    Well, there are a few things to say about that. If I'd be in a dry spell and would be out with my brother, I'd document the day with him but not with photography in mind in the first place. One thing I had to learn when my father died is: When you know your life runs out, you simply don't care about all the great images of random people throwing shadows. What you care about are the photos of your family and the places you had been with them. Photos which take you back to that days and hours. There are no valuable photos except those. Trust me. They are never wasted and the light and technique couldn't be less important.

    I have no problem with you experimenting with different niches on your channel. Your presentation style is very down to earth, and I've enjoyed every one of your videos, regardless of the topic you're talking about. Well done, sir!

    I like the Black and White! I also like the one you did but also the one with your brother under the bridge at the end as the supports really provide depth and dimension.

    What a glorious place Barmouth is. Also the whole of Gwynedd is rather impressive to say the least, and Blaenau Ffestiniog is also fantastic to photograph as well.

    Me too, never had a "niche" it use to worry me that all the pro TH-camrs would say "you need to find your niche"

    To keep my photography motivation I like to spent $15 to $20 on a vintage lens. Generally provides a good learning experience and a fresh look at compositions. Start a collection of these or sell it later at a similar price.

    I like the boat & anchor image in color better. As photographers, we often want to capture the essence of a scene and I feel like colors give a better representation of the sunny day you enjoyed. BW in this case is a bit too moody. It shifts the focus on the texture of the mud and the rusty anchor a lot more than the pleasant sunlight scene which was kind of the the thing that helped you break the dry spell. Also if we look at the rest of the images captured that day, it fits in much better; if we want to look at them as a collection, or an "essay", which is also an interesting form of expression in photography (I got this from Graeme Williams - check out his channel, really thought provoking conversations).

    Hi Joshua, having just watched your blog/video I couldn't agree more, having just spent four day around Edinburgh and returned with only a handful of shots which I liked the best, the shots came by chance just looking around the corner or even just turning your head and there they were. So true in what you say about waiting and knowing what you want when you go out many times we do that and it goes out the window once there... just take what you want if they are no good it's a digital camera delete them and try again. Great show well done enjoyed it.

    Another great and insightful video. I have not really found a niche as yet, I just like taking photos wherever I am whether they are good or bad. I just go out somewhere and click away...........deleting more than I keep but thats the great part of photography, learning from your mistakes.
    I have learnt so much from your channel over the past year, my composition has improved as well as getting the hang of the different modes. Keep up the good work, the new photos in your portfolio complement the others and help us beginner photographers to get an idea of composition of photographs in different genres.

    Hello fellow Welsh person, I had this issue when I banded myself into Landscape, since then I’ve been doing a lot of street photography, I still do some landscape but it’s no where near traditional anymore, guess like you not everything needs to fit in one box. 2nd video of yours I’ve seen look forward to the next.

    Great video! I also enjoy different genres of photography and have never gravitated to one particular style...But I never know if I've taken a great or even a good photo because the ones that speak to me don't seem to be the ones that speak to others...most of the time...I'm still just a beginner with a lot to learn...

    Im quite a beginner in photography. I go out and look for everything. Struktures, shadows etc and take pictures of everything. then i edit it and post it and no one seems to like them. Its hard to come over this. A bit of a downer to be honest.

      I would focus on taking photos of what you like and what interests you and this will ultimately show in your work and eventually people will like what you do, if you start to take photos for the sole purpose of pleasing others then you will lose the enjoyment that it brings so just enjoy what you do and the likes will eventually follow.

    • @BenderRodriguezBender
      @BenderRodriguezBender 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are absolutely right. I should only take pictures of what i like. The photos i like most i post. I do that but its a good feeling if others like what you do too. I try to dont let it touch me a lot but when i have taken a photo i really like and people on reddit downvote it to 20% i think what ive done wrong with it. You know what i mean? @@brettseaton1125

    Nice one Josh! This video could literally be me speaking. It’s 100% how I feel about photography. I have to mix it up to keep it interesting. Personally I feel the type of photo’s featured here are better and more artistic than some ‘portfolio’ worthy landscape shots. Just my opinion which means bugger all i know 😂.
    Regarding the video, these type of ‘walkabout’ ones i feel most people can relate to as we can all do this type of photography not matter where we live. Great work as usual !

    The pictures are fantastic. But what amazes me is the quality of the video with such pleasing colours coming out of the original s5. Few channels, in my opinion, get so much from the s5 than you do. And the audio quality is surprisingly good, like really good. And the source seems a regular rode mic, so it sounds far more above it should out of the box.
    Really nice channel with quality content.

    Joshua, how do you use your focus settings throughout this video? Do you move between the various focus options, or stick with a standard? Maybe a video on the subject mainly dealing with the various scenes in a place like the one in the video since it has a variety of scenes. Cheers.
    Always enjoyable vids mate.
    Yes, throw in some more street if you enjoy it. Your town environs are interesting and it's these quieter towns where street is interesting because it's less hustle and more locals going about their day-to-day. James Popsys' street stuff is good because of his environment, which is similar.

    • @TheJoshuaPeg
      @TheJoshuaPeg  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Trevor, I keep it pretty simple when it comes to focus points: if there's a main subject, that's where I set my focus point, and if it's just a landscape, I focus to infinity.
      Thanks for the kind words 😁

      @@TheJoshuaPeg Thanks Joshua. What i was asking, and for some reason wasn't clear is: do you stick with single point focus or zones, or switch between them. Sorry about the lack of clarity :-(
      I think I'll look for a good face detect auto-focus camera for my street attempts and avoid a zoom lense for it. I have a Canon G5xMk1 and the 24mm initial wide is a bit to wide, so I can miss things while I zoom to frame. It's a nuisance. Although the camera itself give good results generally.

    Hey man, I can't defo relate to the dry spells. I've been trying really hard to work on my style of late. I have to be aware when I'm out and about that I have my eyes open and not pigeon hole myself into looking for specific shots. If I do it can be very frustrating indeed.
