Would love some kind of comment on Guzan being pushed from behind by Campana. Seemed pretty straightforward to a non-biased observer.

Not going to see anything from PRO on this channel since it didn't go to Video Review. It was never likely to go to review anyway - the shove wasn't even close to a send-off for Violent Conduct. I wouldn't have been surprised at a caution, but the ref intervened immediately and had everyone separated 5 seconds after the shove so he probably felt the game really didn't need a caution as much as it needed to get restarted.

These reviews are very helpful for us to learn the rules of the game. Keep up the good work. Keep them coming, please.

The VAR in the first incident needs more training... the player is being prevented from getting into a position to challenge the cross. Thats absolutely an impact on play.

Both the VAR and AVAR got themselves wrapped around the axle based on the first angle, which made the tug look inconsequential. They then succumbed to group-think as they looked to confirm that view rather than focus on evaluating whether their supposition was a clear and obvious error. I fully expect that on a second look, both would take back their recommendation - FWIW, the VAR is one of the leagues most experienced FIFA-list refs. Valuable training material for the whole staff.

I've no investment in this league but this review makes me angry ... clueless VAR, ref saw it clearly and even stated so, go with the ref ... he was absolutely correct and overthinking recommended the incorrect ruling ... good on the ref

Often feels to me like some of these people have never played the game. Have never yanked a jersey, hard enough, for a split second enough to throw a fwd off balance and delay their attacking run just enough. Did the fwd immediately go boneless and flop? Yes. Doesn't negate that it was indeed holding a jersey inside the Pen.Area.

Glad at least they admitted the review was wrong.

You can see it in Herrera's eyes. He looks at the official, spits, and looks up at him again.

Very curious that the most significant moment in the SEA v HOU series is ignored: The Carasquilla red card. VAR overturns the call we normally get in such a handbags kerfuffle, dual yellows, and calls for a red card on the responder to instigation. Would be interesting to hear that discussion. Why is it avoided?

The video and the explanation are very well covered on PRO's Definitive Angle video (The DA always covers all the events in Inside Video Review, plus those that IRV doesn't have time for). It doesn't include the audio, but the text makes it clear what was discussed. IRV often leaves out (not "avoids") clear decisions when there are more interesting ones to discuss.

Once the VAR says “There is a pull,” it seems there was not a clear and obvious error. Why bring added controversy to the game by sending it for review?

@@foley256 If you're talking about the first incident (ORL-CHA), that's exactly PRO's conclusion. Training point for the VAR team.

@ I understand and am glad PRO was forthcoming with that conclusion. It was just disappointing it was even reviewed.

@@foley256 Shows how high-stakes high-pressure situations can lead to group-think, even among very experienced people. That first angle looked like the hold was inconsequential so the discussion focused on overturning the call, and the confusion about the call on the field didn't help. It's rather human of them, and happens in every profession, but it's a bit disappointing from one of my all time favorite refs and a really experienced AR/AVAR.

Why did the first clip even go to VAR?
For the second clip, I am a Sounders fan but that is ball to hand for sure and the arm is in a natural position very close to his body. The defender even attempts to move his arm back and out of the way. I am concerned that the VAR kept talking about the ball hitting his chest when it clearly hits the defenders arm and only the arm.
For the third clip, Forget about spitting at the ref which is clearly a red card. The challenge itself is also a red card. Serious foul play, playing the man and not the ball, check, violent conduct and endangering the safety of the opponent for the violent kick to the back of ankle, check.
For the last clip, good job VAR, the players were obstructing the view although based on the movement of the ball I doubt the goalie would have made the save.

Agree on the second, I don't see chest, but it is a natural position. Header wasn't going into the goal anyways.

Disagree with you on the third clip regarding the late challenge. While I would like to see the game tightened up over time and garbage like that often get punished w/ a red, it is almost never given a straight red currently, and far too often, rarely even a yellow card.

@@t.b.flowers8903 If that is not a red, what is the point of the rules governing what is supposed to be a red card? Challenges like this check all of the boxes for a red card. They are dangerous and there is no way to win and control the ball in this challenge.

We get it. Yall dont like Charlotte. Yall always claim the bogus calls against Charlotte are correct. Im this incident, the VAR, who both have world cup experience, say it had no impact. Ref gave Orlando the win. Period.

First incident is clearly some dumb VAR trying to re-referee the game in the game he wants. The defender clearly pulls back on the jersey to prevent him from getting to it, gets tight against his body to show how far he pulled, then they say “oh it didn’t impact him”. Give me a break.

McGuire wasn't getting to that ball, with or without the shirt pull. VAR made the right call. The ref on the pitch, in the three games he's reffed for Charlotte, has issued Charlotte a whopping 13 yellow cards compared to the rest of the league. This referee has a clear bias against Charlotte. VAR made the right call.
