I just took off the stock dunlop sportmax gpr300's on my r3, and put on the battlax s22's on my R3. I only had 1,100 miles on the sportmaxes, but I didn't feel confident on them. The S22's make a HUGE difference. I'm very confident in these tires.
S22 is a great tire and last a long time. They should definitely be an improvement over those Dunlops. Sometimes a change in profile makes a huge difference in confidence and feel of the bike.
@@evanhuber1772 yeah, an S22 is not equal to a TD on track. I totally agree with that! I don't want to imply they are. If a person is doing trackdays on a trackbike then run a track tire. But showing up with an S22, Q3+, SP, RS10, RS11, or any hypersport tire does not equate to unsafe and you're going to crash either. Tires in the summer get hot and slip. Thanks for the comment and input. I appreciate the feedback and read all comments and try to reply. Where and what are you riding?

I don't think you're qualified to be comparing tires at the speeds you ride. You're not pushing the tires, you're just riding on them. Also your favorite tire is showing signs of improper suspension settings.
S22 are one of the best overall street performance tires for all weather conditions - it can be used at the track but obviously not as good as a dedicated tract tire from Pirelli

That my friend is a wear related to rebound settings. Not a preassure related issue. If only people who have no common knowledge would not give advice life would be much easier.
Awesome review on the S22s. Great tire for the price! You were running 30 psi on the track? I wish my tire looked like that after a track day. The bridgestone vendor said to air 26 cold. Maybe I will try 28 next time! BTW, for this comparison, are you still running 200/55 or 190/55?
Have you tried the Mitas Sports Force + or evo? They're pretty good but pretty curious how the s22 would compare for purely canyong riding like in my videos. Both me and the MT10 are on Mitas tires.
I have never tried Mitas tires. I have never been disappointed in the performance of an S22. I think any hypersport tire is more than capable for most people riding on the street. Thanks for commenting.
@@MantisRacing i think i just need something that sticks like the mitas but lasts a bit longer in the middle, since our "playground" is 45km away from home. Check my latest vids if you have time.
I can compare the two, as I did my first track days last year on a set of S22s before switching to the RS11 for the remainder of the season. I'm on a tuned 2019 Aprilia Tuono V4, so around 180 hp and a crapload of torque, and my home track is NCM Motorsports Park, which is heavy on the right turns. The S22s were fine; as the video points out, they're a bit heavy, but they've got a very neutral profile and they're easy to modulate and don't take a huge amount of effort to lean over or adjust your line. Wear is a bit odd, probably due to the triple-compound construction; the center and edges wore pretty evenly, but the middle shoulder of the tire shredded pretty quickly and made them a bit sketchy on corner exit. I may have run the pressures too high for the first couple of sessions though. The RS11s were a better version of everything I just mentioned except for wear. Super easy to turn in, great feel from the front end, never even came close to overdoing it on the front, and only started giving up grip on the rear after two days of running in hot AF temperatures. Having said that, the wear profile is like a worse version of the S22s; 12 15-minute sessions and the middle shoulders were completely shredded and causing the traction control to kick in out of slower corners. I was running 30 psi F/26 psi R per Bridgestone's recommendations and using warmers between sessions, but couldn't seem to do anything about the tire wear. Some of that is probably due to me accelerating in that middle part of the lean and not carrying enough corner speed, so I'm hoping I can improve that on my own this coming year. If the new set I have on the bike now does the same thing, I'll probably switch to Supercorsa TDs.
Just ran S22’s on my MT-10 @ Jennings GP and completely destroyed it @ spec PSI and suspension setup/monitored. Jennings must just be a different animal….5-6 sessions and I had to flip it.
Lol, yeah Jennings is a different animal. Jennings will destroy the left side. CMP is just as notorious for destroying the right side. It has been a few years since I have ridden Jennings, but at CMP I would flip at lunch and the end of day.
25psi for a 200, 26 for the 190. I have not set my cold pressures on a s22. That pressure seems low to me. If I run S22s on track again I would give the cold pressure recommendation a try. I learned from Metzelers start where the oem recommends and adjust from there. Thanks for the comment.
more like 36psi unless its really hot day out and track is hot then few less as S22 likes a pretty high psi to run nice think they recommend a top psi of (39/40psi Hot tyre)
I tried tons of tires. I have the s22 on my chr1000rr sp1. And I'm noticing lots of either small punctures or tears. Very small but noticable. Kinda looks at if you ran over a nail. I'm obviously not running over nails and none are that deep but it is concerning to me because I've never seen this on any of my other tires that I have ran. This is just aggressive street riding.

On the S22 the tyre wear on the right side is from a low pressure, a couple of psi would have smoothed off that pickup wear band. 👍
