Hearing that Rowan used to be flatmates with Byron somehow makes so much sense to me. VLDL genuinely feels almost like family. Whenever I need positivity I usually drift towards your videos and watching you grow and succeed just makes me smile. Thank you!
Adam is a great interviewer. He could easily insert himself into the conversation but he’s quite expertly giving Rowan and Alan space to gather their thoughts. Also, early on we he says how he prompts with his memory of the story of Alan and Rowan first becoming friends,I had to laugh because I am that person who will remember a friend’s personal story long after they’ve forgotten some of the details. Friends and family are always a little amazed when I remember some little personal anecdote they told me years before. Adam seems to be that kind of person that really absorbs those kinds of little details of an anecdote.
A while back I was going through a pretty rough time in my life and your guyses videos really helped me. Your content is so amazing, Thank you for doing what you do.
as a full time care giver (father all day, take care of the toddler, clean house, etc), who works all night ( software engineer), and am pursuing my master is CS, I look forward to the dnd campaign each week. Its a highlight of my week to watch your next DnD episode and I love the new all girls series that just started! Now that I know that you guys look at the comments and it actually effects your day, I will try to comment more and let you know how much I appreciate what you do. Thank you for having this content and sharing with us, your talent and selves. More DnD content!
I started watching around the beginning of Epic NPC Man, and from there I found Bored. Y'all are easily my favorite channel and I always look forward to new videos.
Did I just go back to a video made 12 years ago because I was curious what the VLDL Teaser video was? ... yes. Was it worth it? ... absolutely. VLDL has made me laugh so many times during the few years I have been following, and I am so glad y'all decided to start this channel.
I remember discovering VLDL not long after their first videos. I LOVE the music videos too...I still listen to them often. (I'm 68, and didn't even play any online games...just Big Fish games. 🤣 ( I'm an Aussie grandma)
I’m a gramma too (US, 56). I got back into gaming a few years before I discovered these guys thru the Red Dead Redemption 2 videos. I hadn’t played video games for about 15 years before that.***Just checked and I created my first Fallout 4 character April 3, 2018. And boy did she look weird. FO4 was what got me back into gaming. So the 15 years is pretty accurate give it take a year or two. I would still watch my kids play games like Resident Evil 2 and sometimes join in on a game of Street Fighter 2 but then they got busy with other things also. Now I play racing games with my 4 yo grandson Rui and occasionally with his older brother Oz. Ozzie is 6 and has autism and ADHD and doesn’t have the same attention span for video games Rui has. Rui is a natural. I started playing RDR2 in January 2020 so I’ve been following these guys for a little less time then that. I kind of lost track for about a year when I ran out of the RDR2 content and then came across Epic NPC man and binge-watched every episode. My husband and I binge watched Bored which is particularly relevant to him because he’s worked in home audio/video for basically his entire adult life. He’s been the owner of his business for about half of that. It’s not exactly the same but, close enough. There are three retail business that particularly attract the more unusual types (to put it in as kind a term as possible). Record shops, book shops, and home electronics shops. Libraries also, but they aren’t a retail business. And there’s a lot of crossover. I worked at a bookstore in the same college neighborhood as my husband (Brown and RISD) and we knew folks that worked in the two record shops in the neighborhood. We could all swap stories of the same kook. One guy we all called “Titanic guy” because he was always asking to hold books on the Titanic and then never buying them, also was a regular at the record stores. That was one case where my husband only encountered him one time at the stereo store. Anyway, according to record store friends, he was always buying the same album. I can’t remember what it was but I think it may have been Led Zeppelin. One day he went in one of the stores (Tom’s Tracks,RIP) and wanted to return that particular record because “When I play it I hear all this screaming”. To make a very long story slightly less long, Bored customers like Ben are not an exaggeration. And this is just one example mind you. There were quite a few other special customers.
I'm an American, but Bored, Epic NPC Man and the PUBG Logic helped me through a time in my life where I felt utterly directionless. It was cool to see a small group just making weirdly relatable videos on the other side of the planet. You guys played just as much of a role in my ongoing growth into an artist, husband and father as more notable/popular/established media played. I will always be thankful for that. If I ever write or make a game, I will do everything I can to pay homage to VLDL.
Alan seems to be going thru some nighttime toddler stuff, going by an earlier podcast. Also he seems to have natural dark circles. Some people do. Especially when they have large prominent eyes like his. He has the most expressive eyes. I love how he can do from innocent, to irritated, to psycho witn just a little change in his eyes.
Just so you know. You guys are the best. I worked all last year. Alone. And came home to an empty apartment. You guys uploading videos while I was getting ready for work, that helped me get through my day so much. You guys are so nice and talented. I appreciate you. And I want you to know that when I'm down. You help me get through. I pathetically pretend you're my friends 😅
Having listened to the actual podcast, I appreciated the post addition of content such as the “Saturday Night” clip for context. Well done. This will keep me watching the TH-cam versions after the podcasts.
As someone who subscribed years after this started. I would like to say that I have enjoyed watching the evolution of your channel. Keep it up guys. 😊 35:00
My first exposure to you guys was Rowan's first Karen battle. Then I found the TH-cam channel and I've been hooked. The chemistry and fun you have come through.
I found you guys through red dead skits, then saw your other content and have been a subscriber since. You guys are awesome. One of my all time favourite though is the dark souls skits too
Ben did such a good job with those. I re-watched them just a couple of weeks ago. I tried playing Dark Souls a little after I first got back into gaming. I had borrowed my grandkids’ dad’s Xbox 360 to play Fallout NV and he had Dark Souls so I gave it a try. It was so frustratingly difficult, especially since I had mostly just been playing Fallout 4 on Normal at that point. I bought Elden Ring after watching Jon of Many a True Nerd play it but never got out of the tutorial. Someone in his comments gave me some kind advice but I still couldn’t figure it out. 😂
I listen to Podcasts online whilst working and most of them are political and about similar discussions all the time, and so listening to a podcast about things i love is so refreshing and I really wish you had created more than the ones you have, as this is a second play through :D Love it VLDL
Been watching every single episode for about 2 weeks. I'm always looking forward to listening to the ways you guys think and stuff. Just love it! Hahaha
If you wanna be TECHNICAL, VLDL is Rowan, Alan, and Adam. They're the core 3. Ben is a cast member, and then idk exactly what he does behind the scenes.
Ben spends a lot of his time making drawings. He does quite a few Twitch streams where he draws and chats. I know he does some writing for the show, as does Brit. But I think when it’s these things they like to keep it the core “Bored” group.
Absolutely love this through it all Alan and rowan stuck together against the odds and made it and cannot wait for the introduction of Adam next episode ❤️
This is my favorite podcast since the very first ep, second place is IIWY (now replaced by Segments), followed by the Always Sunny Podcast. Somehow you guys have taken a higher place than my 2 other favorite creator teams and we’re only 7 episodes in
Only on episode 3 so far but I think it's great you guys discuss mental health ❤ can probably say on behalf of a lot of people that many can resonate with you guys, keep up the great work and keep the podcast and videos coming :)
Ofc Byron couldn't be part of the main crew in the early days. They tried getting him into Starcraft, but he just refused to play on anything else than his mac. The whole skit when Alan smacks him in the head with his golf club? That's just a reconstruction of something that happened. Probably more than once.
Been hoping something like this would be made about your origins for years. Awesome to see really hope you get Ben in this podcast at some point as his story would be really cool to hear. Keep going hard boys 🤙🤙
Thanks for releasing the episodes as videos as well. I really enjoy watching your expressions and how you interact as you talk about the podcast topics. Plus as a non native english speaker it‘s sometimes easier to understand you, when I can see the motion of your mouths.
As Kiwis we do tend to mumble and not open our mouths very much though, which these guys here are demonstrating classic examples of, so I am VERY impressed by anybody who is fully understanding them as a second-language speaker!! 😂
@@anna_in_aotearoa3166 Yeah, among all the other reasons I watch this channel, it’s also really good comprehension practice :D Rowan’s mumbling is the endboss though xD
Basically, I keep seeing you guys like the Top Gear trio. They can do anything they want now, because they're just so damn entertaining when they're together. But what's even better, is that your subject matter is video games which is a much more MASSIVE audience to reach. It's a bit late for congratulations cause you've already made it, but damn nice job with what you've built.
