2016 was the year of Jakes attempt which in turn started the band in 2017. Lo did start doing covers on TikTok but his original music is great! Would love to see some Lo reactions! Thanks so much for taking the time to react! 🧡

@@Newova the napkin comment in the song refers to the song Jake wrote "Let It Burn" it was there first song they put out I believe and its worth a listen.

I feel like jake's voice is the outside voice the voice people hear then you hear lo's voice which it the voice inside your head the one that is rough and beaten where the war is but is still fighting.
2016 was when Jake Segura (lead vocalist of the band) wrote the lyrics of the song Let it Burn which would be the bands first song. He did so on the back of a napkin in a psych ward after having attempted to commit suicide. So what he’s basically talking about is how that moment of coming face to face with death along with writing the song and forming the band changed his life as he went on to find new purpose and direction in both music and in using his music to help bring awareness and support to other people like him who have suffered from issues with mental health.
damn, the song (let it burn) already makes me cry, this just adds another lever that I didn't even know about.

I know how it feels to be pushed so far. I have 11 disabilities, didn't always have 11, i had 2 but at 19yo the worst of them, polymyositis, popped up. It's very rare at 4/250,000 and is autoimmune, targeting all muscles, even the heart, diaphragm and such, but thank The LORD it hasn't affected mine which, having had this as long as i have, is quite strange... with time i ended up going from very strong & active to the present at 35yo unable to roll my wheelchair, i can walk technically but it's very dangerous as i can only go for 2-5sec before my legs go "nope, I'm out" & i crash to the floor with no way to stand or drag myself.
I am on opiates for the pain, 1 of which is 100mcg Fentanyl patches. Years back I'd been using a very very dangerous medication I'd recommend to STAY AWAY from, that drug is "Carisoprodol" aka Soma. I'm just 5'2" though i was 5'3" before my spine was damaged lol. I don't mind jokes. Now 1 day stepdad attempted to take his life with his own Carisoprodol prescription, taking 20 pills at once which came EXTREMELY close to stopping his breathing. When he'd recovered i slapped him as hard as my weak body could & shouted at him to never do that since it'd destroy mom.
He was 5'10" & had made great progress with his weight loss prior to cancer killing him (just like dad...) but back then he was uhh... heavy, 400lbs... so compare his 5'10" and 400lbs to my 5'2" and 110lbs (was 180lbs of muscle before polymyositis) yet 20 soma almost killed him while hypocritical me took 20 in an attempt &... nothin. I also drank 4 gallons of rum every week due to, at the time, the fact that i didn't get enough opiates to help. I'd even take pills with it. Didn't kill me. I don't know WHY i don't die, maybe The LORD just won't let it happen.
2 things have kept me from taking my life after that attempt failed. 1 is my mom, she lost 2 husbands and her first boyfriend in the late 60s was murdered by his "friend" and dumped in a lake. I REFUSE to add myself to that list. 2nd thing is because I'm a Christian & i don't want to make Christians look week nor do i want to disappoint The LORD.
So now I'm gonna fight everything & enjoy it, no more running away.

Edit: and as you probably guessed it is about them both reaching their limit, jakes in 2016 as he mentioned at the start
Edit 2.0: last thing, I believe Lo spirit helped to produce citizen soldier's newest album scarecrow (18 songs btw!) and is being released this Wednesday i believe, so yea
I've been following Citizen Soldier for about a year now and they definitely a good band to get into.
Actually closer to two years, time doesn't feel like it used to.

Citizen Soldier was born in 2016 when frontman Jake Segura penned the lyrics to “Let It Burn” from a psychiatric hospital. Now practicing as a clinical therapist, he implements intensely emotional lyrical themes on mental health into their music.

So Friday night 🌙 I got to see Citizen Soldier and Royal Bliss at the Depot in Salt Lake. Best concert I have ever bin to music videos are great but nothing compares to a live show ❤❤❤
