Good video. I am doing my Kuga tomorrow. Same set up as a few of my other cars. Note to all. It's a good idea to only use 6 sided sockets as they grip on all six faces. The 19mm socket used in this video is the multi-position type and are rubbish in comparison as they only grip on the corners of the nut and can strip easy. I have thrown all my multi-position sockets away and replaced with 6 sided ones as I made the same mistake as the guy in the video years ago on a Fiesta Mk6.
Mate, do brake disks and brake pads from a C-max II fit on the Kuga II ? I have ordered supposedly a kit for a Kuga II but after giving the order and the package was already sent they asked me for chassis number, year of manufacture and other info and so on, aaand it seems that they would't fit....but as a second opinion can they? I have a 2013 tdci 163 hp 4x4 model.Thx in advance !
I suspect they wouldn't. I have a focus as well, but the discs and pads do differ slightly to the kuga. Unless the part numbers match for the kuga and cmax fitments I match, I would not fit the kuga parts on a cmax.
For folks thst are new to this, Absolutely use axle stands - hydraulic Jacks can fail with zero warning. Should really lower the car so the weight is onnthe stands, and use the jack as the 'back up' (not the jack as primary and stands as a back up - you need the weight on the stands so they don't tip of slip when the jack fails ! Oh and sling the wheel under the car too as another life saver
I would put some grease on it. (But there are some pins, that schouldt be greased. Depends on manufacturer) The grease for the pin is really specific. U can take TRW PFG 110 or FEBI . The copper paste will kill the pin or your brakepads will stuck. For the brakepadsmounting I take the ATE plastilube.
Most car shops should sell them, so if you UK based the Halfords, euro car parts or even screwfix, which seem to be the cheapest www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiq882ik-vfAhWEtO0KHZfnAIIYABATGgJkZw&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESEeD2ZA3eU7m9oKSSa364vBfg&sig=AOD64_1fHfjNXb7de78BZjR4Ra-ZChKLEw&ctype=46&q=&ved=2ahUKEwivzsaik-vfAhX9QxUIHcSPDaAQzzl6BAgOEBY&adurl=
keep on doing Videos. Order Ford Kuga DRL'S and install them ! install ford kuga coilovers. do a channel on your kuga. so other people know how to do it. Not many vids on kuga out there man .
Yeah the old pads definitely could have lasted longer. Looked worse when I was trying to inspect the wear than when I got them off. But i had new pads by then so fitted them
when you replaced the spring at the end of your video you positioned it in the wrong place top and bottom it should be behind the caliper not in front as you have left it
CarlGB I have just done mine and tried to compress for ages then found out they must be wound. A good investment as it takes 2-3 minutes to set up and wind them
Superb video for someone who hasn't done the pads before. Smashing, many thanks.

Agreed. Hexagonal sockets are better to use if you have them.
@@keepitpinned_yt i use mine for stipped bolt heads hammer on a slightly smaller size all is good
Any need to loosen the top of the brake fluid reservoir to allow the piston to move? Thanks for the video though
you could probably do it without loosening the reservoir cap. i've just found it easier in the past, when working on bikes.
Hello mate. I bought the laser caliper tool from halfords. The pins dont for the holes on the caliper piston. Any idea what size I need?
Sorry I don't have any measurements. The plate with the pins is usually reversible for a wide pin width one side and narrow pin width the other side
Is the hand brake good after replacing pads
What is the torque setting needed for the bolts ?

Why don't the manufacturer put copper grease on brake parts at factory assembly ?
Because it is not needed
Guide pin should be greased?

Was that a electronic hand brake
No just a manual handbrake
Hi Thanks for the how to vid.... do you have a link for the wind back tool

I hope you didn’t leave your rear caliper spring like that at the end of the video. The spring goes under the caliper mount not on top.
No I didn't, I put it back where it should be :-)
Too busy faffing with my camera and trying to do it one handed, but I did realise my error.
I actually added q comment to the vid at 25.12.
Ideally I should of reshot that part of the video.
Good video 👍🏻

Old pads easly enough for next 10 k miles. And than replace with discs if You worry about corrosjon

One hand brake replacement tutorial but good job

Plenty of life left on those pads, at least another 5k miles
Dude seriously, next time get a camera man so you can do a quicker job.

Do you know if I could use a G-clamp and the old pad to push the piston back or is it restricted to "winding" it back?
CarlGB I have just done mine and tried to compress for ages then found out they must be wound. A good investment as it takes 2-3 minutes to set up and wind them
