    Hi Bilal. Thanks for the question. We reached out to Dan Baker for an answer to your question. Dan said, "In a multi-jet meter, water is directed into a measuring chamber and through a multi-veined rotor. The output speed of the rotor is proportional to the volume of the water. The adjustment screw on most brands of multi-jet meters is connected to an internal vein that will increase or decrease the speed of the water entering the measuring chamber. The adjustment screw is normally used by the manufacturer in the testing phase to make final adjustments for accuracy before releasing the meter for sale." Dan does not recommend adjusting the screw because it could make the meter over-register water flow.

    I asked the SRQ water department billings clerk how many defective reading meter have they replaced. She said: "None". Meanwhile, my meter said I used 41,000 gallons last month. Yet, I can't find the pipe leak outside so far.

      Much more common than the utility companies would have you believe.

      My meter has a digital display. Been using 2000 gal a month for years. Last month I was billed for 54,000 gals. After much investigation I found the meter was now reporting in cubic feet not gallons. 54,000 cf is 2000 gal give or take a hundred.
      You can check this by google “calculate gal to cubic feet”. Use the gals from your last bill to enter in calculator. You may find your now being billed for CF which makes your bill a few hundred percent higher.

      My bill showed I used 83,000 for the month of August when my monthly average for the last 3 years was range from 3-6000 gallons. My bill went from $75, 80 and month to $755.

      @hornet224 have you [or @tracy_nguyen or @Tide_Fan] been writing complaining letters to news or political offices locally right before the meter-outrage reading? Just wondering about the timing of your punishing bill? TTYL

      @@tidefan4987 when you caught the switch and made them rectify it, did the next bill re-adjust the month's 'starting' reading to the correct units?
      Seems it should mess up the billing programs..
      Thanks for the heads up on that trick.... I wonder whether that switch is done manually or if some hacker could send a signal to do the switch??? and how was it switched back? Great insight....
      Because it was a two-step switch... 1-- pretend the 2000gal to 2000cubic yards then 2-- convert the 2000 cubic yards to genuinely equivalent 54000 cubic ft... then transmit it to some receiver that expected gallons... WOW... That sure doesn't look accldental.... Thanks again.... ttyl

    The water meter is used to measure flow of water because they will charge you for every meter of water that goes thru the meter. Helix Water District is located in San Diego County in Southern California. to best of my knowledge having lived in the feces layered county of San Diego for most of my adolescent life.

    Do you have a reference for the test (Instructions or procedure ) ?

      Hello,
      We are using the American Water Works Association manual for water meters -selection, installation, testing and maintenance to perform our meter testing.

    Hi.
    Can anyone tell me that what does the adjustment screw on the multi-jet water meter do ? What does it adjust and how ?

    • @ElPlatanoMojado
      @ElPlatanoMojado ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It adjusts the trajectory of the water into the jet causing the meter to run slower or faster.

    How I can fix my water meter which is reading wrong

      Thanks for asking. You should talk to your water utility and see what options they have for testing your meter and to see what the issue is.

      @@helixwaterdistrict461My water meter is 22 yrs old and I just noticed that the needle keeps jumping forward 4 slots. My water bill when up from 50 dls to 125 dls. My water bill for the last 4 months and beyond, was 50 to 58 dls a month. Do you think the water meter is breaking down? No leaks found?

    • @helixwaterdistrict461
      @helixwaterdistrict461  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheSavior81 Thanks for asking. Meters move when there is water use and old meters, like yours, let more water slip past the meter than it will register. I wouldn't be worried about an old meter I would be worried about the jumping needle, which indicates water use. Given the description, it sounds like either a cycling toilet, a fill valve, or a malfunctioning irrigation valve. Rule those issues out first, then if you have not found anything, contact your water utility and ask what options they have for assistance.

      @@helixwaterdistrict461 But the valves at toilets are close? The needle jumps when I turned the hose on? If the water is running the needle should be running consistently. The needle jumps 4 slots. Ive seen meters run but never jumps 4 slots when running. Could it be cause by this 22 yr old water meter? The city gave me the option to test the meter using a 3rd party. They would charge me 65dls to get it test. Why dosent the city just change the water meter being that it's 22 yrs old?

      @@TheSavior81 To your second question: It depends on their replacement cycle and what is cost-effective for them to fund. Water out here is more expensive than other parts of the US and gives us a shorter replacement period of 20 years.
