Another great piece Steve. I look forward to your videos and I learn a lot as you explain what you are doing and why.

You are such a talented artist. You captured the light in the scene right away, brilliantly and already began to establish a narrative by creating a mood. I am trying to learn from your examples so I really appreciate you sharing.

Hi Robert, thanks a lot. For me it's all about the light. If you get that right you can get away with slightly dodgy perspective or a badly drawn object

I remember my portrait teacher. He loved painting city and daily scenes, and always tried to tell a story with them.
    Great video and great painting!

Hi Nalu, Thanks a lot. I had one painter friend that always put sheep in his landscapes to tell a story

Wonderful video, Steve. Love the painting, as always. [As a TH-cam commenter, I feel bound to point out (someone’s going to) that there is no black queen on the board - CHECKMATE!] ;-) I only have a few art apps but I’ve never seen better, at simulating oil paint, than ArtRage - true?

Hi Greg, thanks. In my mind not all the pieces in play are visible in the painting. That's my story and I'm sticking to it
