- It’s the moment all Indiana Fever fans have been waiting for as DeWanna Bonner looks to be the final BIG signing to the team in free agency! She adds some MUCH NEEDED length to the team while also solidifying the team as possibly the best offensive team in the game! Was this a good signing? Are the Fever planning anything else??
You have provided such great insight regarding this latest news, as usual. Ever since the new Fever management took over, it's been pretty much pedal to the metal all the way, starting with bringing Stephanie White (and her staff) on board. I agree, now having veteran enforcers will hopefully mean Caitlin won't have to endure so much abuse this season (plus, she's no longer a rookie). And she will have a significantly stronger team to work with, supported by a competent and respected coaching staff. It's gonna be fun!
The fox is now literally guarding the henhouse, you really think Bonner is going to stick her scrawny scarecrow neck on the line for CC? Her and Thomas will likely collab and scheme up ways they can get her injured. And throw games for the Mercury just like Nalyssa did for the mustard queen.

@@christopherkohl6511 Nah they're fine. Clark playing 36+ minutes per game leaves 4 and anyone can bring the ball up. Not all the G/Fs will make it Brown is no guarantee. They will have enough for a decent 2nd team and the season is still 3 months away. Berger didn't really have "it" when she got PT.

@@artistamistoThere's more to a point guard than just "bringing the ball up". If Clark goes down for 5, 10 or 20 games they are going to be screwed royally without a table setter to step in and help out. Better to have her and not need her than to need her and not have her.

When people were freaking out about losing Temi, I posted that they better be prepared for a lot more changes, and that by the time they won their first chip, there might only be 4 or 5 players left from last years roster. I just didn't expect it was going to happen this fast.
Great content as always! The Fever has brilliantly put the team in the Championship conversation. I am so excited I wish the season started today. They're looking like the showtime Lakers and Michael Jordan's Bulls. The pace is going to be insane and the highlights will be over the top! The league overall has become more competitive with all the moves made so far....but as they say...there can be only 1...and that's the Fever!

@@TaiyouArtthis exactly! They are the fastest team, with the highest offensive power, and the most adaptable. Coach White can configure specific team builds to defeat each team in the W. Scouting reports will be largely useless against the Fever. All they will have basically is "Caitlin is still PG".

@@tabularasa9554The Fever got significantly slower with the Bonner signing. I just cringe thinking about the Howard/Bonner/Boston frontcourt that we'll most likely be seeing most of the year while the two fast, young energy players (Hull/SC) warm the bench.

I think the team height is fine, CC22 creativity will address it on the offensive side. On D…got to like who we picked up. These players are intense.
The one thing I do know about her is she was a huge pain in the ass to play against. I'm glad she's on our team
Bonner knows when to step up! In the playoffs she is turning it up. Stephanie knows her and she knows what is expected. She is a pure 3 point shooter and excellent on defense.
I suspect the Fever may not be done yet since they just waived Grace Berger. They’re going to have to get a better backup PG at some point.

Indy is THE super team now. Being that it has come out that they waived Berger, Saxton and Wheeler, that leaves one open spot on the team. Will we see a French player in the draft???

You've become our "Santa Claus", bringing all these gifts to our TH-cam feed. This is amazing news. I think the additions to the Fever are going to be amazing for the teams ability to, not only GET to the Playoffs this year, but actually contend. Not sure if we have the team to win it (though hoping), but what we see here on paper...is a team that's going to ball, all year long. Marie and I are SO excited for all the possibilities.

Bonner has been a pretty good player for so long that I don't see an issue with her stepping aside on the court for Caitlin to run the show. But Bonner could certainly step aside on the court and let her friends on the other team sneak in and gouge Caitlin's eye out.

The Bonner thing came down to one play really. Caitlin went up for a jump shot and when she came down Bonner was in her landing zone. That is a foul but it wasn't called. Since it is something every player should know about because it is so dangerous that CC went off on Bonner. Bonner pushed back on that instead of an being apologetic and that is where the friction is.

With the 3 non-guaranteed contracts for their draft picks, they would be 200k over the cap. Also new guard Jaelyn Brown & Victaria Saxton are on non-guaranteed rookie contracts. I think they are loaded right now. With my estimates of salaries for Bonner & Howard being near the max, they are capped right now, so future moves or bringing on draft picks will require player movement.

It’s crazy what Kelly Krauskopf is able to do in such little time back in the fever organization. Something that Lin Dunn was not, this fever team has become crazy stacked in a matter of what 2 weeks a month? Yes I understand Lin Dunn was able to draft KM, AB, CC. But Kelly Krauskopf has done the same if not more in a fraction of the time.
Dunn was able to draft 2 of the 3 By Finishing LAST. Her Genius Plan was to finish last for 2-3-4 More Years and build a Super Team, all by sitting and letting Sides Lose, Lose And Lose.
She is now Out To Pasture with only a Titular Position, with Zero Decision Making Ability....And Rightly So

No more slow starts for the Fever, it is going to get serious right from the start of the season.. They are going to come out of the starting blocks with a force that will take many by surprise.. I would not be surprised to see them average 100 points per game.. Several players to drop 3's all day, stretch the court to the limits, open lanes, a lot of passing with little dribbling to speed up the game.. Whoa.. They will dominate the paint, front court and rear court.. Who is going to challenge that..?
I agree with a different podcaster that the Fever letting Berger go now was a favor to Grace. She probably wasn't going to see the floor much and they're are other teams, including the Valkyries, where she could get some real minutes.

Fever president Kelly Krauskopf promised to surround Caitlin Clark with *experience* and then signed 3 WNBA veterans; Sophie Cunningham (28-years-old / 6 years WNBA), Natasha Howard (33-years-old / 11 years WNBA), DeWanna Bonner (37-years-old / 16 years WNBA). I am still worried that DB could be NaLyssa Smith 2.0. Krauskopf also talked about making team chemistry and high work ethic a top priority, and then traded NaLyssa Smith. Signing Natasha Howard, Sophie Cunningham and DeWanna Bonner and re-signing Kelsey Mitchell has just made the Fever the scariest team in the WNBA in 2025 and a team that will challenge for the title.

Went from a young team to one of the older teams in the league. Is Taurasi signing next? I'm not sure this team will actually have good chemistry. Remember, older players get injured more often. If Howard and Bonner suit up 44 games between the two of them I'll be surprised. I'm not sure after watching a few Suns games last year that White actually had much control over the behavior of that team. Particularly Carrington being creepy but I saw Thomas take cheap shots too. I think they'll regret getting rid of Berger.

Last season, when fever ran these 4: Clark, Boston, Mitchell, Hull and then EITHER Temi OR Dantas - that was their best 5. Temi has better defence rating, Dantas had better offence rating but on balance, statistically, they were equivalent. Smith by comparison was hugely negative (literally like -20 to -30!). The fact they dropped Smith and have Bonner who is straight up better than Fagbenle when it comes to offence. They also have Howard AND Cunningham. I think they might be able to retain the desire of these new team members to stay with them too.

Wallace $$$ was gauranteed. With all the big spending going on you'd think they'd be willing to eat that salary and keep Berger whose a better player with an upside to boot.

I'm not as fired up as most seem to be. This kind of win-a-championship-NOW kind of team building rarely results in one. It takes time, consistency, and chemistry to build championship team. Cunningham seems to be the one who will immediately fit right in. Howard and Bonner are not a given no matter their veteran status or how much fans might want them to be. And cutting Grace Berger just has a bad feeling about it. I'll hope for the best but don't get the feeling any of this is an automatic winning formula.

Phoenix??? Fail. Fever are way ahead of Phoenix at the moment, especially if Taurasi (42 years old) does not retire. If Taurasi retires, it frees up cap space to aquire 1 excellent player or two that could be significant contributors. But Phoenix apparently did not make a serious move on Bonner, and their options with free agents are dwindling, so unless they can manage a big trade Phoenix is a middle-of-the-pack team in 2025.

@ Brown won't be played much, if at all. I said under the radar because the Fever didn't make noise over her like they did with Howard, Bonner, and Cunningham. She's not a key piece. Also you should be excited, because they now have a solution for every team including the Lynx, who are their #1 threat. Expect very creative rotations and matching strats from coach White.

I agree. On paper all these signings may seem great but its way too many changes and not only that far too many chiefs and not enough Indians. There is going to be bickering and squabbling over the limited
minutes, chemistry issues, age issues (having one geezer puts the team at the tipping point, two getting significant minutes starts to slow the team down). The two energy players (Hull/Cunningham) whom the fans want to see will be riding pine mostly so fans will be unhappy. Bottom line: The sum of teams' parts is not going to equal the output. I see this season being an abysmal dissappointment.

The next 3 expansion teams are San Francisco (2025), Toronto (2026), and Portland (2026). Everything beyond that is speculation, but cities/ownership groups that have submitted formal applications and seem to be next in line include Houston, Detroit, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Nashville. Longer term...Milwaukee, Kansas City, Austin, and St. Louis.

@@53toddkFunny I heard the same things from Christy Sides' supporters all year last year. This off season started off great but has turned into massive overkill, way too many shakeups and signings. If the goal was to win NOW they pretty much ruined that chance in my opinion by adding Bonner and Brown to an already overflowing rotation most of which will be brand new to the team and will need a full season to gel.

I think Bonner starts games, but Lexie Hulk may take her place in the crunch time lineup
Lexie Hull, Sophie and Katie Lou will all be bench sitting while the newcomers Bonner and Brown steal their spotlight. I don't give a rats ass if the Fever go on a 3 peat I'm not going to be watching and I don't care to watch thug ballers.

Should've let the Mercury sign her which they absolutely would have even if they had to cut a player to get her onboard. Did the WNBA and Fever org not just learn a painful lesson with the Smith / Carrington debacle? Apparently not. I'll tell you what too, Bonner just being the absolute dirtball she is taints the entire Fever season and it's almost gauranteed she will plunge the knife into their backs given half the chance.
On court "chippiness" is one thing. Trying to assault and injure other players is quite another. Dewanna Bonner many times last year deliberately jumped under Clark's landings getting their feet tangled up and knocking CC to the ground. She did this repeatedly to Clark in both regular season and playoffs. She knew the crooked WNBA referees were letting them beat the crap out of Clark on the court and took full advantage of this fact along with several of her teammates. Miraculously this never caused an ankle sprain or other catastrophic injury like an ACL tear because Clark is a tough cookie. But it absolutely could have. For this reason I can't give my approval of this signing. I don't care if she helps the Fever win a championship for me it's already tainted with her presence. I want these thug players disciplined harshly anytime they get out of line bur as we all know the league caters directly to them, because all of then essentially come from a certain demographic.

Agreed. She's going to screw the Fever over in the playoffs by pulling a Nalyssa Smith dissappearing act, and her 140 lb frame is not going help defend the Napheesa Colliers, Stewies, JJ's, Aja Wilsons, AR etc from dominating the paint.

You can not promote yourself to a championship. The Fever were a mediocre team. Now they are slightly better but just slightly better. I am extremely disappointed with the management. Planning for one year and done is kind of disgusting.
Anybody who messed with CC last season is not pretty much teamless and or fired or have bended the knee.
