So a British company would follow the BP (British Pharmacopoeia), someone from the States would follow the USP (United States Pharmacopeia ), someone from Italy would follow the EP (European Pharmacopoeia) et cetera. For each API, the methods of analysis and details about the impurities can be found in those pharmacopoeias.
