Im from Nashville. I was raised up hour south of there. I agree with Peter on loving the conveniences of city living. It is beautiful driving thru the rural parts but the racism there is no joke. And being gay is a big no no there. In the city your fine but be careful going back roads please. Good old boy cops see your out of state tags. I moved to Florida 15 years ago to get away from the cold weather. It snows there but basically turns to black ice. Lots of great things to do in Tennessee for when you go back since I grew up and traveled all over the state. And I can give you tips on St Petersburg where i live now. There are some great spots to park the van along the water to get to see dolphins and manatees. I keep a list of things to do here bc I have an airbnb and let guests know where to go. You live and you learn as far as life on the road. Binge a few vanlifers channels. They are so informative. There are some cool pop up shade tents that you can use indoors as a play pen to keep Aiden contained but I feel like the days of keeping him in one spot are all but over. The pop up tent will be fun to have him outside while yoir grillin or setting up campsite. A collapsing beach wagon is a great item too. You csn use it for lots of stuff like carrying off trash, or farmers market runs etc. Camping hacks are a rabbit hole but when you check them out youll find some to be real life savers. Did y'all try hot chicken in Nashville? Or ribs/bbq in Memphis? Tops bbq in Memphis is my favorite sandwiches. Rendezvous for ribs. Also maybe check out festivals as you travel such as Florida has the strawberry festival, in may memphis has bbq festival. Those kind are fun bc there are food trucks, rides and music. Johns pass Madiera beach has a seafood festival on oct, november treasure island has a sand sculpture festival but Clearwater has thiers in January. In Nashville the opryland hotel has millions of Christmas lights/decor and ice skating area set up. It is very beautiful with waterfallls and fountains, piano playing to holiday music, the opry mills mall is next door with tons of cool shopping. Tennessee has lots of caves and water falls to explore. Fall creek falls. Jack Daniels distillery. People always talk about Gatlinburg but Chattanooga is a great city too. Huge 2 building aquarium, incline railway, see 7 states from up on the mountain, ruby falls etc. Next road trip and Aiden is gonna be running. Im glad you didn't have any real mechanical issues and you made it home to your own bed ok. Travelling is fun but nothing like your own big bed & shower & set Aiden down on the floor.
I’m from and have lived in Kentucky my whole life and you are 100% correct! There are cops here that would turn their backs and pretend they didn’t see a thing! Like you said, in town unless it’s super small, you’re fine but stay off the back roads!😢

You definitely need to spend more time (that needs to be well planned; understanding the high desert/high altitude differences for the vehicle and your bodies).

And Peter I have definitely detected that Canadian accent, especially when you talk about “life on the road” 😂 (it’s words like road with o’s in them that it’s noticeable) 😂😂 Anyways, love this!! I think it rains a lot in Nashville, but maybe not as much as Knoxville (east Tennessee). Seemed like it rained at least once or twice a week in Knoxville, while I attended UT.
