Turtles go nuts over chicken (we used to use gizzards when trot-lining for catfish, and regularly caught turtles).
Down here, chicken leg-quarters are about 7 bucks for a 10 lb. bag…might be worth a try.

Those small hooks are illegal in most states! A 3 Oct hook is recommended for preventing swallowing and probably death , as some comments right on mark. You can injure turtle by lifting by tail. Sad info!
