I think Shannon genuinely didn’t understand that the Lions were playing for the 1 seed either way next week and that’s why Foxworth jumped in to bail him out with the “practiced all week” reason 😂 Unc wasn’t saying nothing about that before
Anzalone should be back in the playoffs, and DMo could possibly return. And if they make the Superbowl Hutch could be back, rather he's as effective as he was early in the season is a different story. Maybe just the potential threat of Hutch drawing attention will help free up the other guys.

We’ve seen teams with really good offenses and bad defenses is. It’s really tough if they play someone who can slow down the offense, which few teams can
If the lions get the #1 seed they will have a tougher path lol they will more than likely play the vikings in the divisional round, eagles in nfc championship and the chiefs, bills or ravens in the super bowl and I don’t think their defense is good enough to overcome all those teams
...it would be the same path if they get the 5 seed, though? Just with an added Wild Card game against either the Falcons, Rams, or Bucs. And all of those games on the road.
One huge things i think the lions did by playing starters is to get the guys reps into the system. It also gives them film to help coach through holes or problems. I really hope these back up players understand the opportunity they have and push harder then ever against the Vikings. The only way to be valuable is to be noticed, you think Vikings still want to play JJ?
The biggest advantage for Detroit getting #1 is the BYE. Not because they get that much healthier, like Shannon says but, like Troy and Joe pointed out in MNF - they need a break. Remember, this team got their BYE in Week 5, its Week 18. That is a lot of football, a lot of wear and tear. Aside from that, it doesnt matter where the Lions play - they just went 8-0 on the road. The only players due back for the Lions are: Anzalone (LB), Raymond (WR), Rakestraw (CB), Davis (CB) and Hutch (DE) depending on how far they get. But the narrative the Lions should be nervous, no. If anything, the Rams or Bucs should be nervous cause one of them is getting a 14-win team in round 1.
The Lions got a chance to see a few of the newer faces play on the field and get some needed reps to learn the defense. Even with getting players back it is always helpful to get the rust off.
The Lions need it because our bye week was week 5. A month and a week into the season... And we have to play 13 games in a row... And Secondly their are players that will be back... According to the coach... Im honestly tired of hearing about how banged up our defense is and they continue to make plays every week...
Iions need it more, they have a league high 14 games played in a dome this season. Their home field is a dome which makes it consistent in the playoffs, adding the factor of them having to go outside in the elements gives more variability for the offense that a dome wouldnt provide.
Your take makes no sense. If they have to play on the road in the elments, then so does the team that they are playing. They have the best offensive line in the league, one of the best running backs and the best offense as a whole. They are also the only undefeated team on the road. You can refer to the Greenbay game in the rain and wind storm, where Detroit absolutely dominated and Greenbay looked like the dome team.
What is she talking about, this game did matter. There's no way she's that confident in the Lions backups when they're depleted on defense and just barely beat the 6 win 49ers.. And the Vikings just barely got past the Packers. Now they're both playing fir the #1 seed
The Lions have been breaking so many NFL records this year, this is a historic offense, the Lions can handle it whatever way it comes, we can go 12-0 on the road, I am sure that would be another NFL record and one that may never be broken if achieved. However, I fully expect the Lions to win this Sunday. While the Vikings have some nice pieces the Lions still have the better roster, QB, and coaches, not to mention the home field crowd behind them. Only suckers with a hot take would pick the Vikings to win over the Lions this weekend. Additionally, the Lions are money in prime time. They almost never lose on the big stage, under the bright lights. ROOOOOOOAAAAAAAAR! edit: The issues with GB are twofold. 1) They are young and tend to make mistakes that cost them the game. 2) LaFleur is a great OC, but only a decent, not great HC. The Lions live rent free in his head, I cannot believe that he lost his cool on a fan that was heckling him. Todd Boles and the Bucs just laughed at that fan, LaFleur lost his mind. That lack of discipline and emotional control is the same lack of discipline and emotional control that his team plays with. He really reminds me a lot of Jim Schwartz when he coached the Lions.
Say what you want about Detroit’s defense but when our offense can score on every drive, Kerby is getting interceptions and now we got Branch getting sacks there’s not ish you can say about the Lions.
I like Shannon's take except I think he is overlooking how important that 1 seed could be if a first round upset happens. So Hypothetically say 1 Lions bye 2 Eagles lose to 7 Packers 3 Rams beat 6 Commanders 4 Bucs lose to 5 Vikings That means it would be 1 Lions vs 7 Packers 3 Rams vs 5 Vikings If that were the case the Lions could be playing 2 games against teams that they could have a combined 5-0 record against. No Eagles, no Bucs..don't have to play at Minnesota... that would be huge vs... Potentially having to play the Bucs on the road and then possibly Vikings on the road.. and then possibly the Eagles on the road in lousy weather... yeah that one seed is extremely important. Side note they won two Home playoff games last year and the only loss was on the road...so if you have to play a 3rd game against the Vikings wouldn't you rather it be at home, if they play Philly especially outside Philly will try to run it a ton and control the clock. I'm a Lions fan through and through, but I don't like asking Goff to throw for 300 yards or have a near perfect game in January in Philly weather.
Lions have most injuries of any team, how could Lions not be most needing of the bye? Lions had week 5 bye. It’s always excuses for other teams and lack credit to Lions for making it work with half the starters from beginning of the year. Lions have to put up the points to offset defense, which is doing their best with next man up.
Lions are 8-0 on the road. Scoring teams are hard to beat. Minnesota has protected Donald, but playoffs style change. Will he be more prone to force passes to Justin Jefferson?
Detroit picked off purdy twice, the 49ers missed two field goals, and the final margin of victory was 6 points. Lions aren’t looking unbeatable anymore
Vikings are a good team don’t get me wrong but let’s be real they had a sub .400 sov and beat a lot of struggling teams. The biggest weakness is Sam Darnold. He is playing well but anyone that has followed SD career knows he can lay a goose egg any given week and doesn’t play well on the road. Either way it’s going to be a great game.
Idk, I think hoping for Sam Darnold to play bad is not an effective strategy. He has historically been bad, but so have the lions. Their fans should know the right coaching and pieces can absolutely change the narrative. Sam is in year one of beginning to change that narrative. He’s had a few shaky games but he’s continued to get better and better. As far as SOV, the NFC north teams have played the same schedule minus 3 teams. Winning the north last year is going to give them a slightly tougher schedule. I would argue a good portion of the lions SOV is propped up by their victory over the Vikings earlier this year. Teams are both very good and it will likely come down to whether or not the Vikings can slow down the high powered lions offense. I expect it to be a very tough match up for both teams given that other NFC playoff competition will be resting this week vs going all out
No Dominique and Shannon, Minnesota win or lose against Packers didn't affect Lion's 49ners game relevance. Com'on "experts". Lions could have lost to 49ners and still be playing for the division win.
Rebuild loses its meaning in instances like this. Its the nfl, the vikings roster could be better next season than it is now yet they may not win nearly as many games
People need to stop saying that game didn't matter it did matter cause if we lost Vikings up a game rather go in the last week with the same record than a game back
@ my point is by beating the niners the lions made sure that if it does happened they would be the number 1 seed. If they didn’t beat the niners the Vikings would have the tie breaker

After I saw from the 9er game I don’t trust Detroit’s defense
Unc is looking clean!!
I like Shannon's take except I think he is overlooking how important that 1 seed could be if a first round upset happens.
So Hypothetically say
1 Lions bye
2 Eagles lose to 7 Packers
3 Rams beat 6 Commanders
4 Bucs lose to 5 Vikings
That means it would be
1 Lions vs 7 Packers
3 Rams vs 5 Vikings
If that were the case the Lions could be playing 2 games against teams that they could have a combined 5-0 record against.
Lions need the No.1 seed. Thats at least another week healthier their defense could get.
They wouldn't be many people back but the week of rest would help everyone heal up from the wear and tear of the season.
Game mattered! No one puts into consideration on a possibility of a tie game.
This was good.
Dan Campbell is a happy man
We’re forgetting that the kicker lost the 49ers that game 2 missed fgs and an extra point
Lions are 8-0 on the road. Scoring teams are hard to beat.
Minnesota has protected Donald, but playoffs style change.
Will he be more prone to force passes to Justin Jefferson?
They literally announced anzalone could be ready by next week.
Detroit picked off purdy twice, the 49ers missed two field goals, and the final margin of victory was 6 points. Lions aren’t looking unbeatable anymore
No Team is unbeatable
I expect it to be a very tough match up for both teams given that other NFC playoff competition will be resting this week vs going all out
Unfortunately if Purdy wasn't a choke artist the Vikings would be on top right now
The backup were the starters! Lol😂
No Dominique and Shannon, Minnesota win or lose against Packers didn't affect Lion's 49ners game relevance. Com'on "experts". Lions could have lost to 49ners and still be playing for the division win.
Lions have 3 players protected to return this week alone, including Anzalone now.. tf they talkin bout
I agree that vikings need the number 1 seed more. If they do, it's gonna be hard to beat them in a dome.
It’s crazy that everyone is “worried about the lions defense” NOW when we have guys coming back lol
I disagree with sharps first sentence. I believe the lions need the #1 seed more because of thier depleted defence.
Lions should have rested. Didn’t matter if they one or lost this week.
One team is 14-2 on a re build another team is 14-2 during a historic season for them
Rebuild loses its meaning in instances like this. Its the nfl, the vikings roster could be better next season than it is now yet they may not win nearly as many games
The lions need the 1 seed more so they can get that bye week. They’re a very beat up team, specifically on defense.
🦁defense rocks!
According to Dan Campbell alot of their players is coming back
Definitely don’t miss Molly. Voice is horrible, gets very rude at times, and sometimes oversteps the role of a moderator
Hb some of the dumb playing calling on offense and them pulling Jacob's in the 4th quarter
7:14 Alex Anzalone
No, the Lions need that bye week. Because of their injuries!!!
People need to stop saying that game didn't matter it did matter cause if we lost Vikings up a game rather go in the last week with the same record than a game back
I’m not tryna diss Molly but I haven’t blank starred since Shay been on
Everyone in the media still sleeping on the Vikings 😅
The game did matter. If the lions vs Vikings game ends in a tie the lions win the 1 seed. If they lost the Vikings would have got the #1 seeds
Neither team would let a tie happen
@@ahastar1141 yea because a tie has never happened in the nfl 😂
@@zonabot6029 it’s not that it’s impossible but incredibly unlikely
@ my point is by beating the niners the lions made sure that if it does happened they would be the number 1 seed. If they didn’t beat the niners the Vikings would have the tie breaker
Anyone else feel like teams are worse after bye weeks
