Everyone was like nagisa trained her ass off for everything and for ayano was like most of her shit came from talent. They'd had no idea what she'd been through and how broken she was so I wanted her to win but Fuck!
Yeah, adaptation did not do any favors for Ayano. Apparently in the manga, Ayano gets serious, but her flaws are from immaturity rather than others pushing her over the deep end. Manga Connie is not a raging b$tch, and does try to be a good friend and treat Ayano as a sister without ever insinuating her mom replaced her. Anime kinda made us want to root for Ayano getting revenge, and then denied the audience to uphold the hard work and friendship message, which really felt tone deaf in the face of how Ayano got treated.
People donʻt understand that Ayano has been practically training in Badminton since she was 2 years old. It got to the point where when she was playing the rallying game with her mom Ayano cut her head and was bleeding but they still kept playing. Think about that from 2 years old to what 2nd year in middle school was non stop Badminton but Nagisa working hard for her HS career is OP. GTFO! Everyone who read the manga knows her winning was just for character development for Ayano and total plot armor for Nagisa. I knew what would happen but I wanted her to go black mamba and tell the crowd to STFU lol
Personally I thought Ayano would've won, considering when she goes berserk that's when her best playtime shows. She's berserk but she's got control when she plays, just not emotionally controlled. Her smashes are strong too, they don't go out but just inside the house. But when she can't read the opponent's movement that's when she loses her play. :

That's kinda the point. Ayano wasn't mentally stable at that time and was on the verge of discarding everything and everyone else, to the point that she was starting to get full of herself thinking that she could do everything by herself. This is exactly what led Ayano into losing as she thought that she could beat Nagisa in a battle of power despite being aware of her inferior physique and the disadvantages of playing outside her usual playstyle. Nagisa was fully aware of this fact and took this as an advantage and further dragged Ayano into playing into her own domain. She knows and even admitted in the manga that it was a very lucky win.

The writers nerfed Ayano to get the ending they wanted. If we go by feats & by character, Nagisa loses 10 times out of 10 and the matches won't even be close. The more you train, the longer you train, the more interest you have, the more you hang on, that's how you win. Not by experiencing a tough childhood cause your mom left you and found a replacement. And that's clearly why nagisa won because she led in most of those. She didn't win because "she was a 3rd year" that's stupid it's like those other kids in her childhood saying she was good at badminton because she was tall. Nagisa had interest in badminton from the very start, while hanesaki only started being truly invested later. From my point of view, nagisa truly deserved that win.
You don’t get to win because you love what you do. It’s clear you didn’t watch Ayana’s backstory cause she loved the sport when she was younger then when her mom left she played with the pure goal to win every match to see her mother again. She was natural gifted but she had a lot of experience with all her time training so don’t act like Ayano never practiced. On the other hand Nagisa literally worked hard that one year a nobody with no gifts beats the protégée like ok. Clearly that aligns with reality where you can beat a genius just cause of friendship and plot armor. Make it make sense.

They hate it because they read the manga... That's one of the worst sports manga over there, in it Ayano is basically invencible and trains with a bear... No it's not a metaphor, I really never get why Nagisa was so hated, she basically put down most of the anime because her body is actually a disvantage in the sport, in the manga is just fan service...

The Real world is not some kind of anime bs where you will suddenly get awakening or boost, or triggering dormant talent the moment you remember your past which awaken the motivation, as the matter fact sports in real world favour those with suitable and advantageous physical characteristics. In this case nagisa have both advantageous physical characteristics and she consistently and constantly put the effort, so in reality context ayano didn't even stand a chance.

The writers nerfed Ayano to get the ending they wanted. If we go by feats & by character, Nagisa loses 10 times out of 10 and the matches won't even be close.
In the manga, Nagisa does not defeat Ayano. She never does, except maybe in practice matches but never in an official/proper match. Ayano is on a completely different level.
