This and Whistle were their first two releases in 2016. They worked and trained together, beginning in their mid-teens, for 13 to 15 hours a day, six days a week, for four years, not knowing if YG Entertainment would even give them a debut as a group. So, they've actually been together for going on 12 years.
There's Black Pink, then there's K-Pop, in that order. Period.
BP was the first female Korean group to be the headliners at Coachella, in 2023. A couple of their songs have over a billion views here on YT, with many others in the multiple million of views.
In their music videos it's difficult to see how talented they are at dancing, but they have a few dance performance videos here that really show their dancing skills.
Oh, yes, the past couple of years each have released some solo work. Jisoo has "Flower" and Lisa has "Lalisa" and another one, plus she has a few solo dance M/V's. Rose and Jenni each have at least one M/V but I can't recall the names.
To answer your question about solo music. Yes, all of them got solo songs and we'll finally get more this year! YG, their label, really hold them back. So it's like two songs each right now. But they parted ways with YG regarding solo projects a few months ago and can now do what they want, almost all of them are now CEO of their own label for their solo careers. YG only has control over Blackpink as a band from now on

Good reaction. Welcome to the Blackpink Universe, it is a very happy place. Each Blackpink member has more than one solo song. Just FYI, Jisoo was the last to solo, and her album holds the all-time record for sales by a solo Kpop female, and her music video (Flower) has the most TH-cam views in 2023 by any Kpop act (male or female, group or solo). But all of their solo's are great, and you will probably like Jennie's or Lisa's more since they have rap verses, but Rose's are awesome too (all English). BTW, you are starting at a good place since this is one of their two debut songs. The other is Whistle, which has a completely different vibe, but a favorite of the fandom. These 2 songs will give you a good sense of the main 2 themes of BP, Black (bad-ass chicks, rapping hard, singing empowering lyrics) and Pink (more emotional, gentler/kinder side).
I absolutely love BLACKPINK. Have been watching them since the beginning. Jenny is absolute bias and one of my favorite female rappers. You definitely need to react to more of the modern stuff..

Boombayah was released 9 years ago in 2016. It's their first song and Whistle was the second song at the same year. It's their first no.1 entries on Korean Digital Chart and US Billboard World Digital Chart as well. Black Pink is the most famous girl group in Korea since then and considered the most successful Korean girl group internationally after performing at Coachella in 2019. So I'm wonderig why you've waited for so many years to explore their music if you're an all type music lover.

Interesting. I was not expecting kpop. I have to recommend Dreamcatcher (my fav group by far). They do way too much genres. But their main focus is rock/metal. But they are part of the kpop industry. Their story is really interesting and their music, dance and voices are excelent.
The agency that manages them is YG Entertainment
Currently this label only manages them as a group.
Almost all of them already have their own label for their solo projects
JENNIE was the first to launch her personal label called OA (ODD ATELIER)
Then LISA with her label called LLOUD and JISOO with her label called BLISSOO, and the last member who is ROSÉ it is not yet known when she will launch her label.

Boombayah is, I believe, the best song they do. One reason is that I feel they are enjoying themselves. I watched four if their live performances and Boombayah and they were excellent. HIgh energy, good stage presence, excellent vocals, and again a feeling of enjoyment. As a minor point the 2021 live performance had less energy but still excellent.

This is one of Blackpink's debut songs from 2016 (they debuted in August 2016 with the singles Boombayah and Whistle). Almost 8 years ago. It's crazy how far they've come. They are really amazing. Not one bad song in their discography, also a lot of different styles. This counts for the group songs and the members solo music. Please react to more of their stuff!

This is my favorite Blackpink song, but I long for them to get back to what made them great as I haven't cared for more than a few b sides after Kill This Love came out. "Du-ddu Du-ddu was average, but then Kill This Love ruined it for me. Listen to their first two years as it was fire.

Try G-Idle, XG, soloists BiBi and Somi. All 4 BlackPink members have solo songs that would rock your world. BlackPinks agency, YG entertainment, is debuting a new younger 5th gen sister group with 7 members. They are dropping their first mini album 4-1-24. One of the new songs "Sheesh" was given to them by Charlie Puth. They are getting a lot of hype right now if you want to see your views skyrocket. Maybe try their 2 pre-debut songs "Stuck in the Middle" or "Batter Up". All 7 members are extraordinary vocalists.
