    Ironically, WYNY at that time was an NBC-owned radio station (alongside 66 WNBC). A few years later, when the company decided to spin off its radio operations, the NYC stations went to Emmis. Perhaps more ironically, while still under NBC ownership, WYNY flipped to Country in response to Emmis-owned WHN dropping the format; the new format there was Sports, as the original home of WFAN, which soon would migrate to the former WNBC.
