We took our kids to Disney World in 1997....River Country was on the agenda🏞️. We enjoyed it very much. Blizzard Beach was fairly new, we spent a day there as well🏂.
This video was next level!!! I would not have been surprised while you were on your walk that you would have seen deer or turkey's. We had visited River Country a few years before it closed and the characters were great!
I loved River Country. I went when I was 8 years old. I had a fabulous day except for falling off a ledge that you take a zip line off of. I felt hurt from falling so far but I wasn’t really injured. I also lost my inter tube on a water ride. That was scary. Thinking back on it I can’t believe we were there due to alligators. It kind of freaks me out, but I’m guessing they knew there weren’t gators in the area.
Wow! River Country! Haven't thought about it in years. We used to go every summer during the early/mid 80s. It was THE BEST. Too bad they closed it down. The theming was never duplicated.😥
Little late here … The DVC Reflections Resort was pretty much abandoned due to the unpredictability of what was to become of the World, from the pandemic. At that point in time, due to the parks being shut down, movies not being released in theaters, etc., Disney was not bringing in much revenue. Eventually, instead of abandoning the project, the DVC resort concept, was shifted to the Polynesian Resort, wiping out the much beloved Spirit Of Aloha area. If you compare the concept art of the proposed Reflections Resort, with the new Polynesian DVC tower, they are quite similar. Though it does not match the styling of the Polynesian Resort. Oh well!
When I was little we did go to River Country, and one of those times I stepped in a weird bug worm and made me had fever ; I had to go to the first aid station. They injected something to help. But it was a fun water park for its time.
I looooove this video Em, you’re editing on this truly was amazing! Felt like I was watching a Halloween episode of a great tv show. I’ve always loved your Disney sleepover videos, they’re one of my favorites that you make! This was the perfect video for Halloween 🎃 👻

Hey Emily! Happy belated Halloween to you. Sorry I’m late to watch this. I love your Sleepover videos. I get ti see how the resorts look and get a good idea which is the best. I didn’t wear a costume this year but I did wear my pumpkin t shirt yesterday. I wore it to MNSSHP this year. Jack and Sally thought I should make it look more rotten and have bugs on it. I need to work on that. Anyway, great Vlog as always and happy November to you and congrats on 60K on IG! Also, the titles in the Vlog gives me Friday The 13th vibes.
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 I hope you had a good Halloween! This year I dressed up as a scoops ahoy worker from stranger things. I want you to know how grateful I am for your videos. They never fail to lift me up when I'm feeling down. Never doubt that what you're doing is making a difference because it is. You make people so happy, Ily so much. Thank you for everything you do.🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
First off, love your Disney Halloween sweater😍 Also, loved watching this video during my lunch break at work to get into the Halloween mood🎃 I’m dressing up as Snow White tonight and my mother-in-law is going to be the Evil Queen!
Omo wasn’t expecting this! This was actually quite unique and diff! Love this for you! I hope you had fun though, those cookies looked so pretty ❤ did you have your mac and cheese? I’d probably freak out with all those sounds just saying but the walk was it just round the cabins or did disney decorate those as well :)
Love these video and seeing what all the resorts layouts are. Makes vacation planning easier and adds to the bucket list. Our Halloween Costume was on the 25th at the MNSSHP we got tshirts that said Mummy & Deady. We announced our pregnancy on our vacation @ the castle. Can’t wait for Halloween next year. Due May 21st 23 but won’t be back to the parks until 2024 ❤
Yes I have been to River Country. The brain eating ameba story is not true btw. Part of the problem is that the water came from Bay Lake. You also used to be able to swim in both Bay lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, both of which you can not do anymore. This is because of the fact that these are Linked to Natural rivers and waterways, which means snakes, gators and other native animals are now in the lakes. Please note that Bay Lake is Natural and was always there and Seven Seas Lagoon was man made. River Country was fun but was not designed properly (it was also one of the first water parks in the US). They decided to build a much larger water park, Typhon Lagoon, and then build Blizard Beach River Country closed in 2001 However Typhoon Lagoon opened in 1989 and blizzard beach opened in 1995. River Country was a much smaller water park and wasn't making the money the others were, which was a major reason it was eventually closed. Reflections, was supposed to be a DVC resort that was planned and announced and even started just before the Pandemic. Interesting that during the pandemic with almost all construction stopped, they announced the DVC towers at the Polynesian, which looks almost exactly the same as what Reflections was supposed to look like. In fact all the building materials which had already been purchased for reflections were redistributed to the New polynesian DVC towers. If you are going to be talking about spooky places, you really need to talk about Discovery Island. Which closed in 1999. It is an island just off the coast of Fort Wilderness, and was a natural reserve for all sorts of birds, animals and reptiles. Everything is still there, including the animals, the docks, the buildings etc. but nobody is allowed to go onto the island anymore. It was a really nice place to go and see nature.
