  • This is the procedure I used taking the silencers out of my 2008 Kawasaki Nomad.
    I decided to video the procedure that I used in the event if might be of use to someone else. I welcome any comments, but please keep it polite.
    Instructions can be found on KawaNOW.org

    OK,did it. Watched this and other videos several times. Got a tapered dresses replacement leg at ACE. Unscrewed the stud and drove it into the pipe. Using a powerful 1/2" plug-in drill with two hand grip made a quick and clean cut. Whole job took

    Just did my 2008 Nomad yesterday - has about 28K miles on it - one side took a little convincing to come out after drilling, maybe 5 minutes of work - the other side came right out. Sounds good.

    Thanks for this very good DIY. I did this mod and it worked fantastic. It was way to quiet before, but has now got a very nice sound now. The sound is still on the low side, but that might just be what you want.

    Nicely done video and the results are very good, I don't like loud cracking exhausts and this sounds nice. Well done!

    Way better sounding. Low tone growl, and not annoying . Look easy enough. Thanks

    Just finished this on my VN 1500 Classic Tourer (2000 Model year). Point to note, the baffles have a slightly larger measurement on the inside so if you follow this its a good idea to have a dremmel with a grinder/cutter handy.

    You told Jason Menard "NO" on re jetting the carbs!!!! And I will take you at your word. Now what about the "Catalytic Converter"on my 2007 Vulcan Nomad 1600. Did you drill it out?
    And if so what about the back pressure that I keep hearing is needed for the bike to operate at it's best?
    What work will I need to do on the fuel and air mixture (Crabs) if I De-baffle the pipes and drill out or gut the Catalytic Converter (Goat)?
    I hate to ruin an expensive piece of equipment, then find out I needed it.
    Need some good advice..
    Thank you...

    do all exhausts have their baffles welded?
    I asked a mechanic in Suzuki about a bike with a good sound if its baffles were removed and he was hand-checking the body of the exhasut. strange right?

    The sound is MUCH improved! Since most mc motors need SOME back-pressure to perform their best, have you considered installing some performance aftermarket baffles? I understant the Big City Thunder Monsters are pretty cool.

    Great mod, I'm tempered to do this but would like to know how did it effect performance with less back pressure, was there any popping and back firing on deceleration and did you do any other mods, i.e.: air intake and power commander ??

    I loved your Video and want to do the same to my 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1600.
    My question is, What about the Catalytic converter (Goat) did you drill the ends out?
    Did you do anything with it at all?
    Also did you have to install different needle valves and re-tune your carbs on the bike?

    I have a 91 Vulcan 1500. Will the same method have the same results, meaning the baffles just pull out as easy as yours did??

    So, it's been a couple of years since you posted this. How about an update? Did you leave them as is or upgrade to some after market pipes? Any performance change? I have an 04 and plan to do this next weekend as I'd like to avoid paying ~500 for a set of Cobra pipes. Thanks for the video btw!

    Too many unanswered questions here. Could you please help other fellow rides and tell us if you get deceleration pops, back firing, etc etc, loss of low end torque. Please post what did you do

    • @pingramnet
      @pingramnet  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jhonathan Rivera I didn't notice any negative effects whatsoever. Neither do you need to be concerned about the addition of a power commander or any such device as this mod is done on the exhaust side.

    • @pingramnet
      @pingramnet  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The popping on deceleration I got anyway, eventually I changed the exhaust completely to Jardine Rumblers which also had popping on deceleration.

      Paul Ingram did you feel a little gain of power due to the engine having more air flow? Or losses?

    • @pingramnet
      @pingramnet  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Didn't notice any gain in power, just liked the sound.

    I have just done this on my 1998 Vulcan Nomad exactly how you have shown and I cannot budge the baffle. Wobbles around in the muffler but cant seem to budge it. Any suggestions ?

    • @MrTravisCut
      @MrTravisCut 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      the same thing happened to me, i had to knock it loose by tapping the baffle with a hammer, then pulling it out.

    would this work for a Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero 1700 2016

    • @pingramnet
      @pingramnet  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm really not sure, you would have to ask someone else. My bike is a 2008 in this video so I'm sure the exhaust may be quite different on the Vaquero.

    This does not solve the problem entirely. I have 1600 nomad that has a muffler under the bike. This has to come out too.
