Agreed. I don't care how similar it is to the wrath of kahn soundtrack, when. You listen to it you know exactly what movie it's from. That's all I care about. It's so badass!!!
Couldn't agree more, this movie is LEGIT, absolutely LOVE it and this scene always makes me grin like a fool (just like them, the expression of pure joy on their faces as they're riding the fire mares, wicked cool). Only later in life did I realize one of the riders is Liam Neeson! Whoa *mind blown*
I listened and thought "This reminds me of Enterprise Leaving Spacedock from Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan." Then I did a little research, same composer, James Horner.
At 0:28 a horse nearly stumbles on the tread mill and the actor looks down in concern but plays it off. This was filmed with the horses on a tread mill with a blue screen background of course, I find this scene amazing and fun, Liam nursing’s, and the wizard nearly falling of the horse, and the guy from braveheart.
By far the best scene in this movie! The horses are gorgeous and the musical score is phenomenal. I loved watching this movie growing up and I really wish I owned it.
A marvelous choice in the music at 1:10. Instead of going to a big crescendo as they leave the ground, the music actually softens a bit. The lighter and airier feeling it takes on suits the moment of lifting into flight perfectly in this case.
BADASS.. just the music in this film alone is INSANELY BRILLIANT. Hopefully this will come to 4k Uhd . Childhood favorite along with The Last Starfighter and Dragonslayer
Krull (1983) was one of the best post-Star Wars "rescue the princess" fantasy sci-fi movies, combined with Willow (1988). Some rudimentary special effects, but both great story telling. Well worth a rainy Sunday afternoon double-feature. The Lord of the Rings trilogy owes a lot to these movies. Oh, and love that when they die, slayers and changelings say "EEEEEEEEEE!!!"
This movie holds a very special place in my heart and childhood. I LOVE everything about this scene! Can't help but grin like a fool along with them :D pure joy! GOD DAMN FIRE MARES!!! Wicked cool. I was able to get my hands on a CD of the original soundtrack and I own this on Blu Ray! heard rumors about a remake, I hope they don't! This is perfection!
I hope they don't do a remake of this Film, I like this one just fine, I hope they learned their lesson with the remake of Clash Of The Titans, lots of action and CGI special effects, but trash when it came to the storytelling part.
James, "So what's the scene for this music I'm doing for you?" Producers/Director, "Well, the gang are travelling about 500 mph on a pack of blazing stallions, and then suddenly they go off a cliff edge, but then they start to fly." James, "Hmmm...so they have wings?" Producer s/Director, "No." James, "Hmmm...hmmm...okay I think I got it!"
The music fits so perfectly that I've often imagined this very discussion! That and another from James Horner's early days: James: "So this is a Star Trek movie? So a space theme?" Director: "Yes, but I want to play up the nautical aspect of it. Star Fleet is essentially the Navy in space. The battles will be like classic navel ship battles." James: "Okay, I got this." Seriously go and Listen to the soundtrack to Wrath of Khan, it could totally be the soundtrack to Master and Commander or some other seafaring movie! James Horner was really good at matching the feel of the movies!
It was a great decision to make the music softer and smoother once the mares took flight, instead of ramping it up even more. The lightness in the score mirrors how they must feel flying through the air. Very astute choice by Horner and the filmmakers.
I know that now look very "unreal" but in that time was AWESOME...I remember to see this movie 2 times in theaters...I love this movie and i glad i not the only one...
"Krull" often transcended its modest production values in scenes of pure wonder, often in large measure thanks to Horner's astonishing music... and nowhere better than here. I can't think of ten scenes in fantasy films more beautiful than that distant view of our heroes and the horses trailing flames into the sky.
I see this film only one time, i was about 6 years old, and i only remember the horses of fire, i search it about 34 years now i find it, is like a timetravel...
This and many other fantasy movies bring me fond memories of tabletop gaming with friends I grew a part over the years and now I'm a whole continent away. The late 90s and early 2000s were more than the end of a millennium, they were truly the end of an era.
The whole movie felt like a adaptation of a D&D game especially this part. Players so how are we going to reach the castle. DM......ERRRRR magic fire horses
Not only are those Fire Mares fast, they got one of the smoothest gates I've ever seen when they get going. Its like the Bugatti combined with Cadillac of horses that can fly.
"I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career and oh I ride fire mares", "OK, you win, we will drop your daughter and friend off"
Excelente película!, lástima que muchos no valoran estos filmes, ricas en aventuras, excelentes actuaciones y no necesitan tanta computadora cómo las de ahora.👌👍👏😉
I've said it before and I'll say it again, one of the most underrated soundtracks in the history of film!
Was hard but I was able to get a CD of the soundtrack! One of my most prized possessions!
damn right
From Algeria ...the same feeling
@Wankshaftsbury most definitely!
Agreed. I don't care how similar it is to the wrath of kahn soundtrack, when. You listen to it you know exactly what movie it's from. That's all I care about. It's so badass!!!
Tears came to my eyes... My childhood... Playing with some old friends that I don't see for a long time... One of the best scene I've ever seen...
Spam
When those horns blast in amidst a trail of flame, so good.
One of the best adventures of my childhood. This movie will never get old to me.
Even with the outdated effects, still one of the best scenes I have from my childhood memories. And the soundtrack is AMAZING! :)
Is it me, or do the outdated effects somehow make this scene BETTER?
I listened and thought "This reminds me of Enterprise Leaving Spacedock from Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan." Then I did a little research, same composer, James Horner.
YEAH HOO HOO!!
Robert Peterson not that much to me.
The wide shots with the streaks of flame in the distance is great. What a soundtrack. I need to watch this movie again.
I've never seen Liam Neeson having so much fun before.
This was before he got full of himself.
This was before he developed a particular set of skills...
This was before his daughter was 😎 “Taken”.
Krull is one of the best films ever made and I won't be told otherwise
By far the best scene in this movie! The horses are gorgeous and the musical score is phenomenal. I loved watching this movie growing up and I really wish I owned it.
It's available now on Blu Ray!
Yes I know! I have yet to buy it but I definitely want to this year
You won't regret it!
I know! Lol
mares, not horses
Having ridden a Clydesdale at gallop, I can confirm it is as awesome as it looks!
Great music. This entire firemare sequence went on absurdly long though, from catching them to riding them.
This is one of my favourite childhood scenes ever! RIP James Horner what a magic maker.
A marvelous choice in the music at 1:10. Instead of going to a big crescendo as they leave the ground, the music actually softens a bit. The lighter and airier feeling it takes on suits the moment of lifting into flight perfectly in this case.
Just watched this today with my 15 & 12yr old daughters with a few other favorites from my childhood....just as I remember....chills.
I don't care what people say about this movie, this scene is great!
It's soo darn awesome 😁
I agree! 😃
From Algeria إحساس متبادل👍👍😷
You can see how it inspired some of the wide sweeping terrain shots in the lord of the rings. Beautiful movie
totally agree
This movie was ahead of its time. very original. I’m hoping for a remake
That whole scene gets my blood pumping.
Great special effects for the time. Very underrated movie.
BADASS.. just the music in this film alone is INSANELY BRILLIANT. Hopefully this will come to 4k Uhd . Childhood favorite along with The Last Starfighter and Dragonslayer
You're right about the music, Horner must have had been exceptionally inspired to write such a awesome score!
Why the 80's were the best movies
Right? So lucky to be an 80s child!
From Algeria me too
@@youcefbenz6224 From Poland me too
most satisfying scene in this movie
A personal favorite scene! And the score is brilliant!
The happiest people you'll ever find in front of a blue screen anywhere.
This movie is still awesome.
And I geeked out like crazy when the Starblade was used in Ready Player One.
Easily one of the coolest scenes to ever be seen in a fantasy film (that and the swamp battle).
There are also elements of the Alien theme in the soundtrack, most likely cause James Horner is cool like that.

Same bro
Saw this in the theatre the year it came out. Still one of my all time fave movies.
This soundtrack is even better than the original Star Wars.
And to top it off, we have James Horner going completely nuts. Amazing score.
James, "So what's the scene for this music I'm doing for you?"
Producers/Director, "Well, the gang are travelling about 500 mph on a pack of blazing stallions, and then suddenly they go off a cliff edge, but then they start to fly."
James, "Hmmm...so they have wings?"
Producer s/Director, "No."
James, "Hmmm...hmmm...okay I think I got it!"
+fk stalkers These are MARES, not stallions! These are Krull's firemares.
no need for wings
The music fits so perfectly that I've often imagined this very discussion! That and another from James Horner's early days:

Actually, about 125 mph would have been fast enough. 2500 miles (1000 leagues) for twenty hours. Wow. Talk about saddle sores.
I love this movie since I saw the first time when I was a kid
Such an underrated production. Music, theme, story line, acting, special effects, the whole thing.
I know that now look very "unreal" but in that time was AWESOME...I remember to see this movie 2 times in theaters...I love this movie and i glad i not the only one...
James Horner made this scene magical
"Krull" often transcended its modest production values in scenes of pure wonder, often in large measure thanks to Horner's astonishing music... and nowhere better than here. I can't think of ten scenes in fantasy films more beautiful than that distant view of our heroes and the horses trailing flames into the sky.
I just watched this on PlutoTv, and I honestly went in expecting a cheesy b-movie, but it was fantastic! It's a really fun Sword & Planet fairy tale!
one of the most underrated films ever
My parents still have the 80’s VHS of this movie that me and my brothers used to watch.
Never sell it.
I have a Dragonslayer VHS, never even been in VCR, wheels ans film unturned.
1:11 still gives me chills. What a timeless gorgeous fantasy soundtrack. Still love this movie. Nobody did fantasy films like they did in the 80s. 🥰
"The grey is the leader!" :')
I see this film only one time, i was about 6 years old, and i only remember the horses of fire, i search it about 34 years now i find it, is like a timetravel...
The PLUTO TV app has this available to stream for free, just a heads up.
they don't make them like they used to anymore
Oh they will one day... I should know.
"Firemares!, Firemares can ride a thousand leagues in a day."
Liam Neeson was using his jedi force powers to make them fly
Merece um remake poderoso mas sem perder a essência do filme!!!
awesome sound track, the best part of the movie. I was a 80's kid, watching it in 1983 made my year then. I hope for a remake but not a carbon copy
I just love this music, that's totally beyond exciting!
Still better than the horses in Rise of Skywalker.
Best scene of the whole movie
“I think you need a *Big Black One.”* (speaking of a horse.)
“… they leave everything else behind….”
Come on who wouldn't an effing firemare....my god I got goosebumps from watching this video!
I still get them to this day! I grin like a fool with this scene, just like they do! :D
This is a great movie I recommend you watch it
"Course heading, captain?"
"Oh, captain's discretion."
"Mr. Sulu, you may indulge yourself."
"Aye, sir!"
This and many other fantasy movies bring me fond memories of tabletop gaming with friends I grew a part over the years and now I'm a whole continent away. The late 90s and early 2000s were more than the end of a millennium, they were truly the end of an era.
When James Horner come from another planet, beautifull track
I've seen this movie more than 30 times in the 80s... when it was showing in the locals theathers, every sunday 14:00h...
That's why the soundtrack for movies like Star Trek The Wrath Of Khan are awesome as well!
When Liam Neeson wasn’t famous:( but still best scene in the movie
Good theme music can make a world of difference! The film was certainly helped further by outstanding outdoor scenes.
This seen is so amazing. Amazing concept... and then they starts to fly like Santa....
The whole movie felt like a adaptation of a D&D game especially this part.
Players so how are we going to reach the castle.
DM......ERRRRR magic fire horses
I don't care what none y'all say, this movie was awesome.
Not only are those Fire Mares fast, they got one of the smoothest gates I've ever seen when they get going. Its like the Bugatti combined with Cadillac of horses that can fly.
Just "WOW" !
Excelente filme !
Esse filme merece um remake!
Maaaaaan this movie is a classic!!! Amazon sold the Glaive years ago and I missed out
Favorite part of the movie.
epic fire creating supersonic racehorses!!! Love this scene!
One of the most epic moments in cinematic history. Flying horses
Best soundtrack
Woah, they see for the first time their homeworld' s surface! Amazing!!
Best part of the movie :D
1:47 - Man: 'I MUST LOOK GRIM AND DETERMINED! Horse: '... S'alright, this.'
I dont care what anyone says, this movie rocked when I was kid, and still does.
Soundtrack on point
The Best Movie.✌😎📹
0:21 Well the wheat harvest sure is looking good this year... OH GODDAMNIT! YOU GODDAMN FIRE MARES! GET OUTTA MY WHEAT FIELD!
One man's love the safest planet from invasion save his princess that was kidnapped
My Favourite scene,I love Horses 🐎
Only a mad man will get close to the iron tower. We are going a lot closer
This the best horse scene in movies
If the Fellowship of the Ring had firemares, the journey would be over in an afternoon.
Because of this movie, I learned about Clydesdales as a kid.
"Ah, they're going to burn up the tracks!!" -Misty from Pokemon. 😅
LETS RIDE!!!
Que recordação maravilhosa me faz voltar a minha infância um excelente filme parabéns pelo clip ☄️🌑💫
Great scene accompanied by great music.
