    I used to live in cycle around the Rossendale area 40 years ago, I now live in the Settle area in North Yorkshire. Rossendale traffic was much calmer when I first lived there, a bit like the Dales (and the forest of Bowland) is now. still, it was a fantastic look down memory lane for me. If the Dales at my door step wasn't so great for cyclists, I'd be tempted to come back and ride that part of Lancashire again.

      Hi there. Must admit, I love the Dales and find myself always going back there for more.
      I was introduced to Settle and so many other places as a school boy rider with Todmorden Wheelers.

      @@MrDazP1adv3ntures yes and you should be so proud of doing what you did that day. It amazes me how, after a downfall of snow in the last couple of days, schools shut because kids can't walk safely to school etc. and yet you just got on with it in weather like you had. Proper British spirit unlike the dross and literal snowflakes we have growing up these days. I mean I wouldn't have gone out in what you did but I did manage to drag myself in to work yesterday and today in all the snow and I will be out on my bike this weekend. Keep the videos coming.

    Crown Point road up from the A646 I think is one of the UK’s top 100 or 200 climbs. I’m sure you enjoyed going down it 😜 shame about the weather as the view from the singing ringing tree is magnificent on a clear day - mind you all the route you took is! The wall on Edenfield Road below where the feed station was - is testimony to show how easy it is for speeding drivers to miss that bend when it’s dark, icy or wet or foggy or all of the above. Take care…. 🚴‍♂️

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes the Crown Point road is fantastic and it should be right up there on any list in my opinion.
      I descended down towards the New Waggoners Inn road which is a mighty fast section !
      We are so blessed to have all of this on our doorstep.
      It sounds like you know the area really well.
      In Summer, I can cover this range of hills and then take on a few more towards Tod and Hebden and before you know it, you have done over 6000ft in elevation 🚲👍

      Well, it was below freezing on my commute this morning at 6am and it remained like that until about 2pm where it warmed up to 2 degrees c.
      Question, do you miss it over here with the seasons?
      I know Melbourne has 4 seasons in 1 day. I've been there
      Tonight
      I went home via Bacup and Sharneyford this evening.

Our summers are generally much hotter than yours, sometimes really hot (like today) and our winters would be mild by your reckoning -- I can start a ride at 6.30am and it could be 6C and the morning would warm up to 12C and we don"t get the snow and ice.

      Zwift definitely has a place now for the 21st century cyclist though I must admit.
      On that bike in poor weather I average 13mph and it's tough going.
      I have Zwift mates who do rides at crazy average speeds and clock up the miles way quicker than I do out on the road.
      But yes, All going well , I will no doubt be in Whalley at some point as it's the gateway to so many places with good roads.

      I'm with you there 👍 The wind plays a big part as to how the ride goes in this area OMG it is hilly !
      I'd look at chuncking the Rake down into sections if possible. It does offer some respite before the final push.

    Hey Sparticus, just tell us again what gearing you use, I didn't catch it?? was it a 1x11 42, with a 11-30 cassette?

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It's 1x11 with a 42 on the front and an 11x30 on the back but I'd prefer an 11x32.
      What do you use Black Pudding man,
      Please do tell ....
