Thank you for the post, it's always an absolute pleasure to listen you play guitar! I just wish the guitar parts weren't so loud compared to the parts when you're only speaking, I have to keep running for the volume control ;)
best amp ever brought absolutrly unreal the amount of tone shaping you can do with this amp on its own and with external even more so!havent even got to the midi part yet!
Johns riffs are so fing catchy. First time I ever saw him rip with the guitar was in ola's helix stomp video. Since then, I've honestly been hooked. I just started getting back into guitar after a 10+ year break, and what keeps me motivated are the tunes that John comes up with. I am lucky to have stumbled upon his videos because they really inspire me to play the guitar a lot more. Thanks John for the quality content and amazing riffage.
It sounds amazing, I had the small 50 watts version. Not sure if someone already said it but this amp is actually based on the 5150 and the Marshall JVM410 not the JCM800.
Nope. Rabea and Martin Kidd (Engineer/Owner of Victory) both said they used Rabea's '92 5150 and his JCM 900. Its easy to see how one would guess the JVM410, as its got a 900 circuit tone to it.
Absolutely love Victory amps! The Kraken is my favorite amp at the moment as it's just massive! I currently own the Kraken 50w VX, Sheriff 44 and the BD1 and they're all great.
I hear a lot of the Soldano SLO in here as well, similar tones to Rabea's demo. He loved the SLO, so not surprising to hear some overlap. Duvell too, lot of similarly good stuff going on.
This thing is nuts, you can really hear the dynamics of your playing through any setting. Absolute attack when you dig in and massive bloom when you were picking through the chords.
+1 to a collab with bea. While both of you are amazing players: your rhythm playing is super tight and Bea rocks saggy metal tones like I’ve never seen before. It would be awesome to see how you two would jam/improv together!
Damn, watching and listening through headphones felt like I was there when you cranked it up. Love the Amp and that Duvell is funny just watched your Master of Puppets play through yesterday with that same Duvell. Now a Gojira hoodie after the Tool one. You have some good taste my friend.
This amp is sick. To my ears it's an evolutio of the Sum41 sound. They used to blend Marshalls with an SLO. For me the Kraken does the same but with a slightly modern gain that's not as gainy sounding as a 5150, but rather raw and barky.
5:36 If this doesn't make it into a Monuments song, I'm suing! As always, pleasant playing John! What's the secret sauce you use to achieve those high pitched electric squeaks?
honestly that might be one of the best tube amps i've ever heard. it's tight but it has depth and is not sterile. a lot of modern amps are fatiguing to the ear to me. like, they sound good for a short time, then they just get annoying.
Hey John! If you've got time, could you then take the H&K Black Spirit 200 for a spin soon? It's been some time since it release, but does it still kick ass?
Do you think tis amp were versatile enough for most music genre besides metal? Im pretty interested in this amp because it got small head than others 100watter... Do u ever try the 50 watt version? Wanna know ur opinion of that version too because its the only version of kraken available in my country 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ 🍻🍻🍻🍻 and like always amazing playing and tone
Glad you reviewed this amp, i think it's honestly one of the most underrated metal amps out there. Since its release i haven't seen it on youtube too much. But i have used it as main amp since its release and it's just so versatile and good soiunding every step of the way. My only gripe with it is taht i would probably have liked a presence knob, but that's about all the complaints i have.
I thought the tones were great, very aggressive without being abrasive. It sounds sort of unforgiving, like there’s a precision or maybe transparency that doesn’t help hide mistakes. For some players that’s a plus, for others maybe not so much? I might be a bit too sloppy to really love this amp. But in the right hand, obv, it’s terrific.
He’s in DADGAD. Pretty much anything you hear from John Browne or Monuments is in some variation of DADGAD. Same with Tesseract, you can definitely tell they used to be in a band together (John Browne and Acle Kahney of Tesseract)
I don't really get what you mean when you say the 5150 sounds slow. Slow like how a digital amp feels? I never felt that about mine and have went through a few amps. I tend to like a bright amp sound bc my pickups are pretty dark so I mostly love it for how bright it gets when u crank the presence.
Hey Browne, I've heard you say in the past that you're not terribly fond of mahogany bodies. Would you say that the P90s in that axe do enough to counteract the darker aspects of it? Or is that Mayo somewhat of an anamoly?
Thanks for listening peeps! Sorry it’s been a while!
I enjoy your vids my man. Hope everything is fine on your end. Happy new year soon and let’s hope for a better 2021

Nissssssssssssssssssce 🍻
Have stupendous New Year🏆
Keep on keeping on brother 🎸
Great as always!! This amp sounds killer!! Whats the update on your neck bro!!! Hope it gets sorted man!!
since I can turn my neck up high
I don’t know how I missed this! Thank you for checking it out! Much love dude! Sounds great! :)
We need to see a Browne and Bea collab, just sayin...
Agreed
Fur reelz
Not sure the world would survive the heaviness
+1
Please please please
5 hour compilation of John Browne playing on various amps needs to be a thing that goes viral
I love how much the sound of the actual string comes through even with a dose of gain. It's a pretty articulate amp. I like it a lot. 🙂
This for my ear literally sounds like of marshall made a modern metal amp. I agree it sounds awesome.
Yeh it gives me 8100 vibes for sure
@@JohnBrownemonuments hell yeah my nay nay

Nice Gojira hoodie. And holy hell that amp.

Thanks for the kind words James! Glad you’re back to the guitar, it helps with life!

Always a joy to watch when someone vibes with a piece of gear and their playing comes to life! Can totally tell you where feeling this amp.
I think it was at his flat, mate
At 8:14 WOW! 🙌🏻. Just huge Body and mids. Love the demo
Great demo! I got mine 2 or 3 weeks ago, and it's a killer amp. Can't wait to get out of lockdown and drag it to band practice!!!
How is the volume taper and can it do low volumes and still sound full?. Thanks
I never thought a guitar could clip the bass of my headphones
Sounds like you need new headphones 🦾🦾
I always love coming back to old vids where I notice john playing riffs from unreleased songs at the time. 5:36
I hear a lot of the Soldano SLO in here as well, similar tones to Rabea's demo. He loved the SLO, so not surprising to hear some overlap. Duvell too, lot of similarly good stuff going on.

Ayyy crossover of my 2 favourite guitarists! You love to see it lads
I love mine. You've really captured how this amp sounds in person
I cannot get enough of Browne’s playing, so interesting!
I always love a Browne demo, the heaviest clean sounds in the business 😂 on a serious note, great demo, great amp 👌
This amp goes right to my dream/favourite amp list! Right next to Dover and Granophyre.
Had been waiting for you to try some victory stuff man!
Can I send you my KSR Ceres for you to borrow and do a video on?
Funny seeing you here 🙃🙃🙃
@@rorbot_SMF I live here lol Browne is the best!
@@PariahVSGear Yeah man, definition of a boss 😄
I would love that!!!!!!
DAMN, what a fantastic distortion.
John seemed to have the same fun with this as his had with the SL-100 unit hehe
need impulses of that cab! sounds insane
Indeed ! I think the mic used affects the sound a little, too. I love this ribbon mic on guitar cab.
really sick amp, loved hearing a similar, but very different player really putting it through its paces. it’s definitely on my radar.
God damn! Well I know what my big purchase of 2021 is already...
The beginning was the perfect "Queens of the stone age" "No one knows" tone.
I really like this guy's style
Would love a head to head with this amp and the Peavey Invective! No additional pedals though... Just the amps!
The beak on that supa squid got a heavy bite
Cool chords in the clean section
the look on Browne's face after "because their serial number system meant that they didn't keep dates." priceless

I just watched the entire video because the guitar riffs are freakin amazing lol
10:05 - One bend to rule them all!
6:29 Let's flick the crunch switch! *High Gain Goodness*
Gojira was using Peavey for years. Im gonna check out this amp more,Victory.
Wow that thing sounds awesome, nice demo!
19:05 - Missed a golden opportunity to say "you did a Kraken job.' Excellent video nonetheless.
5:36 If this doesn't make it into a Monuments song, I'm suing! As always, pleasant playing John! What's the secret sauce you use to achieve those high pitched electric squeaks?
Little do we know he just played a kick from the new song
I really enjoyed this video. I'm curious if ou ever compared the Victory to the Revv Gen MkIII or a KSR?
cool riffs mate love this amp and im getting it 100w rulez
Sounds ... kraken-y. And your technique is mesmerizing as ever, sir.
Damn, that thing sounds great.
GASing for this with a victory 2x12. I like how warm and thick it sounds compared to the ice pick high end of a 5150.
Did it have el34 or 6l6?
Dude. That thing sounds amazing.
Beast! Monster sound in such a small unit. Great vid! 🤘
Hey man! Nice stuff. Question tho... would you rather have the super kraken, or a FRYETTE deliverance 120??
Always fun watching you play.
It's been very Yorkshire weather in the Midlands too 😎

Sounds great. I have the 50w version and I love it!
Hi John, what would you chose this one or Revv 120 ?

Do you like the Super Kraken or the TC-100 better?

John is slowly morphing into Brian Eschbach.
Your riffs are fuckin SICK
Amazing!
BTW, witch tuning are you using?
pretty sure it's open C

@@RebelKicks-mn4kc that’s right. Open C was Devin Townsend I think. I might’ve mixed that up with dadgad a step down.
I think it's marshall JVM, not JCM900 .. never watch or seen Rabea plays JCM900.
Channel 1 is based on a JCM 900.
Time for you to go back to playing more mahogany body Duvells !!

oh my god. ferocious.

sounds sooooo good
Don't be afraid to increase the volume of your voice next time :)
Well, *that's* a huge sound! Hopefully it will be modeled by Neural DSP some happy day....
Rabea is fuckin super sick💯🙌🏾
Best Show on YT
When you played Quasimodo, I shit my jeans.
‘Played’ haha 😂
It would be so awesome if you guys played that song live with Andy! I think he would kill it!!!
@@joeyrusnak1331 I hope you changed your britches mate

Great job man, how am I just hearing about you now? Insta like and sub...
The JCM900 is my favorite amp of all time, so it's nice to see a modern take on it without having to use an overcooked overdrive and two noise-gates.
Kraken + Gojira = Like!
How in hell can a p90 pickup sound like that? Maaan
This is a P90 rail so technically a humbucker, however I find P90s to be way more aggressive than humbuckers for the most part
Nice amp, nice playing \m/ John, your voice through the mic was a bit quiet.
make that riff at 8:33 a downpicking gym exercise please holy shit
Was this thev6l6 or el34 version?
Save some riffs for us Browne!
Does anyone tune their guitars above C sharp anymore?
Please do a review of Kraken Pedal as well!
is that you valvestate 8100??
