I liuke the one at 2:32 to 2:40, still looks like a Mustang, even the paint. I love the sound of a big ol' V12 singing away. :P It';s wierd seeing all the mods on these planes; can't hardly recognize 'em! Can you still BUY Merlins or V-1650's, or do you use old surplus blocks. They must make spare parts, etc? And are the engines modified for more HP or anything? I always wondered that.
These planes are possibly the fastest piston engine plane ive seen yet. V12 engine crankin out 1,500 horsepower, a maximum altitude of 41,000ft, and has a max speed of 440mph and on a nose dive this bird will even hit speeds up to 500mph. the P 51s are no joke
Common misconception but not true. The P-38 due to it's boom tail suffered from something known as compressibility. The P-38 was the first plane to experience this and pilots thought they were coming close, or breaking the sound barrier.
THANKS for not having any music. The sound of that big V12 is the only music this video needs !!!!
This is the sound of Reno...All - American V12Beautiful sounding machines.
there aint nothing like the sounds of a p-51.. great vid!
best music ive ever herd
The sound is awsome!
Nice Video - you haven't seen anything until you see 5 of these Mustangs in a steep turn around a pylon going 450 100' off the ground

the twin prop sounds cool @ 1:37 to 1:50
The Mustang used the Packard Merlin, built under license from Rolls Royce. Built in Detroit.
do you remember the persons name with the turbo prop?
Thank u for not putting on some music. The engine sound are music enough. :)
love the sound of the original Merlin Engine SOOO much more than these supercharged racing engines.
they should make those p51s back in war colors
Sound off music :D

crazy!
British designed engine!!
Rustyrivet250 Lol
Rustyrivet250 P51A had an American made Allison engine of inferior performance. The Army converted them to dive bombers
I know, that's why you commented in the first place. :)
@basser41609 Rolls Royce Griffon 57 engine.
Rolls Royce Merlin sounds WAY better.
