- Severe storms and tornadoes in Tennessee left at least six people dead on Saturday (December 9) and caused what local emergency services described as extensive damage with tens of thousands of residents without power.
One tornado was caught on video by an eyewitness as it moved over Madison. The tornado caused electrical flashes and an explosion.
"At this time we can confirm that three people are deceased, two adults and one child as a result of the tornado that touched down this afternoon. Additionally, 23 people have been treated at the hospital," the Montgomery County in Tennessee said on its Facebook page.
Three more deaths were reported in the suburbs of Nashville, the Nashville Office of Emergency Management said on X, formerly called Twitter.
More than 80,000 people in Tennessee were left without power as of Saturday evening, according to outage tracking website poweroutage.us.

Struck a substation. That’s the explosion you see. NES was working it for days had to turn switches to redirect power from other areas while station was down.
Mother nature at her best 👍🙏
It's not hard to stay out of Tornado Alley
Tn wasn't in tornado alley but it's shifting east
@@canibaloxide Look up Dixie alley. Our country actually has two tornado hot zones.
Exactly two years ago an F1 hit our house, and this one was just a mile or two north. I think it's a new tornado alley, lol
@@prattacaster LOL You people need to do some more research on it, especially as i mention on the term Dixie alley. I lived in around TN since the late 90's, and remember there being tornado outbreaks time to time that far back too.
@@KenKen-ui4ny Sure, but the frequency seems to be increasing, I find myself in the basement bunker more these days. I've been in Nashville for 17 years and have had around 16 tornadoes touch within 5 miles of my residence.
The lights on the cars and from the fire even went out ? That’s no tornado
So crazy idea: the cars weren’t on. And wind has this funny little tendency to blow things, and fire doesn’t like being blown at hundereds of miles an hour
🙏🙏🙏
Nah that low key looked like a DEW
They are called tornadoes
What’s a DEW?
@danevertt3210 a noise that comes out of a conspiracy theory nuts mouth.
Bro yall say this whenever a natural disaster happens ☠️
Looks like they stuck a power grid in a bad spot. All it was
The world has changed
