2:16-3:15 Well for The Smurfs was based on comics so replace that with a live-action Tom and Jerry movie cashing-in on the box-office results of Alvin and the Chipmunks, Yogi Bear did got a movie released in theaters with Hey There, It's Yogi Bear, there will be Speedy Gonzales and Pepe Le Pew besides Marvin the Martian.
Actually, the Scooby Doo movie was meant to be an R rated self parody, with sex and drug references. But Warner Bros turned it into a PG family film at the last minute
Ever seen that live action Cat in the Hat movie with Mike Myers in it? That movie wasn't just based on a cartoon, it was also based on a kids book by Dr. Seuss. The book came out before the cartoon though. The book came out in 1957, the cartoon came out in 1971, and the movie came out in 2003.
The only live-action movies based on a cartoon referenced in this episode are The Filntstones, George of the Jungle, Dudley-Do-Right, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle: The Movie, Scooby-Doo: The Movie, Yogi Bear: The Movie and the feature film starring Marvin the Martian.
The most recent one when this was uploaded to TH-cam was also the first film of the 2010 decade which is a live-action movie based on cartoon is The Last Airbender, as well as the final is Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
The only live action movies based on animated series is Scooby doo (2002) Garfield the movie (2004) The flintstones (1993) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) and transformers (2007)
Yeah at least those movies tried to make them just like the cartoons besides modernizing it,turning the main characters into crappy cgi, letting popular actors be unlikable jerks to the characters, and making it cool for the kids
The only ones you mentioned were based on a cartoon and animated TV show was The Flintstones and Scooby-Doo: The Movie (based on Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?). But the only live-action movies based on a cartoon that were released in 1990's and 2000's were Boris & Natasha: The Movie, both Flintstones movies distributed by Universal, Mr. Magoo: The Movie, the live-action Casper film series, the George of the Jungle movies, Dudley-Do-Right: The Movie, Inspector Gadget: The Movie (along with its sequel), The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle: The Movie, Scooby-Doo: The Movie (along with Scooby-Doo 2 and the live-action ones released outside of theaters worldwide), Fat Albert, Aeon Flux, Underdog, Ben 10: Race Against Time and Alien Swarm.
If you're gonna watch a Transformers movie, watch the animated one from 1986. That one follows the rule: If you're gonna make a cartoon into a movie, that's fine. Provided it's kept as a cartoon.
@ydomanoaccount2 Pink Panther is a completely different story, the cartoons were actually based of the opening of the 1963 movie. If you're talking about the Steve Martin one, that was a reboot/remake of the old Pink Panther movies.
The number one animated movie turned into a live action version was 101 Dalmations. Why didn't the dogs talk? Garfeild and Scooby Doo talked in their cartoon versions. The main reason I loved 101 Dalamations as a kid was because they talked.
That would never work. First of all, much of Ed, Edd n' Eddy's humor is slapstick and based on exaggeration; forms of humor that animation is great at, but live action isn't so good at. Second, all the characters in the show are children, and children do not make good actors. It works much better when you have animated children being voiced by adults.
Rant about these films coming out next year: 1. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer 2. Spider-Man 4 (The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Dorothy of Oz 4. Dilbert 5.Wreck-It Ralph
Scooby-Doo: This movie was very funny and had a great soundtrack. Transformers: The girl holding the My Little Pony looking for the tooth fairy was funny, but the Furby thing was cruel!
What I want to see are live-action movies based off video games , like: Mario ( cgi animated , comedy/adventure ) Angry Birds ( cgi animated , comedy ) Legend of Zelda ( live-action , drama/adventure ) Sonic ( cgi animated , drama/comedy ) Pokemon ( 2d animated , drama/comedy/adventure )
There is already The Angry Birds Movie in 2016 and sequel 2019, Pokemon Detective Pikachu in 2019 and the Sonic movies in 2020 and 2022. There is also the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie coming in 2023
Truth be told, I personally like some live-action movies based off cartoons. Like, I enjoyed the two live-action Garfield movies, I thought the live-action Yogi Bear was OK, and I love the live-action Underdog film, to name a few.
The giant robot thing I can answer since I'm a fan of genre. It stems from the 70s and 80s when robots were vogue because you had shows like Mazinger Z, Grendizer, Getter Robo, Golion and Dairugger (aka Voltron), Mobile Suit Gundam, Go-Bots and the Transformers. So a big screen adaptation of the Transformers (for those who don't know of the 1986 movie) seemed only natural.
The first live action Alvin and the Chipmunks movie (and in a tie with SpongeBob SquarePants) is the movie I've seen second-most watched in cars by kids, only beaten by Garfield and Friends. We watched the Garfield movie in elementary school. I only remember that Garfield was more like a teen and watched MTV. I really want to see A Tale Of Two Kitties. "Odie, don't do the American thing!" Also, I hate the fact that Transformers bashed Furbies. I love Furbies!
i agree with you on the transformers rant 'cause the animated version was sooooo much better,it didn't have a guy who makes a fuckin' come-back years after disney channel went down-hill,just a little girl who's also a kick-ass robot!!!
I can agree with this rant. Personally I blame the American media trying to make a fast cash grab out of this sort of situation. Then again that's my own opinion on this you can debate on how this topic goes.
I could deal until you got to Transformers. Have you seen Dark of the Moon!? Sure the films have strayed a little bit from the 80s cartoon, but it has the basic ideas: autobots vs decepticons. I enjoy the films.
@highwings89 But when studios try half assing a cartoon movie by hiring film stars that look nothing like the cartoon (or can't even freakin fight) like Dragon Ball Z or Street Fighter, and low budgeting the production, is when everything turns to hell. I mean comic book movies, were also turned to cartoons, and they do freakin well. Why other then decades of fans, studios actually put an effort to put money in it, get great actors, and work on the story. It can be done, sometimes good or bad
I liked the Cartoon version of Alvin and the Chipmunks, but I do not quite understand the popularity of the live-action/CGI AATC movies. But that could be just me though.
Popeye: Looks epic! Flinstones: That poster cracks me up! Garfield: This was awesome (I love Garfield), but where's Binky The Clown? He's my favorite! Dragonball: I want to see this, since I love anime! Ninja Turtles: Never seen this one. Rocky and Bullwinkle: Looks cute. Dudley Do-Right: Weird. George of the Jungle: I've heard of this, sounds like it's good. Smurfs: This was really funny! Especially the FAO Schwartz scene! Yogi Bear: I wanted to see this. Marvin the Martin: Cool.
Yes, the 'Ninja Turtle' movies were good. (Well, the first two, anyway) but they originated in the comics, don't forget. So comics, I could let slide since they're usually drawn realistically. Having said that, I agree with you that some cartoons should stay cartoons. Especially if they have A distinctive style that can't be recreated in live action.
That was a live-action comic book and comic book superhero movie (while being released before the first-two live-action movies based on a cartoon that are Boris & Natasha: The Movie and The Flintstones movie released by Universal in 1994.
Actually the first TMNT movie was based off the comics not the cartoon. It had a darker tone and included Casey Jones, both of which weren't in the cartoon.
@Mugenlazlo I hope Hollywood won't turn that into live action. I remember seeing reviews on the live action Dragonball movie and I thought it was going to be awesome but its stupid.
what's next? the peanuts? powerpuff girls? i hate what hollywood is coming up with. the only cartoon to live action film i like is "how the grinch stole christmas"
Personally, Dragonball: Evolution is the WORST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!!!! It crapped on my childhood so much, it feels like my childhood was crap to begin with!
Michael Bay had made a number of excuses to back up his decisions and everything. But when it gets right down to it, Bay really doesn't give a shit about Transformers. He was just looking for a way to make money. Well, he succeeded. But money isn't everything. Quality is everything. But apparently, people just don't give a shit about quality anymore. What happened to the days when creativity was a big deal? Seriously.
thank you for speaking of the horrors studios are doing to cartoon turned live action. Studios just keep butt raping us, and they don't stop because they make money out of it. In addition to Micheal Bay, he has lost all ability to tell a freakin story. The Only movie that any story was Armageddon, and it was because bruce willis saved the film with his presence and acting/ the movie had a story at least. But the others O_O, don't get me started. Some cartoon movies can be done well if done right
I liked the Flintstones, Scooby Doo, and Rocky and Bullwinkle movies. Yogi Bear sucked hard. Let's not forget casting Rosie O'donnell as Betty. That was just plain nasty.
I never actually seen Dragonball live-action but seen the show. Both the original dragonball and dragonball z. Man, have the ones who made that so-called movie had never watch the cartoons?
4:28 What about Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins, as it should be mentioned with the live-action Ben 10 movies?
2:16-3:15 Well for The Smurfs was based on comics so replace that with a live-action Tom and Jerry movie cashing-in on the box-office results of Alvin and the Chipmunks, Yogi Bear did got a movie released in theaters with Hey There, It's Yogi Bear, there will be Speedy Gonzales and Pepe Le Pew besides Marvin the Martian.

+Steven Dolce Too bad it wasn't that good of a movie!
Of course it wasn't that good.
He knows, which is why it is best to not mention that movie, so that our lives can be much easier.
You are so right! I can't believe I never thought of that!
Fairly Oddparents got three already
I Hope Powerpuff Isnt Next...
Dude you forgot Alvin and the Chipmunks films!
the Marvin the Martin movie was annouced, but the production didn't start yet
The most recent one when this was uploaded to TH-cam was also the first film of the 2010 decade which is a live-action movie based on cartoon is The Last Airbender, as well as the final is Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
I am so glad I found somebody that liked the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie. Me and My Uncle and dad loved that movie.
I remember when 20th Century Fox adapted Fat Albert into a live action movie back in 2004.
I heard Universal is making a live action Woody Woodpecker movie.
I wonder what it would be like if they made a live action thunder cats movie?
Shhhh! Don't give them ideas!
at least they are now making cartoons in 3d animation instead of live action
Surprised you didn't include the Underdog movie.
that has laser guns and laser swords and at the same time they have car parts on them
I actually LIKED Yogi Bear, but I see your point on the others.
Scooby doo mystery begins made by cartoon network was amazing
You predicted the future
Chad Hawksworth he predicted a bigger future. Disney movies are becoming live action movies lol. Cant believe dumbo is on its way
You forgot the Aeon Flux movie from 2005.
The guy who played Shaggy in the live action movie kinda looks like Edge from WWE.
The only live action movies based on animated series is Scooby doo (2002) Garfield the movie (2004) The flintstones (1993) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) and transformers (2007)

Thank you, for that hansen.
6:59 you are absolutely right!
If you're gonna watch a Transformers movie, watch the animated one from 1986. That one follows the rule: If you're gonna make a cartoon into a movie, that's fine. Provided it's kept as a cartoon.
I thought the Garfield movies were HILARIOUS!!!
@ydomanoaccount2 Pink Panther is a completely different story, the cartoons were actually based of the opening of the 1963 movie. If you're talking about the Steve Martin one, that was a reboot/remake of the old Pink Panther movies.
The Last Airbender and Scooby Doo, enough said
It's a good thing Beast Wars and Beast Machines didn't get adapted into Live Action. That would be very difficult.
I liked Garfield. It was like Garfield grew up from being a kid to a teenager.
The number one animated movie turned into a live action version was 101 Dalmations. Why didn't the dogs talk? Garfeild and Scooby Doo talked in their cartoon versions. The main reason I loved 101 Dalamations as a kid was because they talked.
Well, we're Smurfed
I wonder what it would be like if there we're a live action of ed edd Eddy
That would never work. First of all, much of Ed, Edd n' Eddy's humor is slapstick and based on exaggeration; forms of humor that animation is great at, but live action isn't so good at. Second, all the characters in the show are children, and children do not make good actors. It works much better when you have animated children being voiced by adults.
Transformers: The Ride 3D at Universal Studios Is freaking amazing!!!
@PuffyZillaman4 lol
Rant about these films coming out next year:
1. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer
2. Spider-Man 4 (The Amazing Spider-Man
3. Dorothy of Oz
4. Dilbert
5.Wreck-It Ralph
Scooby-Doo: This movie was very funny and had a great soundtrack.
Transformers: The girl holding the My Little Pony looking for the tooth fairy was funny, but the Furby thing was cruel!
Watch 1:12-1:55 and then watch Ben's review of "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle."
1:14-1:55 to be exact.
"I think it's what's on the inside that counts, not the outside".
Here, here! :D
im suprised you didnt touch on the new avatar the last airbender live action movie
They're not making a live action Danny Phantom
From what I heard, the guy who directed the Smurfs movie is the same guy who directed the Scooby Doo movies. Well we're boned!
What I want to see are live-action movies based off video games , like:
Mario ( cgi animated , comedy/adventure )
Angry Birds ( cgi animated , comedy )
Legend of Zelda ( live-action , drama/adventure )

bad news the jetsons is turning into a live action film im not kidding
My dad did storyboards for the smurfs and it was ok
I think you forgot to cover the Pink Panther movies.
Truth be told, I personally like some live-action movies based off cartoons. Like, I enjoyed the two live-action Garfield movies, I thought the live-action Yogi Bear was OK, and I love the live-action Underdog film, to name a few.
Rocky and Bullwinkle is my favorite movie!
I heard they're making a sequel
Wait Megan Fox is playing April? NOOOOOOO

The Last Airbender movie!
That was truly terrible
The first live action Alvin and the Chipmunks movie (and in a tie with SpongeBob SquarePants) is the movie I've seen second-most watched in cars by kids, only beaten by Garfield and Friends.
We watched the Garfield movie in elementary school. I only remember that Garfield was more like a teen and watched MTV. I really want to see A Tale Of Two Kitties. "Odie, don't do the American thing!"

Also seriously a Dragonball live action movie! How half-baked do you have to get to try this?
A whole movie on recycling? Sounds like something the Disney Channel would do!
Megan fox, could have sworn it was a sub species of the fox.
4:44-4:56- Answer to everyone of why Ben hated the Transformers movie.
I could deal until you got to Transformers. Have you seen Dark of the Moon!? Sure the films have strayed a little bit from the 80s cartoon, but it has the basic ideas: autobots vs decepticons. I enjoy the films.
okay dbz live action movie was uncalled for
Transformers movie killed my childhood!
was it out in 2010? it might not have been
*cough* The Last Airbender *cough*
@highwings89 But when studios try half assing a cartoon movie by hiring film stars that look nothing like the cartoon (or can't even freakin fight) like Dragon Ball Z or Street Fighter, and low budgeting the production, is when everything turns to hell. I hate to see them make a Boondocks movie.
The guy behind that idea would be dealing a ton of Blow and highly delusional for that idea. Also expected to die after making this idea.
Bunny Speed we already seen it. It's called B.E.T.
I liked the Cartoon version of Alvin and the Chipmunks, but I do not quite understand the popularity of the live-action/CGI AATC movies. But that could be just me though.
@PuffyZillaman4 They are also making a Pepe Le Pew movie to.

this video was from 3 years ago.
Benthelooney's voice sounds a lot like David Spade, Aka Emperor Kuzco. from The Emperor's new groove, Ring a bell?!!
Yes, the 'Ninja Turtle' movies were good. (Well, the first two, anyway) but they originated in the comics, don't forget. So comics, I could let slide since they're usually drawn realistically. Well i actually agree with you this time. Except Garfield. Garfield rules
Fun fact: The live-action Scooby-Doo movie was originally supposed to be a parody of the show. A lot changed since then
7:47 u try drawing a gigantic robot
I agree with Ben completely.
What trailer?
not really, this was Ben's first channel, until he made another one called, Benthelooney
@Mugenlazlo I hope Hollywood won't turn that into live action. I remember seeing reviews on the live action Dragonball movie and I thought it was going to be awesome but its stupid.
@mattjnor98 maybe also if they actually had a old man playing roshi and a Japanese guy playing goku then sure it could have been better
Someone should MST3K some of these movies. XD
You made a great rant! Bravo, I agree with you 100%.
APOX ON YOU!!! how could you not like transformers?! it was awesome!
@Sulu4Shantelle You forgot the smurfs.
@Mugenlazlo Try watching the youtube rants and reviews. Alot of Dragonball fans were mad about this.
i totally agree. except scott pilgrim (if you count that as a cartoon) was a pretty good movie
what's next? the peanuts? powerpuff girls? i hate what hollywood is coming up with. the only cartoon to live action film i like is "how the grinch stole christmas"
@RycroftFilmz1 Thanks.
2007.

@Mugenlazlo The Smurfs was in live action and it was weird. I like the cartoon version better.
Because no one can think up original ideas anymore.
I actually enjoyed The Flintstones movie, Steven Speilburg can make any movie great!
What's next?Live action Danny phantom?Live action randy Cunningham?Live action Clarence?Live action Uncle Grandpa?Live action Steven Universe?Live action Fanboy and dum dum?Live action regular show?Live action gumball?Even worse......live action Plants vs Zombies
