Ah, I didn't notice that before! Just looked at a BBC website article from 2019 about Mansa Musa now and the BBC article says that predecessor was his brother, who was ruler of the kingdom prior to abdicating and going on his voyage.

Scru is a great rapper and an excellent person to watch if you want a more lyrical breakdown than a historical breakdown. He focuses on the 'battle rap' aspect of it and their delivery. In other music videos, he'll break down cadences, explain lyrics to those who won't catch or get it. Etc. Scru Face is just a dope ass dude for real lol
just in case it flew over some people's heads, the latter part of mansa musas second verse where he talks about where bezos come from is a reference to the movie "8 mile"
Both had good lines with bite on the delivery, but Mansa Musa came in with RECIEPTS! I didn't even know Bezos changed his name! Not to mention throwing in a ton of funny lines with the aggressive ones
I feel like any line where you say Effectively “I don’t know enough about you to diss you” backs you into a corner lyrically. It’s kind of hard for Bezos to get equally as personal and specific if he allegedly knows nothing about his opponent because at that point any ultra specific reference would be admiring to his opponent being more noteworthy
Mansa Musa the richest man ever to exist. And I've only just learned about him. They say his slaves had more gold and jewels on them than the rich people they came across on his journey
I felt like a lot of people didn’t give Jeff Bezos enough credit in this battle based on a lot of the reactions and comments I have seen. While I still felt the Mansa Musa was the overall winner especially because I thought he was more consistent and had the better flow, I actually thought Bezos had more deep cuts. His accidentally killing his mom, inflation of the economy, and the predecessor that died lines were deep cuts in my opinion. I also thought the milliravi line was very clever. Although, I do agree that Bezos did a lot of bragging, for me personally it added a lot to the character but it still in terms of winning a rap battle affected his odds.
Oh dude no doubt. I don’t think anyone will see this as a Batman vs Sherlock Holmes battle. Bezos has ring presence out the ass. And he has very deep rooted bars but just not as much as Musa. For me I think the blue origin put it over for me. And the icing on top was the “allah mode” considering the setup he did for it. I will give Bezos his props tho. He did great.
Bezos did pretty well. But almost every line was a deep cut from Mansa. Al gore rhythm = algorithm, JB wouldn’t be successful without it (bars or otherwise) The stuff about ruining mom and pops are self explanatory. The 8 mile reference to his name, the “Peter pics” scandal, etc… The feed me Seymour lips was a great double, cause she does have some big ol lips but it also doubles into her running her mouth to her brother about the pics. The allah mode line was a great setup to a double, obviously the ice cream reference but also him “God Mode” serving Jeff Bezos Scru killed it. Lloyd/Bezos did better than people think I agree there
SFJ admitted he only knew the last verse of Lloyd so he could do his second part. He was and has down his own reaction and he wanted it genuine. He didn't know anything they were gonna do with the green screen... eh. Just watch his own reaction.
Yessir I've been waiting for this And mansa musa is played by scru face jean he is also a react channel he reacts to epic rap battles of history a lot and he was excited to play someone in this battle as you can see he never stops smiling he is also a rapper too
@@stitchowi Yeah he’s wrong about that, however SFJ demonstrated his only criticism of ERB heavily in this battle. The lyrics aren’t really for “battles” and use a lot of slick wordplay and writing instead of direct burns. “Leave that in the cypher” -SCJ compare their verses, SCJ directly attacked LLoyd while the other had a more rap-song based style
@@stitchowi Oh he certainly is, Godzilla VS King Kong ERB proves that they still have fire in them. But yeah the insult game on ERB varies from devastating to _"Bro just throw a fucking punch already"_
I think it was a thrashing, very heavily in Mansa Musa's favor. Bezos fought back, but he just had to go up against Scru and Scru is just too damn good
The guy who plays Mansa is Scru Face Jean, he has a TH-cam channel, you should check him out! He reacts to a lot of ERBs too, but looks at it from a more pure rap battle standpoint vs a history standpoint.
shoutout my boy Scru Face Jean, he played Mansa and it was a dream of his to be on ERB. He wrote all of his lines and delivered them perfectly. Love to see my boy get some recognition and love
People think that Musa won, I agree with them. However, you can't deny Lloyd's devilishly surface level yet complex bars. Unless you know about the logistics Amazon uses, its not gonna hit as hard. Plus Llyod went the dorky route meaning the nerd references along with sound effects to back him up really sells the Bezos vibe. It also gives him an arrogant confidence which works in some of the bars.
I think Musa took this easily. Each of his verses can be broken down into two narrative sections, where as Bezos' verses were just potpourri jokes/throwing things against the wall to see what sticks rather than anything
8-Mile film easter egg. B-Rabbit rap’s against Poppa Doc. “This guy’s a gangster? His real name’s Clarence” “Now let me really break it down because there's more to him He ain't a Bezos, his real name is Jorgensen”
Fun fact: While Mansa Musa was praised for his wealth all over the world, the local people and griots didn't hold him in high regards. They saw him as a foolish king who just gave gold away. Mansa Musa might be the most famous Mali king but most griots prefered Sundiata Keita.
Yesss please make more!!! Even though there are some not really history related (like the Harry Potter vs Luke Skywalker), I will still love to see your reaction😁
Speaking of universities, The backdrop for Mansa Musa is the University of Sankore. Also the actor for Mansa Musa is Scru Face, a youtube battle rapper who also reacts to ERB videos.
Mansa musa won easily his bars went deep into Bezos personal life and hit really hard. all Bezos did was talk about himself the entire time and how cool he is and about how good Amazon is which is kinda eh for me
But at the same time, Bezos didn't really lose because he just didn't acknowledge he was getting owned. Which is probably similar to how he operates normally.
@@ivboneheadvi He means Bezos even if he lost, wouldn't care since he's still a multimillionaire company and this battle was nothing of worth to him. That's how companies work, they don't care unless there is money involved.
Mansa's brother was Abrahim Musa and is noted the first man to discover America. This was known from the fact that the natives of america were found using gold tipped spears and gold wasn't generally used by the natives they usually used flints or stones. And the voyage after which Mansa's brother went missing this historical incident aligned with the Natives having gold tipped spears. It's now known that Abrahim upon reaching America offered the native leaders the golden spears as a token of friendship and while returning back he lost his life due to a storm in the ocean.
Just so people know, there's no actual evidence that Mansa Musa caused major inflation in Cairo: that only comes from one source, and the recorded prices of goods from the same time don't bear the remark out. That said, it's certainly possible that things like certain meats and spices saw their price increase temporarily, and people probably whined up a storm.
Scru is a student of the game, which is why his flow, delivery, and timing was so perfect. Bezos’ rounds were great, but Musa supplied a decisive ass whupping. I really wish it was more even.
Not only did Mansa Musa really opened Timbuktu as the learning center of the world for Islamic culture, when he went on his extravagant journeys to Mecca for pilgrimages, he would donate large sums of supplies and money to build education centers and even mosques across the entire North Africa cape in modern countries like Morocco, Libya, Egypt and even to the far east of the Middle East like Jordan and so on. Also, it was speculated that the way he brought that much gold to Cairo and basically tank the economy was his secondary objective in the 1st place. Cairo at that point has been the main source of gold "farming" and it's the biggest hub where gold was traded. Musa wanted people to visit Timbuktu and Gao to trade gold and thus while along the way, the only way he could do is toss as much gold as he had to the Egyptians, leave to Mecca and then come back to borrow at extremely high interest with extremely high amounts of gold to effectively flood the market to devalue it in one move then again wipe out existing stock totally which sank the value to practically nothing. Might seem like a dick move but that did cripple Egypt's economy massively.
No, no, Mr. Terry. You're not being biased. Mansa Musa definitely won that one! And Alexa is a bloody liar because of that. I suppose that Musa won because there are just so many more foibles and character flaws to Bezos, and Musa grabbed onto just about every one of them! On the other hand, Bezos' counters fell flat; you can't really slam a rich man for _spending_ and cycling that massive wealth back into the population, which is something that Bezos hasn't really done, as the abominable working conditions of his companies prove. (Bezos _could_ have gotten a leg up by mentioning the working conditions in Musa's mines, yes. But he didn't.)
Scru Face Jean is both a rapper and reactor as many people have stated already. Him and Epic Lloyd have worked on a couple things together before this. Scru has always wanted to be on an Epic Rap Battle and he is super happy he got a chance. He has a vlog on his channel that tracks his experiences. It's fantastic that he was able to do this. Oh and Mansa Musa smoked him, even if we ignore the bias.
So Lloyds first bar in the second verse spelled MILLIRAVI. Which others point out means a significant mathematical error of more than a million dollars or something. However BEFORE this. It was basically the headline of an internal counter report to an analysts article saying that amazon was going to fail. MILLIRAVI meant Meaningful Innovation Leads, Launches, Inspires Relentless Amazon Visitor Improvements
before i watched this battle for the first time when it came out i had to do a wiki search to find out a bit about mansa musa as i had never heard of him
One of the more commonly missed bars in the one was when Jeff said "Musa I'm Lyrically Lethal, I'm Relentlessly African Verse Immune". MILLIVARI has been used as the base of many acrostics at Amazon, used to signify that the topic currently under discussion was a mathematical or computational error of greater than $1 million. Nice Easter egg there
You should definitely check out the Watcher's Puppet History series, they present history topics in the form of a fun trivia game. Mansa Munsa won simply on the fact that his dises we're easier to understand. Thats a thing with these battles, when you don know much about either one, the person who has easier to relate dises wins.
thats too bad for you because i understood both sides and Bezos was actually on equal part, one or two heavy punches more on his side too what im saying here is that Bezos ultimately managed to come up on top if you can actually catch all the clever references such as Milliravi hidden in that line at 9:06
@@xGoodOldSmurfehx also one of the best lines by Bezos (at least when it comes to being universally understood) is just blatantly untrue. Mansa Musa refused to bow to the king of Cairo because he would only bow to God.

I'm loving all the SFJ love in the comments. I love his videos and he's taught me so much about rap.
just in case it flew over some people's heads, the latter part of mansa musas second verse where he talks about where bezos come from is a reference to the movie "8 mile"
Both had good lines with bite on the delivery, but Mansa Musa came in with RECIEPTS! I didn't even know Bezos changed his name! Not to mention throwing in a ton of funny lines with the aggressive ones
did you know about the mansa musa killing his mom
I feel like any line where you say Effectively “I don’t know enough about you to diss you” backs you into a corner lyrically. It’s kind of hard for Bezos to get equally as personal and specific if he allegedly knows nothing about his opponent because at that point any ultra specific reference would be admiring to his opponent being more noteworthy
Mansa Musa the richest man ever to exist. And I've only just learned about him. They say his slaves had more gold and jewels on them than the rich people they came across on his journey
Fr? The slaves were richer then some nobles 😂crazy
Oversimplfied NEWWWWWWWWWWWWW VIDDDDDDDDDDDDD AMAZINGGGGG
Al gore rhythm = algorithm, JB wouldn’t be successful without it (bars or otherwise)
The stuff about ruining mom and pops are self explanatory.
The 8 mile reference to his name, the “Peter pics” scandal, etc…
The feed me Seymour lips was a great double, cause she does have some big ol lips but it also doubles into her running her mouth to her brother about the pics.
The allah mode line was a great setup to a double, obviously the ice cream reference but also him “God Mode” serving Jeff Bezos
Scru killed it.
Yessir I've been waiting for this
And mansa musa is played by scru face jean he is also a react channel he reacts to epic rap battles of history a lot and he was excited to play someone in this battle as you can see he never stops smiling he is also a rapper too
It’s not fair to Lloyd though cause the guy that plays Musa, Scru Face Jean, a rapper and reactor has INSANE flow. 🤣
My boy scru went crazy on it tho!!! Dude definitly deserved to be on this ERB cuz he killed it
So Lloyd aint a rapper?
@@stitchowi Yeah he’s wrong about that, however SFJ demonstrated his only criticism of ERB heavily in this battle.
The lyrics aren’t really for “battles” and use a lot of slick wordplay and writing instead of direct burns. “Leave that in the cypher” -SCJ
compare their verses, SCJ directly attacked LLoyd while the other had a more rap-song based style
Scru is an actual battle-rapper and it shows.
Bezos fought back, but he just had to go up against Scru and Scru is just too damn good
Its Ironic that ERB lead me to this channel, but this time your channel lead me to this rap battle, it must've slipped under my radar.
🤙 SFJNATION 🙌 Scru Face Jean played Mansa Musa. He's a rapper amd a reactor as well 🔥🎵
Yup😊
THATS SCRU FACE MY GUY! YAY JEAN FINALLY MADE IT AND DID HIS THING!
GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS MR.TERRY. =)
been waiting for this one
The guy who plays Mansa is Scru Face Jean, he has a TH-cam channel, you should check him out! He reacts to a lot of ERBs too, but looks at it from a more pure rap battle standpoint vs a history standpoint.
Yo, I havent seen this channel in a few years, the glow up is crazy! Congratulations sir
Surprised you didn't talk about the accidentally killing his mom or the "dude who sailed before you"
shoutout my boy Scru Face Jean, he played Mansa and it was a dream of his to be on ERB.
His real name’s Clarence”
“Now let me really break it down because there's more to him
He ain't a Bezos, his real name is Jorgensen”
As soon as i saw ERB made this video I was like "ooo! I hope Mr. Terry will have a new video soon;)"
I was waiting for this mr terry
oversimplified just dropped a masterpiece
Oversimplified Released a new Video!!
The guy who played Mansa is @ScrufaceJean who actually is a rapper that did ERB reactions and they took notice and put him in one.
Fun fact: While Mansa Musa was praised for his wealth all over the world, the local people and griots didn't hold him in high regards. They saw him as a foolish king who just gave gold away. Mansa Musa might be the most famous Mali king but most griots prefered Sundiata Keita.
Learned a few things. Was a good video reaction!
Not joking, I was just thinking I was hoping he would react to this
im so proud to see Scru on here, especially since hes a big fan of ERB
Yesss please make more!!! Even though there are some not really history related (like the Harry Potter vs Luke Skywalker), I will still love to see your reaction😁
He DIDN'T bow to the King of Cairo. That's false.
The BBC has a history podcast called "You're Dead to Me" which did a really good show on Mansa Musa.
@@moblinmajorgeneral wait what do you mean by that?
You know it’s bad when erb nails Jeff on the head with everything Jeff is the most selfsenterd person I know
@@ivboneheadvi He means Bezos even if he lost, wouldn't care since he's still a multimillionaire company and this battle was nothing of worth to him.
His name was not Abraham musa, it was AbuBakr Keita. Musa is not Mansa Musa's last name, it’s Musa Keita. Mansa is just a title for “king”
Huevos (literally "eggs") is a Spanish slang for testicles.
Scru is a student of the game, which is why his flow, delivery, and timing was so perfect. Bezos’ rounds were great, but Musa supplied a decisive ass whupping. I really wish it was more even.
Amazing MTH video
I love how talking about Mansa Musa gets Terry excited 😂 This was so fun to watch
New oversimplified video!!!!!!!!!!
I got an Amazon ad before the video 😂
I want to see Mr Terry on ERB next
No, no, Mr.
Good video, as always. As a suggestion for the next video, I have three words: Oversimplified has posted
Scru Face Jean is another reactor on YT, which makes me hope they'll get you on to do an ERB one day!
If you want more Mansa Musa content you should check out Puppet History. The whole series is great (there is some crass language).
I was a little disappointed that Rockefeller didn’t show up lmao
Mansa muna destroyed, bezos didn't stand a chance with his weak first verse, bezo did pick it up in his second verse, but it was already too late
Oversimplified posted!!!!
Tbf to Jeff we have a lot less info on musa so harder to Diss him
So Lloyds first bar in the second verse spelled MILLIRAVI.
Im also for Mansa Musa as a winner, but that ending with Alexa as Bezos was damn cool :D
Mr Terry you got to react to the new over simplified video!
Oversimplified posted
As deep as Musa's disses and flows went, I still think he won the moment he said "Hey Lex Loser!"
before i watched this battle for the first time when it came out i had to do a wiki search to find out a bit about mansa musa as i had never heard of him
One of the more commonly missed bars in the one was when Jeff said "Musa I'm Lyrically Lethal, I'm Relentlessly African Verse Immune". MILLIVARI has been used as the base of many acrostics at Amazon, used to signify that the topic currently under discussion was a mathematical or computational error of greater than $1 million. Nice Easter egg there
in for the 7000 comments that OverSimplified has posted....
Have you seen Oversimplified's new Pig War video yet?
You should definitely check out the Watcher's Puppet History series, they present history topics in the form of a fun trivia game. Their episode on Mansa Musa was the first time I learned about him which in hindsight is a massive shame. Dunno if it would make great react content but it's great stuff regardless
Of course, Mansa Musa won. Scru Face Jean killed it
Have you reacted to Extra History about Mansa Musa and the Mali empire?
Mansa Munsa won simply on the fact that his dises we're easier to understand. Thats a thing with these battles, when you don know much about either one, the person who has easier to relate dises wins.
thats too bad for you because i understood both sides and Bezos was actually on equal part, one or two heavy punches more on his side too
what im saying here is that Bezos ultimately managed to come up on top if you can actually catch all the clever references such as Milliravi hidden in that line at 9:06
@@xGoodOldSmurfehx you really didn't understand anything if you think Jeff won lmao
@@xGoodOldSmurfehx also one of the best lines by Bezos (at least when it comes to being universally understood) is just blatantly untrue.
Mansa Musa refused to bow to the king of Cairo because he would only bow to God.
@@goldencalf13 That could be Jeff not being religious
It feels disingenuous to call this a reaction channel. As a historian, you aren't just giving your immediate feelings on the matter while the video plays for easy clicks, it's more like we're studying the lyrics together. A+ work.
Mansa Musa is absolutely S tier in Civ 6 I don't know what they're talking about.
4:19
I may be wrong, but im pretty sure Niani was the capital of Mali, but Timbuktu was the centre of their education and scripture
Oversimplified is premiering in 5 mins!
Have a nice pixel of cheese
Epic Lloyd played Jeff Bezos and the man is an absolute genius. He's played dozens of characters throughout ERB's history and he is simply amazing. You were quite right incalling him a rapper/actor.
Mr Terry is certified Mansa Musa fan
*muah*
