In Pacific Rim 1, the Jaeger uses its momentum of the arm to drive a large formable sword into the Kaiju, allowing it to pierce and penetrate through the armor with one to three strikes. Let's say the Arthur fights the Kaiju. The Arthur has physical shells equipped that can deal damage against armor right? In the end, the amount of round strikes it takes vs the sword strikes of a Jaeger is alarmingly many, it eats away the armor slowly and ineffectively until it has pierced through the Kaiju's armor. Once then can it do real damage. In the long run, the Arthur gets more damaged than the Jaeger by a striking Kaiju before it has successfully penetrated armor.
