I don't think that when he's saying the devil didn't know what Jesus was doing that he's correct. The scriptures talk about Jesus being pressured in the garden before the crucifixion so much so that he sweat blood. That's demonic pressure and oppression. In Matt 16:21-23 Jesus discusses what must come with his crucifixion and Resurrection and when Peter spoke against it happening Jesus replied with a rebuke "Get thee behind me Satan". It's kind of confusing to be honest in some parts of the New testament the devil seems to know what's coming and not want it and in other parts he knows what's coming and doesn't want it to happen.
