlow Street between Market and Chestnut
ExAct location plz
He may be open for only 2 hours, but he works for much longer than 2 hours. He cleans his truck for 5 hours, he shops for groceries and preps every day. That means he easily works 10 hours or more a day.
How do you know
@@DUKE390 he’s done interviews
Sharup
@@DUKE390thats how it works… you clearly havny worked a job before
Imagine if Anthony Bourdain was still with us and visited that man to do a deep-dive interview on camera. That would've been tremendously special.
So he gives you a good rice (carbs), meats, veggies, also a fruit. This seems to be the principles of how the healthy food should be, just like in my country, then creates and innovates it every single time with his fresh choices of ingredients he bought before opens the shop. And I agree, he seems to do this as a tribute to someone he dears the most in his life with all the flowers decoration, something like carry on the passion of that person's sake, and one of them could be about a simple, and healthy food that brings happiness
yes I feel that to
Is not because something sad happened. Its because life is sad and out of our control. But food for Greeks is a love and a passion meant to be spread. Μπράβο Κωνσταντίνε!
He is a blessing. Would be great if someone like him did this in Florida.
The Seinfeld soup guy diversified & went on the road
Fucking guy is an artist, try walking by and not throwing $10 at him, your nose won't allow it......absolute heaven.
Yesssssssss the octopus falafel food truck needs more love and notoriety. So good
I went down a rabbit hole with this guy somebody needs to do a documentary on him
It's perfect. A guy who give you a nice clean healthy meal, just thumbs up👍😃👌
8:36 like for real this guys deserve a netflix movie. It looks like he has a great background story to share
I think he's a guy who don't wanna talk about his private life.
I want a full documentary about this place. This is so cool.
Right?! I really wanna know the guys story.
What place🤷♂️😳
This is the type of doc I want on Netflix
There is another video
JL Jupiter a vloger on youtube has a full video of him cooking the food and talking about how he does it at this spot! I can't wait to experience this truck.
I love that the chef cooks whatever he wants. If I can do that at my work. I feel like programming this random software today. You don't like it dont come back :)
The unique review you and 100 other TH-cam’s have done on this guys stand
Philly is totally one of the best food cities on the East Coast
I might start selling forks on the right 😂
I'm so intrigued , might pass by there on my way to Florida
JL viewed this place, still 10 dollars for a platter like that is good. I don't know about his financial but 2hrs is crazy a crazy work schedule
It's a lot more than 2 hours. He has to purchase the ingredients and prep them. Then he has to spend (according to him) 5 hours cleaning his cart each day. It's now $15 but that is expected. Before Joe Biden my local authentic taco stand was $2 a taco, $4 for quesadilla/medium burritos. Everything jumped little by little. Now $2.75 a taco. $7 quesadilla and $6 medium burritos. Medium burritos are enormous and they make an $8 large and a $12 extra large. They have sope and other things as well.
How the hell I never seen this? I’m gonna visit this mystery food truck man soon and interview him. And eat.
You will love it ! Yup you will love it !
Right long as I been here too lol
I doubt you’ll get to interview him, if he’s that rude.
Great content; you were detail and Articulate. Do more food reviews. Thanks
I shall! Thanks for the support 🙏🏼🙌🏻
This guy is Awesine! Mad respect for this guy cooking out of this foodtruck!
Like I'm from Canada, and I really want to visit!
I heard he was a hit man that had a passion for artistically created foods ,👍
Movie rights?
@@C1ark33 yo I have so many movie ideas in my brain
Octopus is quite the apt name cos the composition of the platter changes by the minute based on the available ingredients.
Damn, I wish I lived in Philadelphia Philly because I would be definitely eating this food from the food truck hand him $10 and bon appétit that looks so delicious bro my mouth is watering falafel all the food you have. I am so freaking jealous right now my mouth is watering right now I am starving. I am so damn jealous bro.
My man
Opens
Keeps cooking
Doesn't talk
Simply takes a 10 dollar bill
Hands a random freshly prepared mystery meal
Closes
Damn!!
I saw another video where they interviewed the man. Very interesting individual.
Bro you look like one of my childhood friend i lost in a car accident. Great video and take care.
The man IS a genius.
So essentially, he makes falafels, and then randomizes everything else that comes with it.
that just looks great, I would come there everyday.
Won't be dry. You know fried rice. Not dry. He add sauce and the chicken are moist. Every ingredient is moist. That is what happen when the ingredients are fresh and not over cocked.
That's, the proof, Seinfeld is a visionary
the fact that u shouldn't say anything or ask for two is kind off odd to me but 🤷♀️I'm still finna try it
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
What part of Philly
I am your 190 subscriber
Thank you 190th subscriber !
Congrat
Also he does have a thing on yelp lol
Is he even making profit?
Good review ya camera is nice
Thanks! It's actually just my cell phone ha
@@MrTySull haha smart man …
I'm pretty sure if you use the word cook around him he will correct you.
The sign feld no sign try jerry's deli
Keep on vlogging my friend😊🇵🇭
What is the sauce he uses, please someone I got to know!
He change his sauces along with the sides to his daily dish. 😑
keep working on your videos man, love the content but the delivery was kind of rough, not gonna lie. sort of hard to watch at times but keep going
Could you describe the gravy he puts on top of the meal?
It's like a light, fruit like juice. Pretty sure it's oil but it has no oil taste to it. Simply delicious
@@MrTySull thanks, i'm trying to recreate it 10k kms away. i thought is something like vinaigrette emulsion, i made it from 2 tsp mustard, 1 tsp honey, a drizzle of olive oil and a drizzle of balsamic vinnegar. if you ever go back, can you ask him? tell him a fat guy from Romania who will never reach the Usa want to try his food :))
He blends different quality ingredients until the flavor of the sauce is to his liking. He has a great palate when it comes to flavor(s) 😋
Did you give the man a tip?
He doesn't accept tips. If you try to he will refuse and berate you lmao
That's what I assumed probably takes it outta disrespect it's strictly passion for him that's why the food so good 👍
You never gave an update on your girls food!
Are you gonna show us the truck or are we just gonna watch u eat?
And I want it the Ocky way.
I think I get why it's called the octopus food truck ,an old girlfriend called me an octopus, said I had eight arms.😋😆🤣 It's an avocado ,bubble nuts. It looks good worth the money. If he's here two hours he is happy making the extra money ,he is probly retired with a pension so he's alright making 100, to 300 dollars a day ,he has some expenses buying food , like I said not making money.
He's making money. He has extremely low overhead. He doesn't even provide you with a plastic fork.
Where is the cart
20th and Ludlow I’m Center City Philadelphia
Probably called an octopus food truck is because doesn’t the octopus eat every thing? Lol
Not pricey it’s very much like restaurant food that’s cheap
I know he uses whatever he has.
You said 10 is pricey for all tht food? Hell na! That's cheap
I said it might *seem* pricey - it's essentially two meals cause it's so much food. Great deal!
I'm sorry, but waiting 40 minutes to get a huge plate of insanely delicious fresh food for a cheap price might not be worth it? Even at his $15 price today I'd wait an hour at least for that level of quality and portions, lol. Two meals for the price of one? C'mon dude.
I always laugh when people do food reviews and they don’t carry utensils in their glove box 🤦🏼♂️
Ha yeah. This was not planned and was also my first food review in the car. I would never call myself a food reviewer - this was impromptu!
No asparagus on yours, everything else looks amazing. You need to invest in a metal spork. The plastics got to. Go away
Let him cook
5 min per customer so only 24 customers per day?? That can't be right
I don’t understand how he can be so rude, by ranting to people that are from out of town. How would they know that he doesn’t like to talk, or that you can’t order more than one?
12 am to 2pm
32.
JL JUPITER ALREADY DID A GREAT REVIEW. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Yup ! That's who inspired me to do mine :)
Yeah I would want 3 orders. The customer is always right!
Nope get to the back of the line you get one platter only
no name, no menu, etc..... probably because the prices are set by word of mouth and he knows who the enforcement officials are and he has no permit to operate?
Be careful You never know whats in that food lol You are taking chances!
@MurderServedRaw Huh.
Well its okey 2 b precautious.hellow...u can see all d people inline.try ask people who keeps coming back buying.
@@farahrivera2731 huh.
Why would you say such a stupid thing
I watched a documentary. They showed diff cities w food trucks. They don't have running water/bathroom. They run out, go, come back and handle food. No washing hands. No thanks.
Not all of them, they actually r required to have hand washing stations. But this truck/cart is different. He is clean!
Boooooo
He has a functional sink on his truck...he is a stickler when it comes to his food protocol.
Dang bro. Should have stood and waited with your girl. ? Your just like "she'll be waiting for 20 min"..
You'll be single soon I'll bet
We were parked illegally, so we had to take turns waiting in the car to prevent getting towed. This is typical in any city.
But that's aside from the point. I'm not dating the dependent, childish girl you describe as getting upset over someone not waiting in line with them. I am both lucky and fortunate to be dating a strong independent woman 🙂
@@MrTySull Don’t feed into trolls
What kind of thinking is that?
Ah hah..you sound like a HATER..
Pricier lol fast food cost 15 dollars and every cart 10 and up where are you going lol??? No really
For a food truck in Philly, it's on the slightly pricey side. You can get lunch here at a truck for 5 bucks.
But that 10 bucks is well worth it.
You should have video the guy himself instead of you keep talking.
He asked not to be recorded.
No thanks
Second video I have watched on him what a cool dude and thanks random dude👍🚐 🥙
