the slip is apparently how the nether was originally called in dev builds
All the way back when the Nether was first added, it was briefly called 'The Slip' and the portal was named the 'Slip Gate'.

Others mentioned that the Nether was called the Slip in earlier builds, and if I recall, it was named that because of the distance you moved in the Nether was shorter compared to the overworld, basically like how it is normally.
That’s insane. I’ve been playing Minecraft pretty much since its debut in 2011, and even I didn’t know that.
The ending was something straight out of a horror movie.

wow that end sequence was really cool, especially with the end with all the glass breaking as it got inside. This is definitely one of my favorite horror modpacks now, a lot of tension building with horror thats a lot more subtle. 10/10 experience
The nether was initially called 'The Slip' because Notch is/was a big fan of Quake 1, also a reason why it says 'Quake Pro' when you max your fov out
By far the scariest thing this video was the sneezing then hearing him yell, made me jump out of my skin.
