The company I work for are currently migrating off MPLS to a PaloAlto Prisma SASE solution right now in 2022. I and a POC user testing remote connectivity using PA Global Protect. So far so good.
Another great video by Mr. Murphy. Short and to the point. High level but still enough information for me to understand the basics of SASE so I don’t feel lost during the meetings. Thank you,
Hi Steve-Time stamp 5:57, the diagrammatic representation- Today's Network ............. on the right side of the screen could you please help me complete this, as this is not clearly visible due to video tile. Also could you please differentiate between SASE vs SSE if possible in your next video.
Hi Steve , Can you elaborate little bit more about SASE and SD-WAN combination. How and in which scenarios we can combine them or whether should it be combine ?
Hi. Sure. SD-WAN is an integral part of the SASE framework, but we need to understand the two different sides of SASE - managed network and managed security. SD-WAN provides traffic prioritization, management and visibility on your network connections. SD-WAN also typically replaces the corporate firewalls where deployed. Your SASE managed network firewall that supports the remote end-users and your SD-WAN firewall governance need to be synced. SASE (when using a single vendor) unifies the firewall rule-set between SD-WAN and remote users. This unification prevents gaps from forming between the two services. Gaps = risk. I hope that helps.
Nice Video Steve. As a CSP where can I play a role on the SASE story if I want to build an offering to Corporate customers. Given we tend to be on the NAAS side of the stack away from the Customer, do you see SP's being able to provide a differentiated offering to customers? Is there a value in pulling a joint solution with a Secure edge offering from a Security provider to make this a viable turn key solution?
Hello Sriram, Under the service model of a CSP, which I am assuming stands for Cloud Service Provider, you have an opportunity to provide anything cloud-based. If addressing an expansive definition of CSP is consistent with your strategy, then "Yes", a great way to get into the end-user cloud security space through SASE is to partner with an existing SASE provider. I could suggest a few if I knew more about your situation. Feel free to reach out to me using the contact info in the video description. Best, Steve
@@steve_murphy1 Sorry Steve. I should have been more clear. I meant a communications service provider. I will reach out to you. Keen to pick your brains.
The big hardware providers & carriers will market SASE as if they are providing you something new. When really they are just combining the products they already sell with their in house management laid on top. There are a few real SASE providers that are cloud native and provide a truly uniform security posture while providing a network as a service.
Correct, Joel. SASE is not new. What is new is the consolidation of services into one offering. The carrier will package their existing tools to do this, but if history is any guide, it will be clunky. Thanks for commenting! Best, Steve
Great simple to the point explanation with no vendor bias or hype. Thanks !
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for commenting! Best, Steve
Spot on Steve!..Liked the way you walked thru. Choose your Roadmap, not the Gartner's Roadmap !, that says it all. Thx for a lucid talk.
Thanks very much! Best, Steve

Much appreciated, Travis! Thanks very much!
Great explanation overall. Noticed a typo error - 'pain of glass' should have been 'pane of glass".
Oops! Thanks very much for letting me know! Best, Steve
Great simple overview with diagrams that helps digesting the topic.

Precise and Well Explained Steve ! Guess this framework will be valid for next decade.
I believe so. It's a flexible framework that has space to evolve with the threat landscape. Best Regards, Steve

Good info, and just minor correction, it is single pane of glass (not single pain of glass)
Yes - Thanks. Can't fix that now though!
Very well explained. Just wondering if SASE journey can also integrate the Email security as well.
Sent a personal email.
