sadly...sometimes war is the only option or remedy. Take WW2 for example...the USA stayed out of it until they got attacked. And with Europe, Hitler had to be stopped, he was a murderous monster. War should always be the last option.

@@Lothenrin in this specific case it's a refference to "for whom the bell tolls" by Hemmingway. Set in the Spanish civil war. The title for the book, and the song, come from a poem by John Donne. This is my adrenaline song. I first heard this song on cassette in my hometown Floral Park NY in 1988. I was instantly hooked. It's my workout song and one of my many favorites from my favorite band of all time METALLICA #4EVER
Excellent!!! Long live those heroes who fought for freedom. My respects to all. Metallica is a great band!!!
My great grandfather survived the entire eastern front on the front lines without killing a single human soul. God saved him and that’s why I’m able to comment this underneath this badass song
war is hell, got my friend killed and cried alone thinking about him for 7 months. no day passes by without thinking about him. if a fucking war breaks out and if i am the lucky one among the ones I care i die first and even if i die and so surely loose my consciousness most probably my friends are going to get killed so dying first isn't even comforting at all. wishing good people a wholesome healthy long life with their people...
Sometimes i hear a frenchmans voice speaking in english with a french accent that has almost carried me and made me keep going in extremly dark moments and what ever and where ever that voice has come from hey youve have helped me as you have completely understood me

Gives me chills the hell these Marines had to go through.
Coming back to my comment 4 months later still gives me the chills.
It's insane how we was a small military power until we got attacked then we turned all of our factories into war machines and became the strongest. Quote from a Japanese admiral "I fear we just awoke a sleeping giant"

What a fucking badass. Not trying to glorify war but it took guts to watch this video, and I can imagine it took more than that to be there. 🙏
Being at the filmset of whom the bells tolls dont make him a hero!
Ok, maybe in my book... But not in most
I wont lie this video fucks me up mentally everytime to think what they went through. Sooooo much respect to everyone who has served and to everyone currently serving.
I keep my grandad's purple heart in the top dresser drawer. A good reminder of the America he fought for.

My uncle was a Marine in WW 2. Fought against the Japanese on Guadalcanal and Okinawa. Volunteered to carry flamethrower. Talking to him in his old age , you would have never known what a badass he really was .
He probably never thought of himself as such. He just wanted to keep AMERICA free.
I thank him,XXX A girl from NZ
All I have to say, is any who served in WW2 is a badass....anyone who VOLUNTEERED to carry the flamethrower, their just legendary.
Excellent work I love this perfect example of fan made content
as a reminder, metallica’s war songs shouldn’t be seen as glorification of the conflicts but as they were written which is to outline the horrors of war and how young men and women shouldn’t be killed at the hands of irresponsible political leaders.
One!
sadly...sometimes war is the only option or remedy. Take WW2 for example...the USA stayed out of it until they got attacked. And with Europe, Hitler had to be stopped, he was a murderous monster. War should always be the last option.
@@eds3073 "Stayed out until they were attacked" this doesn't fit up with the US after 1949 though.
@@AmericanIdiot7659 more like preventing attacks before they happen, a strategy that often causes more harm than good (even though we should honor the brave men and women who gave their lives to ensure our safety)
Shut up.
"For a hill men would kill

So sad. But really glad Metallica made a song about anti-war sound so good.
You don't know Metallica
@@mk45gunnr25 you are right but what is wrong with liking a song about anti-war? Well you'll say I don't really know, well I guess you won. Good job.
@@Lothenrin in this specific case it's a refference to "for whom the bell tolls" by Hemmingway. Set in the Spanish civil war.
The title for the book, and the song, come from a poem by John Donne.
The line "do not send to know for whom the (funerary-) bell tolls, it tolls for thee".
The anti-war theme is not as thick as in "one" but certainly there.
Really shows the chaos the Marines went threw. Truly great job!!!!
To all the soldiers in here, I love and respect you with the highest level of honor.
I thought the Curtis Mathis tv was struck by lightning?
This should have been the actual video for this song instead of a fan video. Outstanding fit.
