"Unchained Melody" (Guitar instrumental)

- "Unchained Melody" is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the prison film Unchained (1955) hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers in 1965. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages. I hope you enjoy my version!

First time I heard that song was in 1965, the Righteous Brothers. I was on my way to a Dude Ranch in the beautiful Texas Hill Country to spend a few days. Heard it again several times coming home. Such a sad, hauntingly beautiful love song.....Very nice video, Geoff. 🌹💞

I was patiently waiting for you to produce your inimitable version of this favorite of mine. (I dared not suggest it!) You've made me a happy woman today, Geoff. I have always paused to listen to this song on the radio--and time stood still for me until it was finished. Combining this with your interpretation---and listening to it with your ever-escalating skills--elevated me to the feelings I used to have on Christmas morning. You've done it once again Geoff in hitting this one out of the park! This is probably my favorite song of all time and I remember dancing to this many times with my girlfriend from the sixth grade and I knew that she was "the one" right from the start and that we would be married someday. Alas, it was not meant to be. It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. I've thought about her literally every day of my life for decades and will probably continue to do same until my end of days. FWIW, the woman at the beginning of your video could pass for her twin. Best wishes from across the Pond.
I can relate to that Peter, but in my case i think it could have been a lucky escape. The girl in question "went off" with my best friend, which was a double whammy!
I saw them some decades later, an overweight woman, and a bedraggled old man, but i am still in love with that 16 year old girl.

Boy are you tuned in Geoff! Yes, the same thing happened to me. She ended up marrying my best friend from Kindergarten through Highschool. He was a year older and was in the Air Force Reserve and when he graduated from college his parents gave him a new Corvette. I had actually introduced my girlfriend, who was actually my fiancée at the time, to him and we used to double-date together with him and his girlfriend at that time. He actually broke up with his girlfriend and started to date mine during my last year of college. He had the uniform, the Vette and the money. I was raised to forgive and forget, but I will never ever do either one. Like your situation, she became very heavy, but she'll always be the beautiful girl I remember from the sixth grade. Life poses some real twists and turns that sometimes one never recoups from.
