Wayne rogers figured which Siminoff rules had to be broken to solve the problem of these short scales. The Little gem won best in show during the 2018 NAM show. It is loud and has a true banjo sound. Also it has a really effective two way truss rod.

Jasper I am a big fan of your work and the quality of your banjo ukes do you ever sell them privately? Because everytime I try to win one on e bay I always get outbid and I would love to own one of the ukes you have lovingly restored

I don't know how much of your story is true but Banjo ukulele was invented by John A Bolander. the patent date is Dec. 5th, 1916. The Keech brothers' brand name was Banjulele and were responsible for taking it across the pond to Britain. Perhaps it was the movies who brought the Keech's into it but they didn't invent the instrument.

Thanks for all this helpful info. I inherited my dad's baritone uke and I understand that I play that just like the 4 high strings of the 6 string guitar. Is that correct? Is there such thing as a baritone banjolele? Do you play that the same as the baritone uke? I would like to get one, but not learn all new chords. Thanks.

I did exactly what you said I shouldn't do and bought a Tenor Banjo at a sale thinking it was a long necked ukulele. Now I have no interest whatsoever learning new cords and tunings. Do you think it could be adapted for standard Ukulele tuning? Someone mentioned rearranging and using the top 4 strings of a classical guitar would work once the nut and bridge were dressed properly. My son says just sell it but I'm intrigued. What do you think?

Thanks for the email. I occasionally sell privately but to be honest i find putting them up for auction the fairest way . If you have an idea of what you would like to pay and what kind you are after i might be able to help. My email is jasperhappy@hotmail.com. cheers. jasper
